[1. REGULAR BOARD MEETING CALL TO ORDER - 5:30 PM]
[00:00:06]
ALL RIGHT. GOOD EVENING, EVERYONE.
WELCOME TO OUR FEBRUARY 28TH BOARD MEETING.
WE'RE GOING TO GET THINGS ROLLING HERE WITH OUR PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE, LED BY CONNIE HENNESSEY.
THANK YOU, TONY. NEXT, WE WILL HAVE OUR LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT WITH TRACY MALONE.
I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE GEOGRAPHICAL REGION OF CAMAS IS LOCATED ON THE ANCESTRAL AND TERRITORIAL LANDS OF THE CHINOOK AND ITS PEOPLE, AND THAT THE CHINOOK ARE STILL FIGHTING TO BE A FEDERALLY RECOGNIZED TRIBE ON THEIR OWN LAND.
THANKS, TRACY. JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE, FIRST OF ALL, BEFORE WE MOVE ON, I FORGOT TO MENTION AT THE TOP, DOUG QUINN IS IS ABSENT FROM THE MEETING TONIGHT, SO WE'LL EXCUSE HIM. NEXT ON THE AGENDA, ITEM TWO A, WE HAVE A REPORT FROM ASB PRESIDENT JACKSON TYLER
[2. STUDENT REPORTS]
FROM LIBERTY MIDDLE SCHOOL.ALL RIGHT. SO TONIGHT I'M GOING TO BE COVERING HOW LIBERTY IS GOING TO BE SUPPORTING ALL OF OUR STUDENTS OF ALL SOCIAL GROUPS.
YEAH. SO A FEW WEEKS AGO, WE BECAME AWARE OF A STUDENT THAT WAS FEELING RACIALLY ATTACKED AND WAS HEARING RACIAL HATE COMMENTS AND ANTI LGBTIQ+ COMMENTS.
SO AS ASB PRESIDENT, THIS GAVE ME A SURGE OF URGENCY TO JUST DIMINISH THIS PROBLEM AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE, BECAUSE IT'S MY JOB TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERY STUDENT FEELS SAFE AND COMFORTABLE AT LIBERTY.
SO WE FEEL CALLED TO ACT BECAUSE LAST WEEK OR TWO WEEKS AGO WE GAVE A SCHOOL WIDE SURVEY IN ORDER TO GAUGE HOW WE EXPERIENCES FOR EACH STUDENT.
THIS HALLWAY FORM GAVE US A GOOD, BETTER A BETTER IDEA ON HOW STUDENTS FEEL IN OUR HALLS. YOU KNOW, HOW MUCH AND ANTI-LGBTQ+ COMMENTS THAT THEY HEARD, ETC., THAT TYPE OF STUFF. THERE HAVE BEEN REPORTS OF STUDENTS CALLING PEOPLE OF COLOR DEMEANING TERMS, STUDENTS TRYING TO TOUCH PEOPLE OF COLOR, HIS HAIR AND OTHER EXPERIENCES THAT MAKE THEM VERY UNCOMFORTABLE.
SOME STUDENTS HAVE QUESTIONED THE ALLOWANCE OF A CLUB SPECIALIZED FOR PEOPLE OF COLOR, AND WHEN REPORTS ARE MADE ABOUT RACIAL OR ANTI LGBTQ COMMENTS, SOME STUDENTS CAN FEEL LIKE NOT ENOUGH HAPPENS IN ORDER TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM.
SO AS I ALREADY SAID, IT IS MY JOB TO MAKE SURE EVERY STUDENT FEELS SAFE AND COMFORTABLE AT LIBERTY. SO A FEW OF THE THINGS THAT ISB WILL TRY TO DO OR IS GOING TO DO WITHIN THE FOLLOWING WEEKS TO TRY TO DIMINISH THE AMOUNT OF RACIAL AND ANTI LGBTQ COMMENTS THAT OCCUR AT LIBERTY AND THE COMMUNITY IS WE ARE GOING TO ENCOURAGE USING LANGUAGE THAT PROMOTES POSITIVITY AND DOES NOT REINFORCE ALREADY EXISTING STEREOTYPES OR INTRODUCE NEW NEWS, NEW STEREOTYPES.
WE'RE ALSO GOING TO RESPOND IMMEDIATELY AND EFFECTIVELY TO INAPPROPRIATE COMMENTS AND ACTIONS FROM STUDENT TO STUDENTS.
WE ARE GOING TO DO BETTER AT MODELING INCLUSION AND ACCEPTANCE.
WE ARE GOING TO SEEK TO COLLABORATE WITH OTHER SCHOOLS AND ORGANIZATIONS WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY. THE REASON WE WANTED TO DO THIS IS BECAUSE WE FEEL LIKE WHAT HAPPENS AT SCHOOL NOT ONLY AFFECTS THE STUDENTS AT SCHOOL, BUT ALSO WITHIN THE COMMUNITY.
SO IF WE CAN TRY PARTNERING WITH OTHER SCHOOLS WITHIN THE DISTRICT OR OTHER ORGANIZATIONS, THEN WE NOT ONLY MAKE THE SCHOOL A BETTER PLACE, BUT ALSO THE COMMUNITY A BETTER PLACE. AND WE ARE GOING TO REINFORCE THE USE OF SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING BY REPORTING OR WHICH IS A REPORTING SYSTEM BY STUDENTS.
ONE OF THE WAYS WE DO THIS IS WE HAVE A FORM THAT STUDENTS CAN FILL OUT THAT GOES AUTOMATICALLY TO THE COUNSELORS.
AND THIS IS AN ANONYMOUS REPORTING SYSTEM WHERE IF THEY SEE SOMETHING, THEY CAN REPORT IT AND THE COUNSELORS CAN TAKE CARE OF IT.
YEAH. AND WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING A SET OF LESSONS TALKING ABOUT RACIAL AND ANTI-LGBTQ COMMENTS AND ACTIONS.
AND SO OUR THIRD LESSON IN A SERIES THAT WILL BE BEING INTRODUCED MONDAY IN OUR ADVISORY CLASSES, LESSON ONE AND TWO FOCUSED ON OUR SURVEY AND THE RESULTS FROM IT.
THE MORE RECENT ONE ALSO WAS ABOUT SETTING COMMON EXPECTATIONS FOR OUR HALLS.
[00:05:03]
NEXT MONDAY, STUDENTS WILL BE GIVEN TOOLS TO INTERRUPT HATEFUL LANGUAGE IN OUR HALLS BY CALLING STUDENTS IN A CONVERSATION RATHER THAN CALLING THEM OUT.STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO PRACTICE THEM BY USING SENTENCES THAT WOULD HELP WHEN THEY HEAR SOMETHING HATEFUL.
THIS WOULD MAKE SURE THAT THEY FEEL PREPARED IF THEY DO EVER RUN INTO ANY OF THOSE SITUATIONS. SO ON A TO END ON A HIGHER NOTE.
OTHER UPCOMING EVENTS THAT WE HAVE COMING UP AT LIBERTY.
WE JUST CLOSED THAT. GIRLS SOCCER AND BOYS BASKETBALL WRESTLING IS NOW UNDERWAY.
FOOTBALL, GIRLS, CROSS-COUNTRY AND GIRLS BASKETBALL WILL BE AFTER SPRING BREAK STARTING APRIL 11TH.
THE BAND CONCERT WILL HOPEFULLY BE AT THE GARBER THEATER THIS THURSDAY.
MUSICAL PERFORMANCE IS IN PREPARATION FOR THEIR APRIL PERFORMANCE, AND WE ALSO HAVE MULTIPLE CLUBS UNDERWAY, INCLUDING KNOWLEDGEABLE JAZZ DISTRICTS THIS WEEK, SCIENCE OLYMPIAD, WHICH ARE PRACTICING AND COMPETING.
WE HAVE THE RUNNING CLUB INTRAMURAL, WHICH HAS ABOUT 42 STUDENTS THAT JUST STARTED THIS WEEK. AND WE HAVE AVIATION DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS AND DANCE CLUB THAT ARE HIGHLY PARTICIPATED IN. THANK YOU.
ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU, JACKSON.
DID ANYBODY HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS FOR HIM? TRACY, I JUST WANT TO GIVE A QUICK COMMENT.
YOU'RE GOING TO BE THE FIRST ONE USING THE CARVER THEATER ON THURSDAY.
POTENTIALLY. THAT COULD BE EXCITING.
AND THEN MY OTHER COMMENT, THOUGH, IS I DID ATTEND THE EIGHTH GRADE GIRLS SOCCER GAME, THE THE SKYBRIDGE VERSUS LIBERTY.
AND I KNOW LIBERTY WON THAT ONE, BUT IT WAS LIKE 20 DEGREES OUT THAT NIGHT AND IT WAS LIKE OVERTIME TWICE AND A SHOOTOUT.
I JUST WANT TO SAY REALLY QUICK, JACKSON, THANK YOU FOR YOUR LEADERSHIP LIBERTY AND FOR DOING SOME HARD THINGS AND BRINGING STUDENTS TOGETHER TO MAKE PEOPLE FEEL INCLUDED AT YOUR SCHOOL. REALLY APPRECIATE YOU DOING THE HARD WORK.
THERE'S NOTHING MORE POWERFUL THAN STUDENT VOICE AND YOU'RE OBVIOUSLY GETTING THAT FROM YOUR PEERS AND KEEP IT UP.
WE'RE GOING TO MOVE DOWN TO OUR NEXT ITEM TO BE, WHICH IS OUR STUDENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE REPORT. DR.
WILLIAMS, DID YOU WANT TO INTRODUCE THAT? OKAY. IN STUDENT ADVISORY COUNCIL, WE'RE WORKING ON A SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING CURRICULUM. SO WITH JENNIFER MCMILLAN, WE'RE WORKING ON A SUICIDE PREVENTION CURRICULUM.
SO WE'RE GOING TO HAVE GENUINE STUDENT STORIES.
SO THAT WILL HELP EVERYONE BE ABLE TO CONNECT AND REALLY REALIZE.
AND ALSO THE ROLE PLAY SCENARIOS FROM THE CURRICULUM WERE NOT SUPER GOOD, BUT THEY BROUGHT THE POINT ACROSS EFFECTIVELY AND THEY HAD DO AND DON'T THINGS SO THAT YOU WOULD KNOW WHAT TO DO IN THE SITUATION.
SO OVERALL, I THINK THE CURRICULUM IS PRETTY GOOD AND PROBABLY HELP FOR HELPFUL FOR A LOT OF KIDS. BUT AGAIN, IT WON'T FIX EVERYTHING.
OKAY. SO, UM, ANOTHER THING THAT WE'VE BEEN WORKING ON THIS MONTH AND A FEW OF THE PAST MONTHS IS CONVERSATIONS ABOUT RACE AND PLANNING LESSONS.
SO I THINK THE BEGINNING OF THIS MONTH, WE GOT TOGETHER TO DISCUSS WHAT HAPPENED AT THE BASKETBALL GAME AND THE RACIAL SLURS THAT WERE SAID AND ALSO THE RACIAL SLURS THAT ARE SAID IN HALLWAYS EVERY DAY.
AND WE GOT TOGETHER WITH THE BLACK STUDENT UNION AT PHS AND SOME MEMBERS OF THE BASKETBALL TEAM, AND WE PLANNED SOME LESSONS FOR ADVISORY AT PHS SO THAT WE COULD ADDRESS ALL OF THOSE THINGS AND TEACH KIDS HOW TO, UH, BASICALLY HOW TO TREAT RACIAL SLURS THAT ARE SAID IN THE HALLWAYS AND STUFF.
UM, SO WE, WE PLANNED THREE LESSONS.
THE FIRST ONE IS TALKING ABOUT MICROAGGRESSIONS AND JUST TALKING ABOUT ADDRESSING PEOPLE WHO SAID RACIAL SLURS AND TALKING ABOUT WHAT THEY, WHAT THEY DID VERSUS WHAT THEY ARE.
RIGHT. SO SAYING YOU SAID SOMETHING THAT SOUNDED RACIST VERSUS YOU ARE A RACIST, TALKING ABOUT BEING LESS ACCUSING.
AND THEN WE TALKED ABOUT CALLING IT OUT VERSUS CALLING IN.
THE SECOND LESSON IS JUST DEALING MORE WITH THE CALLING OF CALLING IN, I THINK, IN
[00:10:07]
ADDRESSING RACIAL SLURS IN THE HALLWAYS AND ALL OF THAT.AND THEN THE THIRD LESSON IS TALKING ABOUT THE RACIAL SLUR ITSELF, THE N-WORD, AND TALKING ABOUT WHO IS ALLOWED TO SAY IT, THE HISTORY OF IT, AND JUST SOME OTHER STUFF ASSOCIATED WITH THAT AND WHY PEOPLE ARE SO UNCOMFORTABLE TO TALK ABOUT IT.
AND THEN WE GOT WE WENT TO THE STAFF MEETING AT CHS TO WALK THE TEACHERS THROUGH THOSE LESSONS. AND WE HAD OUR FIRST LESSON ADVISORY LAST WEEK, AND I THINK IT WENT PRETTY WELL. THERE WERE SOME THERE WAS SOME PEOPLE WHO SAID THAT A LOT OF KIDS IN THEIR CLASS WEREN'T TAKING IT VERY SERIOUSLY.
I THINK THAT'S TO BE EXPECTED.
BUT OVERALL, I THINK THE REACTION WAS PRETTY POSITIVE.
UP NEXT, WE'RE GOING TO GATHER FEEDBACK ON THE EQUITY LESSONS.
WE'RE ALSO GOING TO REVISIT ORIGINAL RECOMMENDATIONS TO PLAN WHAT WE'RE GOING TO DO NEXT. WE'RE ALSO GOING TO CONTINUE TO COLLABORATE WITH MR. MCMILLEN ON SUICIDE PREVENTION LESSONS AND.
WE'RE ALSO GOING TO SUPPORT CITY OF CHEMISTS WITH TOWN PLANNING.
UH, FINALLY, WE'RE GOING TO PLAN THE RECRUITMENT FOR OUR STUDENT ADVISORY COUNCIL 2022 AND 2023.
THANK YOU BOTH. ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS FROM THE BOARD? THANK YOU BOTH FOR COMING IN.
REPRESENTING REALLY RICH DISCUSSION THAT JENNIFER MCMILLEN WAS SO APPRECIATIVE OF WHEN THEY'RE DISCUSSING SOME CURRICULUM AROUND SUICIDE PREVENTION THAT YOUR INPUT SO VALUABLE AND WE'RE JUST SO APPRECIATIVE OF THIS GROUP THAT THEY CONTINUE TO BE SO OPEN AND TRUSTWORTHY AND AND REALLY HONEST WITH HOW THINGS ARE RECEIVED AND HOW THINGS COULD CAN BE RECEIVED AND FALL TO THOSE EARS.
AND THANK YOU, DR. WILLIAMS. ABSOLUTELY. I LOVE I LOVE HEARING ABOUT STUDENTS TEACHING TEACHERS.
THAT'S A THAT'S A FANTASTIC WAY TO TURN THAT AROUND.
ALL RIGHT. NEXT ON THE AGENDA, LET'S SEE.
[3. EXCELLENCE IN ACADEMIC, SOCIAL AND LIFELONG LEARNING]
ITEM THREE, A, WE HAVE OUR GRAND ALLIANCE GRADUATION.THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN VERY OFTEN, BUT WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A GRADUATION CEREMONY RIGHT NOW. SO I'M GOING TO GO AHEAD AND TURN IT OVER TO PRINCIPAL AMY HOLMES.
MICHAEL, DO YOU WANT TO COME ON UP? JUST COME STAND RIGHT UP HERE.
FAMILY, FRIENDS, SCHOOL BOARD AND CAMPUS COMMUNITY.
THANK YOU FOR HELPING US CELEBRATE MICHAEL'S GRADUATION THIS EVENING.
WE ARE VERY FORTUNATE THAT OUR DISTRICT RECOGNIZED A LONG TIME AGO THAT TO TRULY SERVE EACH STUDENT ON THEIR EDUCATIONAL JOURNEY, THAT FLEXIBILITY AND INNOVATION WOULD NEED TO BE REQUIRED TO VALUE EACH STUDENT MEANS THAT WE MUST SEE THEM AS INDIVIDUALS, CONNECT THEM BEYOND THE CONTENT AREA SO THAT WE CAN AMPLIFY THEIR INTEREST, PIQUE THEIR CURIOSITY, AND KEEP THEM ENGAGED.
WE ALSO HAVE TO BE PREPARED TO REMOVE BARRIERS WHEN THEY ARISE.
THE MORE OPPORTUNITIES WE HAVE IN OUR SETTINGS, THE BETTER WE CAN BE AT SERVING OUR STUDENTS. THERE IS VALUE IN EACH STUDENT'S UNIQUE PATH TOWARDS A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA, AND EARNING ONE IS SOMETHING ONE WILL NEVER REGRET.
I WORKED WITH MICHAEL FROM BEHIND THE SCENES.
I WATCHED HIS PROGRESS ON A DASHBOARD AND HELPED OUT WHEN POSSIBLE.
I DID NOT GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO KNOW HIM.
I INTERACTED WITH HIM JUST ENOUGH TO KNOW WHAT A STRONG YOUNG MAN WITH A STRONG SUPPORT SYSTEM HE IS.
AND THAT HAS HELPED HIM TO GET TO THIS DAY.
I WAS GOING TO PULL SOME INFORMATION FROM SOMETHING MICHAEL HAD WRITTEN, BUT I DECIDED TO JUST READ IT IN HIS WORDS BECAUSE IT MAKES MORE SENSE.
I'M GRATEFUL FOR THE OPPORTUNITY I HAVE BEEN GIVEN BY THE BY THE SCHOOL DISTRICT IN CAMAS IN ORDER TO EARN MY HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA.
THOUGH IT WAS HARD, I WORKED THROUGH MY ONGOING HEALTH PROBLEMS AND ACHIEVED ACADEMIC SUCCESS WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY WHO SUPPORTED ME THROUGHOUT THIS
[00:15:01]
TRYING PERIOD. WITHOUT THEM, IT IS UNLIKELY I WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO MAKE ANY MEASURE OF SUCCESS IN MY EFFORTS.NOW MY EFFORTS ARE AIMED TOWARDS NEW GOALS.
EVEN NOW, I'M WORKING TOWARDS EARNING THE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT BY COMPLETING MY REMAINING MERIT BADGES AND PLANNING MY EAGLE PROJECT.
ONE IDEA THAT I HAVE FOR AN EAGLE PROJECT IS ONE THAT BENEFITS A RESERVE UNIT THAT IS GETTING DEPLOYED SOMEWHERE OR IS ALREADY DEPLOYED.
MY FATHER WAS A REGULAR ARMY RESERVIST FOR YEARS AND THEN WENT INTO ACTIVE DUTY AS ARMY RESERVES IN THE ARMY RESERVES AND DEPLOYED OVERSEAS WHEN I WAS ONE YEARS OLD.
SO IT IS IMPORTANT TO ME TO TRY TO TIE MY BACKGROUND AS A MILITARY KID WITH MY EAGLE PROJECT. ADDITIONALLY, I'M IN THE PROCESS OF ENROLLING IN SPRING CLASSES AT CLARK COMMUNITY COLLEGE SO THAT I MAY WORK TOWARDS TRANSFERRING TO A FOUR YEAR UNIVERSITY AND EARN MY DEGREE. AS I HAVE SAID, NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE WITHOUT THE HELP OF THOSE CLOSEST TO ME.
BY PUSHING ME FORWARD TOWARDS THIS MOMENT, THEY HAVE MADE IT POSSIBLE FOR ME TO CONTINUE WITH MY LIFE DESPITE EVERYTHING, AND I SIMPLY CANNOT THANK THEM ENOUGH.
HIS MOM ALSO ADDED THAT IN THE SHORT TERM, HE'S ALSO SUPPOSED TO TAKE A CROSS-COUNTRY TRIP WITH HIS DAD. BETWEEN NOW AND THE START OF SPRING QUARTER AND FOR MOST OF HIS DAD'S CAREER, THEY LIVED ON THE EAST COAST AND THE CAROLINAS AND THEN THE WASHINGTON, D.C.
AREA TO STAY IN THE NICE WEATHER.
THEY'RE PLANNING ON TAKING THE SOUTHERN ROUTE AND VISIT NATIONAL PARKS AND OTHER INTERESTING SITES ALONG THE WAY.
HIS PARENTS ALSO WANTED TO ADD HOW VERY PROUD THEY ARE OF MICHAEL AND HIS PERSEVERANCE. WE ARE ALL SO PROUD OF YOU AND HONORED THAT YOU ARE A GRADUATE FROM THE CAMAS SCHOOL DISTRICT.
ON BEHALF OF THE CAMAS SCHOOL BOARD, I ACCEPT THAT MICHAEL SHUMAN HAS FULFILLED ALL THE REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY FOR A DIPLOMA FROM THE GRADUATION ALLIANCE.
MICHAEL GRADUATES ARE THE CROWNING JEWEL OF WHY WE DO SCHOOL.
SO TO SEE YOU WALK ACROSS THIS STAGE TODAY AND ACCEPT YOUR DIPLOMA IS QUITE AN HONOR.
AND I HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF READING A POEM TO YOU.
SO IF YOU WOULD INDULGE ME FOR JUST A MOMENT.
OUR DEEPEST FEAR IS NOT THAT WE ARE INADEQUATE.
OUR DEEPEST FEAR IS THAT WE ARE POWERFUL BEYOND MEASURE.
IT IS OUR LIGHT, NOT OUR DARKNESS, THAT MOST FRIGHTENS US.
WE ASK OURSELVES, WHO AM I TO BE? BRILLIANT, GORGEOUS, TALENTED, FABULOUS.
WHO ARE YOU NOT TO BE? YOU ARE A CHILD OF GOD.
YOU'RE PLAYING SMALL, DOES NOT SERVE THE WORLD.
THERE IS NOTHING ENLIGHTENING ABOUT SHRINKING SO THAT OTHER PEOPLE WON'T FEEL UNSURE AROUND YOU.
WE WERE BORN TO MAKE MANIFEST THE GLORY OF GOD THAT IS WITHIN US.
IT IS IN EVERYONE AS WE LET OUR OWN LIGHT SHINE.
WE CONSCIOUSLY GIVE OTHER PEOPLE PERMISSION TO DO THE SAME.
AS WE ARE LIBERATED FROM OUR OWN FEAR.
OUR PRESENCE AUTOMATICALLY LIBERATES OTHERS.
CONGRATULATIONS. WE'RE NOT DONE YET.
MY CALL. MICHAEL SHUMAN HAS FULFILLED ALL OF THE GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS OF GRADUATION ALLIANCE AND THE STATE OF WASHINGTON ON BEHALF OF THE CAMAS SCHOOL DISTRICT, THE SCHOOL BOARD AND THE COMMUNITY.
I WOULD LIKE TO PRESENT THIS WONDERFUL GRADUATE TO YOU ALL.
THAT'S AWESOME. CONGRATULATIONS.
ALL RIGHT. WELL, WHAT COULD POSSIBLY TOP THAT? BUT WE'RE GOING TO MOVE ON TO ITEM THREE BEE LISA GRIFFITH.
GRIFFITH IS GOING TO TALK ABOUT THE TIPTON PROFESSIONAL LEARNING LEGACY.
[00:20:07]
IT WILL DISSUADE ME FROM THAT.TONIGHT IS A NIGHT OF CELEBRATION.
BOTH OF OUR STUDENTS, IF YOU JUST HAVE HEARD FROM AND ALSO OF OUR TEACHERS AND THOSE WHO GIVE, THOSE WHO RECEIVE ONLY TO GIVE AGAIN.
MARY AND GARY TIPTON WERE A PRESENCE ON THE SCHOOL BOARD FROM 2005 TO 2016 11 YEARS OF SERVICE. DURING THAT TIME, OUR DISTRICT EXPERIENCED TREMENDOUS GROWTH, BOTH IN THE NUMBERS OF STUDENTS THAT WE SERVED, AS WELL AS THE OPPORTUNITIES AND PROGRAMS THAT WERE AVAILABLE TO OUR STUDENTS.
AND THAT IS IN PART DUE TO THE LEADERSHIP THAT THEY PROVIDED ON THE BOARD AT THAT TIME.
IN HONOR OF THEIR SERVICE THAT TIPPED IN PROFESSIONAL LEARNING, LEGACY WAS ESTABLISHED TO RECOGNIZE AND SUPPORT STAFF WITH ASSISTANCE IN TUITION AND FEES FOR PROFESSIONAL LEARNING, FOR DEMONSTRATING LEADERSHIP AND IMPACTING THE DISTRICT SIGNIFICANTLY. EACH YEAR THERE'S A COMMITTEE THAT MEETS THAT INCLUDES A TIPTON FAMILY REPRESENTATIVE, AS WELL AS DISTRICT STAFF TO REVIEW ALL APPLICATIONS AND TO MAKE AWARDS FOR THE CURRENT YEAR.
THIS YEAR, WE HAVE SEVEN RECIPIENTS OF THE TIPTON PROFESSIONAL LEARNING LEGACY, AND I'D LIKE TO CALL UP THOSE WHO ARE WITH US TODAY.
LET'S SEE. AND COLLEEN AND IS KIM HERE? I KNOW. WERE YOU WERE YOU SCARED THAT I WAS GOING TO HAVE YOU COME UP ONE AT A TIME? HERE. COME ON UP HERE.
OKAY. NOT WITH US THIS EVENING ARE KIM RITTER, JENNIFER RODRIGUEZ AND BRADY MILLER.
SO SEVEN RECIPIENTS WHO ARE ALL ENGAGING IN ADVANCING THEIR PROFESSIONAL LEARNING IN ORDER TO CONTRIBUTE AND INCREASE THEIR CONTRIBUTION TO OUR STUDENTS HERE IN CAMAS SCHOOL DISTRICT. AND SO I'M I KNOW I KNOW THAT PART.
BUT IF YOU WOULD JUST INTRODUCE YOURSELF AND SAY WHAT IT IS THAT YOU'RE GOING TO BE DOING IN TERMS OF LEARNING FOR PROFESSIONAL LEARNING THAT THIS GRANT HELPS YOU WITH.
I'M COLLEEN RUSCH, AND I'M CURRENTLY WORKING ON MY PRINCIPAL CERTIFICATION AT EASTERN WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY.
I'M SABRINA CRABTREE, AND I'M USING IT TOWARDS ORTON GILLINGHAM TRAINING TO HELP OUR STRUGGLING READERS.
MY NAME IS MELISSA BUTLER, AND I'M ALSO WORKING ON MY GILLINGHAM DYSLEXIA CERTIFICATION WITH A PRACTICUM THIS YEAR.
AWESOME. MY NAME IS SHANNON LARSON AND I'M CURRENTLY GETTING MY MASTER'S IN SCHOOL COUNSELING AT GEORGE FOX UNIVERSITY.
THANK YOU. AND I'D ALSO LIKE TO RECOGNIZE THAT EACH YEAR CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE FUND ARE MADE FROM THE TIPTON FAMILY, AS WELL AS OUR BARGAINING UNITS AND OUR FOUNDATION FOR CAMAS TO CONTINUE TO SUPPORT EFFORTS SUCH AS THESE, WHICH AGAIN RETURN TO OUR STUDENTS IN SO MANY WAYS.
IN ADDITION, COLLEEN NAU, KIM RITTER IS WORKING ON HER TRANSPORTATION MANAGEMENT PROGRAM, SO IT'S AVAILABLE FOR BOTH CERTIFIED AND CLASSIFIED STAFF.
JENNIFER RODRIGUEZ IS WORKING ON HER TEACHER CERTIFICATION IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING AND READING THROUGH THE OUR EDUCATION SERVICES DISTRICT LOCAL PROGRAM.
AND BRADY MILICIC, WHO IS A CTE TEACHER, IS WORKING ON HIS M.A.
IN EDUCATION AGAIN IN ORDER TO CONTINUE TO SUPPORT OUR STUDENTS IN SO MANY STRONG WAYS.
AND SO WITH THAT, WE THANK BOTH OUR RECIPIENTS AND ALSO THOSE WHO CONTRIBUTE SO THAT EACH YEAR WE CAN RECOGNIZE THE LEARNING THAT OUR STAFF DOES TO HELP OUR STUDENTS.
CONGRATULATIONS. YEAH, WE CAN APPLAUD ONE MORE TIME.
MOVING ALONG. ITEM NUMBER FOUR, BOARD COMMUNICATIONS.
[4. BOARD COMMUNICATIONS]
JUST OPEN IT UP TO MY COLLEAGUES FOR ANYTHING THAT THEY'D LIKE TO SHARE OR TALK ABOUT. WELL, I JUST LIKE IT'S BEEN A BUSY MONTH.SO WE, WE JUST FINISHED TODAY CITY SCHOOLS MEETING.
IT WAS NICE TO BE BACK IN PERSON AGAIN AND WE ACTUALLY OFFERED TO MEET OUTSIDE OF THE SCHOOL AND MAYBE MEET OVER IN IN THE CITY HALL OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT.
[00:25:01]
BUT JUST COMING TOGETHER AND TALKING ABOUT JOINT LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES THAT WE CAN WORK ON TOGETHER.WHAT WHAT IS CURRENTLY HAPPENING WITH THE DISTRICT, WHAT'S CURRENTLY HAPPENING IN THE CITY THAT WE CAN WORK TOGETHER ON? THAT WAS IT WAS A GREAT MEETING.
STUDENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE MET EARLIER THIS MONTH AND LIKE I SAID, THEY'RE HELPING GROW AND CREATE THAT THE THE LEARNING AND HELPING TEACHERS AS A PART OF THE PROCESS.
AND THEN CAC HAPPENED LATER THAT NIGHT AND THEN WE ALSO HAD SUPERINTENDENT BUDGET COMMITTEE. YOU AND I DID, YEAH.
SO JUST GETTING READY FOR THE LEGISLATIVE PROCESS TO END UP IN OLYMPIA, I THINK MARCH 10TH AND FOR US TO START THINKING ABOUT NEXT YEAR'S BUDGET.
I KNOW THAT WE'LL BE DIGGING IN MORE IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF MONTHS.
SO THAT'S WHAT'S BEEN THAT'S ALL THAT'S BEEN HAPPENING IN A SHORT MONTH OF FEBRUARY.
AM I RIGHT? DO WE HAVE A LEDGER UP NOW? SINCE YOU USED TO BE THE LEDGER? ARE YOU STILL THE LEDGER? OKAY, JUST CHECKING.
THANKS. I JUST HAD JUST REAL BRIEFLY TO TO ADD HERE AND FOR EVERYONE IN ATTENDANCE, TODAY WAS AN EXCITING DAY IN OUR DISTRICT BECAUSE TODAY WAS OUR FIRST OFFICIAL TRANSITION DAY WITH OUR NEW INCOMING SUPERINTENDENT, DR.
DR. ANZALONE HAS BEEN UP HERE FOR A LONG WEEKEND AND I'M MENTIONING THIS NOW BECAUSE HE MAY HAVE TO SCOOT TO GO CATCH A FLIGHT HERE IN A LITTLE BIT TO GO BACK.
HE'S WORKING TWO JOBS RIGHT NOW.
ANZALONE WAS HERE MEETING WITH DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION AND HAD SOME TIME WITH DOUG.
I WAS FORTUNATE TO GET TO SPEND THE AFTERNOON WITH HIM GOING AROUND AND TOURING SOME OF THE BUILDINGS, GETTING SOME FACE TIME IN THERE, SEEING WHAT'S GOING ON.
AND AS IS TYPICAL WITH THESE THINGS, HE HAD LOTS TO DO AND PROBABLY DIDN'T COME EVEN CLOSE TO SCRATCHING THE SURFACE, BUT HE'S GOING TO BE BACK IN SUBSEQUENT MONTHS WORKING. JOHN, I DON'T KNOW IF YOU HAD ANYTHING THAT YOU WANTED TO SAY.
SORRY TO JUST PUT YOU ON THE SPOT.
BUT SINCE HE'S HERE AND HE'S COME ALL THIS WAY.
MUCH. FIRST OF ALL, FOR THE WARM WELCOME.
I CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY.
COME A LONG WAY FROM LAS VEGAS, NEVADA.
HEADING BACK TONIGHT, BRINGING THE RAIN WITH ME.
I DON'T KNOW. WE DON'T GET MUCH OF THAT THERE.
BUT WE HAD A WHIRLWIND WEEKEND WITH MY FAMILY.
THEY ABSOLUTELY ADORED CAMAS AND THE WASHINGTON AREA.
WE WERE ABLE TO GO TO THE COAST OVER THE WEEKEND.
AGAIN, A LITTLE COLD, BUT WE GOT THROUGH IT AND THE STAFF HAS JUST BEEN PHENOMENAL.
AGAIN, THE BOARD, GAIL, THE REST OF THE STAFF I WAS ABLE TO MEET, BUT I THINK MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE SCHOOL VISITS WITH WITH COREY AND DEREK TODAY.
IT WAS A GREAT TOUR, MET AN AMAZING GROUP OF PRINCIPALS AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE STUDENTS. AND I WILL TELL YOU THAT THERE ARE AND I KNOW I'M PREACHING TO THE CHOIR HERE, BUT THERE ARE SOME ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE THINGS HAPPENING IN THOSE CLASSROOMS. AND SO AS FAMILIES, YOU SHOULD BE SO PROUD OF WHERE YOUR KIDS ARE GOING TO SCHOOL EVERY DAY, LED BY THIS BOARD AND LED BY THIS CABINET AND THE STAFF.
SO IT'S JUST AN HONOR TO BE A PART OF THIS.
I CAN'T WAIT TO COME BACK IN MARCH AND I'M ALREADY COUNTING THE DAYS AND I'LL SEE YOU IN A MONTH. SO THANK YOU SO MUCH, COREY.
ALL RIGHT. ANYTHING ELSE? OKAY. GREAT. ALL RIGHT.
WELL, THEN, MOVING ON, WE ARE GOING TO MOVE ON TO PUBLIC COMMENT.
[5. PUBLIC COMMENTS]
SO I HAVE MY LIST HERE.FIRST TO START OUT, WE DID RECEIVE ONE WRITTEN PUBLIC COMMENT WHICH IS INCLUDED FOR THE RECORD IN OUR AGENDA ON THE WEBSITE.
THE BOARD VALUES PUBLIC INPUT.
THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE BOARD IS TO ACTIVELY LISTEN AND REFLECT ON THE PUBLIC COMMENTS. THE BOARD MAY ONLY DISCUSS AND ACT UPON ITEMS INCLUDED ON THE WRITTEN AGENDA.
FOR THAT REASON, BOARD MEMBERS CANNOT RESPOND TO ANY COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS DURING PUBLIC COMMENT, BUT CAN ASK THE SUPERINTENDENT TO FOLLOW UP ON ISSUES RELATED RAISED DURING PUBLIC TESTIMONY.
GUIDELINES FOR PUBLIC INPUT EMPHASIZE THE RESPECT AND CONSIDERATION OF OTHERS.
BOISTEROUS CONDUCT WILL NOT BE PERMITTED AT ANY MEETING OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS, NOR WILL ANY HARASSING OR THREATENING REMARKS BE TOLERATED.
COMPLAINTS ABOUT INDIVIDUAL EMPLOYEES SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO THE SUPERINTENDENT'S OFFICE AS A PERSONNEL MATTER. DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH REQUIREMENTS STATE THAT MASKS MUST REMAIN ON WHEN IN SCHOOL SETTINGS. THANK YOU FOR FOLLOWING THIS REQUIREMENT.
EACH PERSON PROVIDING PUBLIC COMMENT WILL HAVE A TOTAL OF 3 MINUTES ONCE CALLED UPON.
PLEASE STEP UP TO THE MICROPHONE, FACE THE BOARD AND STATE YOUR NAME FOR THE RECORD.
THE BELL WILL RING AT 3 MINUTES TO REMIND YOU THAT YOUR TIME IS UP.
WE'LL CONTINUE THE PROCESS OF SIGNING IN FOR PUBLIC COMMENT, WHICH I'VE GOT THE LIST HERE AND GOING OFF THE LIST GIVEN TO ME.
[00:30:02]
SO OUR FIRST PERSON AND ON THE ON THE DOCKET TONIGHT, I BELIEVE IT SAYS NICOLE USHER OC.NICOLE. CAN YOU HEAR ME? OKAY? ALL RIGHT. AT THE START OF THIS YEAR, A GRASSROOTS MOVEMENT OF PARENTS ACROSS THE STATE SUBMITTED IDENTICAL PUBLIC DISCLOSURE REQUESTS PDRS TO OVER 60 SCHOOL DISTRICTS PREPARED BY A TRIBAL LAWYER, LEWIS EWING.
YOU, THE CAMAS SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD MEMBERS EACH RECEIVED LENGTHY DOCUMENTS WITH TWO FROM TWO OF OUR PARENTS BY PROCESS SERVER ON FEBRUARY 4TH AND SHOULD BE FAMILIAR WITH THEIR CONTENTS BY NOW.
NOW AS GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS ARE CHANGING THEIR TUNE EVERY HOUR, IT SEEMS THERE ARE MANY MORE CAMAS PARENTS SUBMITTING THEIR PDRS TO YOU HERE TODAY.
THE WASHINGTON PARENT ALLIANCE WAPA CONTINUES TO GROW AND CURRENTLY HAS OVER 10,000 PARTICIPANTS WITH MORE DISTRICTS COMING ON BOARD EVERY WEEK.
THIS IS NOT A FUNDED NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION.
YOU WILL NOT FIND MORE INFORMATION ABOUT WAPA ONLINE.
THE MOVEMENT OF PARENTS HAVE GATHERED TO EDUCATE THEMSELVES ON WASHINGTON LAWS THAT CREATE AND GOVERN OUR SCHOOL SYSTEM.
FOR TOO LONG, PARENTS HAVE BEEN IGNORED.
I'M SORRY. I HAVE BEEN IGNORANT OR UNINVOLVED IN MATTERS THAT INFLUENCE OUR CHILDREN'S EXPERIENCE IN SCHOOLS, AND WE AIM TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THAT MISTAKE.
AS THESE PDRS WERE BEING SUBMITTED.
WHAT WE DISCOVERED AS PARENTS WAS ASTONISHING.
THE MAJORITY OF SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS ARE JUST AS IGNORANT OF THE LAWS THAT GOVERN THEM AS WE ARE. PERHAPS WE CAN LEARN TOGETHER.
TYPE 28 A INTO INDIE SEARCH ENGINE AND BEGIN THE JOURNEY.
AS DOCUMENTS WERE SHARED TO BOARD MEMBERS, WE WERE MET WITH MULTIPLE REACTIONS.
MANY WERE GRATEFUL FOR THE EFFORTS THAT US PARENTS WERE MAKING TO HELP THEM FIND INFORMATION FROM STATE AGENCIES THAT WERE ALSO CURIOUS ABOUT.
THEY APPRECIATED THAT WE WERE BRINGING ATTENTION TO THE LAW THAT THE SCHOOLS MIGHT BE VIOLATING. OTHER BOARD MEMBERS REACTIONS WITH CONFUSION AND OTHERS REVEALED HOW LITTLE THEY KNEW OF THE RELEVANT LAWS PASSED OR AMENDED THAT LEGALLY COMPELLED THEM TO ATTEND WASA TRAINING THAT MAY OR MAY NOT AGREE WITH.
AND I'M GOING TO COMPEL MY I'M GOING TO YIELD MY TIME.
SO WE AS PARENTS ARE USING THE PDR PROCESS TO DO TO THE TO DO THE JOB THAT OUR COUNTY SHERIFFS AND YOUR LEGAL COUNSEL SHOULD HAVE BEEN DOING, EDUCATING YOU ON THE LAWS.
THAT THE SCHOOLS COULD BE VIOLATING AS THEY FORCED OR COERCED VACCINES AND MASKS ON EMPLOYEES AND STUDENTS AS DESCRIBED IN THE PDR, THE SOCIAL SECURITY ACT, AS CODIFIED IN FEDERAL LAW. TITLE 42, CHAPTER SEVEN SUBCHAPTER 19, SECTION 1396, SUBSECTION F AS CODIFIED AT 42 U.S.C.
1396, F APPEARS TO PROVIDE A FEDERAL RELIGIOUS EXEMPTION FROM ALL MEDICAL TREATMENT OR TESTING BASED UPON RELIGIOUS OBJECTION.
AND HOW MANY TEACHERS AND STAFF APPLIED FOR RELIGIOUS EXEMPTIONS FROM THE EXPERIMENTAL COVID 19 VACCINE AND WERE DENIED HOW MANY INVALUABLE TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS WERE FORCED TO QUIT OR BE COERCED INTO GETTING A MEDICAL PRODUCT THEY HAD HESITATIONS ABOUT.
EVERY STATE IN THE UNION HAS A LAW ON INFORMED CONSENT, WHICH OUTLINES THAT MEDICAL DOCTORS MUST INFORM A PATIENT OF RISK AND BENEFITS OF ANY MEDICAL PRODUCT OR DEVICE AND RECEIVE A CONSENT TO ADMINISTER THE DRUG WITHOUT COERCION.
IT IS IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THREATENING ONE'S JOB IF THEY DO NOT TAKE A VACCINE COULD BE CONSIDERED COERCION? MEDICAL DOCTORS DID NOT MANDATE YOUR EMPLOYEES TO GET VACCINATED.
IS THE DISTRICT COMPRISED OF MEDICAL DOCTORS WHO HAVE THE ABILITY TO CARRY OUT INFORMED CONSENT. IT'S JUST A QUESTION TO CONSIDER, NOT TO ANSWER.
AND ERICA. AND COREY AND DOUG.
I'M GOING TO CONTINUE READING.
HOW ABOUT SECTION 504 OF THE REHABILITATION ACT OF 1973 AND THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT AMENDMENTS ACT OF 2008, WHICH CLEARLY OUTLINES THAT A MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS FROM A DOCTOR IS NOT REQUIRED TO GET AN ACCOMMODATION FOR DISABILITY.
HOW MANY PARENTS IN YOUR DISTRICTS APPLIED FOR A MEDICAL EXEMPTION FOR THEIR CHILDREN WHO HAD DIFFICULTY WEARING A MASK? HOW MANY WERE COERCED INTO THINKING THAT THEY WERE LAWFULLY COMPELLED TO PROVIDE A MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS TO GET THE MASK EXEMPTION?
[00:35:02]
SORRY, I'M KIND OF SHORT, LIKE HAVING TROUBLE REACHING.CAN I DO THAT? I FEEL LIKE I'M LIKE, THERE WE GO.
THANK YOU. HOW AND HOW MANY WERE DENIED SUCH SUCH AN EXEMPTION EVEN AFTER GETTING THEIR DOCTOR'S NOTE, PAGE THREE OF THE SECTION 504 AND STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES PDF FOUND ON THE WEBSITE FOR THE WASHINGTON OFFICE OF THE SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION, CLEARLY STATES THAT A SCHOOL CANNOT REQUIRE A PARENT TO PROVIDE A MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS TO EVALUATE A STUDENT. YET SEATTLE SCHOOL DISTRICT REQUIRED A MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS ON THEIR MATH EXEMPTION FORMS. HOW MANY OTHER SCHOOLS PLAYED THIS TRICK ON PARENTS INSINUATING THAT PARENTS NEEDED TO JUMP THROUGH HOOPS TO PROTECT THEIR CHILDREN WHEN LAWFULLY THEY DID NOT? WHEN PUBLIC OFFICIALS IMPLY AUTHORITY, THEY DO NOT HAVE OR INSINUATE LAWFUL REQUIREMENTS THAT DO NOT EXIST.
IS THIS NOT OPERATING UNDER THE COLOR OF LAW? WE ARE NOT LAWYERS.
BUT LAST WE CHECKED, OPERATING UNDER THE COLOR OF LAW IS CALLED OFFICIAL MISCONDUCT.
AND IT IS A GROSS MISDEMEANOR IN THIS STATE.
AND I WILL YIELD MY TIME TO JARED.
THANK YOU. JARED ROWE IS NEXT.
I WILL CONTINUE WITH A NOTE ON OUR CW NINE A .80.010.
NUMBER ONE, A PUBLIC SERVANT IS GUILTY OF OFFICIAL MISCONDUCT IF WITH INTENT TO OBTAIN A BENEFIT OR TO DEPRIVE ANOTHER PERSON OF A LAWFUL RIGHT OR PRIVILEGE.
A HE OR SHE INTENTIONALLY COMMITS AN UNAUTHORIZED ACT UNDER COLOR OF LAW.
OR B HE OR SHE INTENTIONALLY REFRAINS FROM PERFORMING A DUTY IMPOSED UPON HIM OR HER BY LAW. AND THE NUMBER TWO OFFICIAL MISCONDUCT IS A GROSS MISDEMEANOR.
WAPA SERVED YOU THESE PUBLIC DISCLOSURE REQUESTS AS A COURTESY AND A FAVOR TO INFORM YOU OF THE POSSIBLE LEGAL LIABILITIES.
THAT YOUR OWN SDA GROOMED LAWYERS DID NOT.
THE STATE AGENCIES THAT COMPELLED SCHOOL DISTRICTS TO CARRY OUT MASKING AND VACCINATION OR VACCINATING MEASURES KNEW THAT THE SAFEST WAY.
TO AVOID LEGAL LIABILITY FOR VACCINE INJURIES AND THE HARMFUL EFFECTS OF LONG TERM MASK WEARING WAS TO PASS THAT LIABILITY DOWN TO THE LOWEST LOCAL LEVEL THE SCHOOL DISTRICT, NOT THE STATE.
WHY DID FDA SEND A STATEWIDE ALERT AND ADVISE SCHOOLS TO SEEK LEGAL COUNSEL WHEN THEY WERE INFORMED THAT SO MANY DISTRICTS ACROSS THE STATE WERE BEING SERVED? IDENTICAL PUBLIC DISCLOSURE REQUESTS ASKING FOR UNIDENTIFIABLE RECORDS.
NOW YIELD MY TIME TO VERONICA.
THANK YOU. MY NAME IS VERONICA GRAVES.
WE ARE LEARNING OUR SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS.
TO THE LEGAL LIABILITY THAT THEIR OWN LEGAL COUNSEL MAY HAVE BEEN TOO NERVOUS OR IGNORANT TO SHARE WITH THEM.
IF YOU CLAIM THAT YOU WERE JUST FOLLOWING ORDERS FROM THE STATE.
WE'LL PROTECT YOU IF YOU ARE DOWN THE LINE.
IF IT IS PROVEN THAT OUR GOVERNOR'S EMERGENCY ORDERS WERE BASED ON FRAUDULENT DATA. I YIELD MY TIME.
THANK YOU. BONNIE RUIZ IS NEXT.
FINALLY, IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE HOW MANY OF THE REQUESTS WE MADE, AND THOSE DOCUMENTS WERE, IN A SENSE, RHETORICAL QUESTIONS.
WE ASKED FOR SPECIFIC DOCUMENTS ON SAFETY DATA FOR THE COVID 19 VACCINES THAT WE KNOW DO NOT EXIST.
WE DID THIS TO POINT OUT THAT THESE DOCUMENTS SHOULD EXIST.
HOW CAN VACCINES BE MANDATED TO TEACHERS AFTER PFIZER HAS BEEN SO RELUCTANT TO SHARE SAFETY DATA WITH THE PUBLIC? AND THERE ARE NO INFORMATIONAL INSERTS IN THE VACCINE PACKAGES.
WE ASKED FOR PROOF OF FDA AUTHORIZATION BECAUSE WE KNOW IT DOES NOT EXIST.
THE VACCINES ARE STILL UNDER ONLY UNDER EMERGENCY USE USE AUTHORIZATION, WHICH IS ANOTHER WAY FOR VACCINE MANUFACTURERS TO EXEMPT THEMSELVES FROM LIABILITY FOR THE INJURED. THESE ARE BOLD STATEMENTS, BUT THEY ARE MEANT TO HELP YOU SEE THROUGH THE VEIL OF MEDIA CENSORSHIP THAT KEPT THE REAL DATA FROM YOU.
OUR MOVEMENT IS COMPRISED OF TEACHERS WHO HAVE ALREADY BEEN INJURED BY THESE VACCINES, BUS DRIVERS WHO SUFFER FROM NUM NUM EXTREMITIES, BASKETBALL COACHES WHO HAVE
[00:40:02]
PARALYZED ARMS, TEACHERS WITH STROKES AND BLOOD CLOTS, AND TOO MANY WHO HAVE RECENTLY BURIED THEIR PARENTS WHO DIED OF HEART FAILURE AFTER TAKING THE VACCINES.PLEASE GET CURIOUS AND DIG DEEPER.
OUR MOST FERVENT WORK, OUR MOST FERVENT GOAL IS TO WORK WITH YOU, NOT AGAINST YOU.
AFTER ALL, WE ARE NEIGHBORS IN THE SAME COMMUNITY WHO OUGHT TO BE LOOKING OUT FOR EACH OTHER. MAY GOD DELIVER US FROM THIS MESS.
THANK YOU. NEXT IS MALIA EPHRAIM.
HI. MY NAME IS MOLLY EPHRAIM, AND I'M A SEVENTH GRADER AT ODYSSEY MIDDLE SCHOOL.
KIM IS SCHOOL DISTRICT'S FOCUS ON EQUITY IS IMPORTANT TO ME BECAUSE KNOWING THAT THEY'RE MAKING EFFORTS AND EXPERIENCING THEM FIRSTHAND HELPED ME FEEL LIKE I'M AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE COMMUNITY.
AND I CAN BE WHO I AM AND WHO I WANT TO BE WITHOUT JUDGMENT OR FEELING LIKE I DON'T BELONG. IT WOULD BE COOL TO SEE MY SCHOOL INCLUDE MY CULTURE AND MY LEARNING.
THIS WILL HELP ME FEEL MORE CONNECTED TO MY ACADEMICS.
FOR EXAMPLE, IF WE ARE LEARNING ABOUT IMPORTANT PEOPLE WHO CONTRIBUTED TO OUR COUNTRY. IT WOULD BE NICE FOR THEM TO INCLUDE AND HIGHLIGHT MATHEMATICIANS OR SCIENTISTS OF COLOR LIKE KATHERINE JOHNSON, WHO WAS A MATHEMATICIAN WHOSE CONTRIBUTIONS WERE CRITICAL IN ACCOMPLISHING THE FIRST US CREWED SPACEFLIGHT, OR MAE JEMISON, WHO WAS THE FIRST BLACK WOMAN TO TRAVEL INTO SPACE.
KNOWING THESE THINGS AND INCLUDING THEM NOT ONLY ENCOURAGES AND INSPIRES ME, BUT IT WILL ENCOURAGE ALL STUDENTS AND LETTING THEM KNOW THAT GENIUS COMES IN ALL SHADES AND ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. REPRESENTATION MATTERS AND HAS AN INFLUENTIAL IMPACT ON PEOPLE OF ALL BACKGROUNDS. I WANT TO THANK THE BOARD FOR GIVING ME A CHANCE TO SPEAK WITH YOU TONIGHT.
AND I WANT OUR COMMUNITY TO KNOW THAT ALTHOUGH TODAY IS THE FINAL DAY OF BLACK HISTORY MONTH, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT WE HIGHLIGHT THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF DIVERSE PEOPLE ALL YEAR LONG.
THANK YOU. THANK YOU. BRANDY HEYWARD IS NEXT.
ALL RIGHT. SO I ALREADY GAVE MY WRITTEN PUBLIC COMMENT AND I HOPE TO HAVE A RESPONSE FROM THAT. BUT AS OF RIGHT NOW, I'LL USE MY TIME TO INTRODUCE SOME OF THE PARENTS FROM THE WASHINGTON PARENTS ALLIANCE.
AND THEY HAVE 22 PACKETS FOR EACH OF YOU BOARD MEMBERS TONIGHT.
THEY DO CONTAIN THE PUBLIC RECORDS REQUEST THAT WE JUST EXPLAINED TO.
ALL OF CLARK COUNTY HAS NOW BEEN SERVED BY A PROCESS SERVER.
THE SHERIFF HAS BEEN NOTIFIED.
OUR FINAL PUBLIC COMMENT TONIGHT IS BRIAN ANDERSON.
HEY. GOOD EVENING. I'M BRIAN ANDERSON.
I HAVE TWO KIDS WHEN ODYSSEY MIDDLE SCHOOL AND WHEN IT PRUNE HILL ELEMENTARY HERE TODAY TO SHARE TWO THINGS ONE, A LITTLE BIT OF GRATITUDE AND THEN TO ENCOURAGE YOU TO CONTINUE OUR INVESTMENT IN OUR LITERACY SKILLS, ESPECIALLY FOR OUR EARLY K THREE STUDENTS. FIRST, THE GRATITUDE.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE DISTRICT.
I'VE UNDERSTOOD THAT YOU'RE NOW GETTING SOME MORE KEY TO TEACHERS WHERE THEY'RE GETTING THE LETTERS. TRAINING.
LETTERS TRAINING IS ONE OF THE PREMIER PROGRAMS IN THE COUNTRY.
SOME STATES ARE ACTUALLY HAVING ALL K TO TEACHERS USE THAT PROGRAM SO THEY CAN LEARN ABOUT STRUCTURED LITERACY.
THE IMPORTANCE OF EXPLICIT AND SYSTEMATIC INSTRUCTION.
SO GOOD JOB OF GETTING THOSE ON BOARD TOO.
I JUST HEARD ABOUT TONIGHT WE HAD TWO NEW OG.
THEY'RE GOING THROUGH THAT CERTIFICATION, WHICH WE'VE BEEN MISSING FOR QUITE A WHILE, WAY TOO LONG. SO GLAD TO HEAR ABOUT THAT.
AND THEN THE LAST PART WAS JUST THE CONTINUOUS DRIVE TO PROVIDE THAT FOR THE TEACHERS. WE KNOW THERE'S A GAP IN THE COLLEGES.
THEY'RE NOT PROVIDING THAT SCIENCE OF READING INSTRUCTION.
AND WE ALSO CAN RECOGNIZE THAT OUR DISTRICT, WE'VE BEEN MISSING, WE'VE HAD THAT GAP, TOO, IN OUR APPEAL SEASON PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.
SO WHY IS THIS SO IMPORTANT? IT'S IMPORTANT BECAUSE STRUCTURE, LITERACY, IT'S A REQUIRED SKILL.
IT'S REQUIRED THAT APPROACH IS REQUIRED FOR ALL FOR ABOUT 60% OF THE STUDENTS.
FOR 10 TO 15% OF OUR STUDENTS.
THEY HAVE DYSLEXIA AND THEY REQUIRE EXPLICIT AND SYSTEMATIC INSTRUCTION WITH FREQUENT REPETITIONS. RIGHT.
ALL RIGHT. THERE'S THE NEXT 35 TO 40% OF STUDENTS.
[00:45:04]
THEY ALSO REQUIRE TO READ THAT EXPLICIT AND SYSTEMATIC INSTRUCTION.AND YOU CAN KIND OF GO TO THE IDA WEBSITE, NANCY, DR.
NANCY YOUNG, AND LEARN ABOUT THE LADDER OF READING.
SO A LOT OF YOUR READING SPECIALISTS ARE LEARNING ABOUT THAT.
SO THAT'S WHY IT'S SO IMPORTANT THAT WE CAN IMPROVE OUR LITERACY RATES AT AN EARLY AGE SO WE CAN FOCUS MORE ON PREVENTION INSTEAD OF INTERVENTION.
AND AS JUST AS A PERSONAL STORY, AS A FATHER OF A CHILD WITH DYSLEXIA THROUGH OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT, SHE WENT THROUGH THAT TYPICAL PROCESS OF BEING A GREAT STUDENT, BEING A GREAT STUDENT IN THE CLASSROOM.
TEACHERS WOULD TELL US THAT SHE'S WORKING SO HARD.
SHE'S A WONDER. SHE'S A WONDERFUL CHILD TO BE IN THE CLASSROOM.
BUT YEAR AFTER YEAR, SHE WOULD NOT GET THOSE READING SKILLS.
WE WEREN'T APPLYING THE CORRECT READING STRATEGIES TO HELP HER LEARN, AND OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT WASN'T DOING IT. SO THE SCHOOL SYSTEM AND PARENTS, WE WEREN'T DOING A GOOD JOB OF HELPING HER.
SO AS PARENTS, WE HAD TO GO OUTSIDE OF THE DISTRICT TO BEAVERTON, WE HAD TO GET A RECESS, AND THEY ASSESSED HER WITH DYSLEXIA AND DYSTROPHY.
AND THEN AFTERWARDS WE HAD TO FIND A GILLINGHAM TRAINER, A TUTOR TO TUTOR HER FOR THE NEXT THREE YEARS.
SO THIS WAS ALL OUT OF POCKET AND THAT WAS PRIMARILY DONE BECAUSE WE DIDN'T HAVE THOSE RESOURCES HERE IN THE DISTRICT.
I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN GET 30 SECONDS OR JUST STOP.
OH, WELL, I'LL JUST SAY THOSE ARE THE TWO THINGS CONTINUE WITH THE PD, BECAUSE STRUCTURE, LITERACY IS VERY IMPORTANT TO THAT AND JUST CONTINUE TO ENSURE THAT WE PROVIDE THOSE TEACHERS WITH THE APPROPRIATE RESOURCES AND TRAINING BECAUSE WE'LL SEE INCREASE STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT RATES AND IMPROVE LITERACY SKILLS.
THAT BRINGS US TO THE END OF OUR PUBLIC COMMENT.
THANK YOU. WE'RE GOING TO MOVE ON TO THE BUSINESS PORTION OF OUR MEETING.
EVERYBODY'S WELCOME TO STAY WHILE WE CONDUCT BUSINESS OR YOU'RE FREE TO LEAVE AT ANY TIME.
[6. ITEMS ADDED TO AGENDA]
WE'RE GOING TO MOVE ON TO ITEM SIX.WE HAD FOUR ITEMS ADDED TO THE AGENDA AND THOSE ARE LISTED LATER ON IN THEIR APPROPRIATE SPOTS.
[7. CONSENT AGENDA]
SO ITEM SEVEN, I'M LOOKING FOR A MOTION TO APPROVE OUR CONSENT AGENDA.I WILL MAKE THE MOTION TO APPROVE THE CONSENT AGENDA.
SO IT WAS MOVED BY TRACEY AND SECONDED BY ERIKA.
ALL THOSE IN FAVOR YOU OPPOSED? MOTION CARRIES. ALL RIGHT, NEXT ITEM EIGHT.
[8. PUBLIC HEARING]
BEFORE I OPEN THE PUBLIC HEARING FOR THE DIRECTOR DISTRICT REDISTRICTING PLAN, I'LL HAVE JASON MCKEITHEN COME UP TO THE PODIUM AND GIVE US A LITTLE INTRODUCTION.SO, YES, EVERY TEN YEARS THE U.S.
CENSUS COMES OUT AND THAT TRIGGERS BASICALLY A REDISTRICTING PROCESS BY ALL LOCAL GOVERNMENTS. AND AND.
WE HAVE FIVE VOTING DISTRICTS.
AND SO PART OF THE PUBLIC PROCESS OF THAT IS WE'VE CREATED A WEBSITE WITH THIS INFORMATION. WE ENGAGED WITH FLOW ANALYTICS.
TO HELP US WITH THIS PROCESS AND DO SOME MODELING.
THIS WEBSITE HAS TWO DIFFERENT OPTIONS.
AND THIS EVENING IS KIND OF THE START FOR A PUBLIC HEARING.
OKAY, GREAT. BEFORE I OPEN THAT, I JUST WANT A COUPLE OF CLARIFYING THINGS.
NUMBER ONE, THESE THESE MAPS WERE WORKED ON AT OUR LAST WORKSHOP IN MARCH WITH OUR OUR OUR CONSULTANT FROM FLOW ANALYTICS.
AND THEN ALSO JUST BECAUSE WE'RE TALKING ABOUT REDISTRICTING AND THAT CAN SOMETIMES TRIGGER SOME THINGS.
THIS IS ONLY REGARDING SCHOOL DIRECTOR AREA DISTRICTS.
THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SCHOOL ATTENDANCE BOUNDARIES OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT.
YOUR, YOUR, YOUR FAMILIES WILL ALL BE GOING TO THE SAME SCHOOLS AND EVERYTHING LIKE THAT.
SO I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE WE'RE REALLY CLEAR ON THAT.
SO I WILL GO AHEAD AND RECESS OUR REGULAR MEETING AT 619 AND CALL TO ORDER A A PUBLIC HEARING FOR ANY COMMENT OR TESTIMONY RELATED TO OUR TWO PROPOSED MAPS.
[00:50:02]
I WILL GO AHEAD AND CLOSE THIS THIS PUBLIC HEARING AND RESUME OUR REGULAR MEETING.JASON, ANY OTHER UPDATES? YOU BET. THIS IS REALLY JUST THE FIRST OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC COMMENT ON THE WEBSITE HERE THAT WE HAVE CREATED SPECIFIC TO THIS.
FOLKS CAN ALSO PROVIDE FEEDBACK.
WE DO IT EVERY TEN YEARS, LIKE I SAID.
AND BASICALLY AS THE POPULATION GROWS, THIS HELPS KIND OF REDISTRIBUTE THE VOTING DISTRICT. SO IT'S BALANCED.
SO AND WE ALL KNOW THAT WE'VE HAD SOME SOME GROWTH IN SOME OF OUR DISTRICTS.
THE BOARD IS GOING TO BE ADOPTING A FINAL PLAN, MARCH 28.
SO IT'S ABOUT A MONTH, A MONTH AWAY.
NEXT UP, ITEM NINE A ARE SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT.
[9. REPORTS]
DOUG, GO AHEAD AND TAKE IT AWAY.THANK YOU. JOHN, I THOUGHT MAYBE YOUR FLIGHT WAS ALREADY GOING TO GO OUT, SO I DIDN'T HAVE YOU DOING THIS. SO YOU GOT.
YOU GOT YOU GOT TO BREAK THERE.
YEAH. YEAH. AGAIN, THIS HAS BEEN A QUITE A JOURNEY AND FOR OUR STUDENTS AND FAMILIES AND STAFF. AND SO OUR GOAL, AGAIN, CONTINUING ALL OUR SERVICES TO OUR STUDENTS AND OUR FAMILIES. AND I SHOWED THIS SLIDE, I BELIEVE IN THE WORKSHOP OR THE LAST BOARD MEETING.
BUT AGAIN, OUR MISSION OF SERVING STUDENTS IN PERSON HAS NOT CHANGED AND OUR PROVIDING TRANSPORTATION HAS NOT CHANGED.
AND WE'VE BEEN VERY FORTUNATE.
WE KNOW SOME SURROUNDING DISTRICTS HAD TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THEIR SCHEDULES BECAUSE OF TRANSPORTATION.
AND SO WE'VE BEEN VERY FORTUNATE.
FOOD SERVICE IS THE SAME THING.
WE WANT TO SERVE OUR STUDENTS BREAKFAST AND LUNCH.
WE CONTINUE TO DO THAT AND WE'RE WATCHING STAFF ATTENDANCE.
AND STUDENT ATTENDANCE ARE VERY IMPORTANT THINGS.
SOMEBODY, I THINK IN THE AUDIENCE SAID HOW QUICKLY THINGS ARE MOVING AND HOW RAPID THINGS ARE CHANGING.
I HAD TO CHANGE MY NEXT SLIDE, I BELIEVE, AT LIKE 130 OR 2:00 AFTER GOVERNOR INSLEE'S ANNOUNCEMENT. SO ORIGINALLY MASKING THE MANDATE WAS GOING TO BE DROPPED FOR INSIDE BUILDINGS, INCLUDING OUR SCHOOLS.
IT IS NOW MARCH 11TH AT 11:59 P.M..
SO FOR OUR PROGRAMS THAT ARE IN OUR BUILDINGS ON SATURDAY, WHETHER IT'S ROBOTICS OR SPORTS OR THINGS LIKE THAT, THAT WILL BE THE START OF THEM BEING OPTIONAL FOR MASS.
LAST TIME BUSSES WAS NOT ON THE LIST AND SO THAT IS ANOTHER CHANGE AS WELL.
WE'RE STILL WAITING FOR THE GUIDANCE FROM WASHINGTON DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH.
AND SO WE'VE BEEN TOLD WE'RE GOING TO GET IT NEXT WEEK.
I REALLY HOPE THAT WE GET IT ON THE FIRST END OF THE WEEK INSTEAD OF THE BACK END OF THE WEEK. SO WE CAN COMMUNICATE WITH OUR FAMILIES AND OUR STUDENTS AND OUR STAFF WHAT THAT'S GOING TO LOOK LIKE. AND AGAIN, WE'LL CONTINUE TO MONITOR AS WE HAVE.
AND TODAY IS JUST ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF HOW THINGS CHANGED FROM ONE WEEK TO THE NEXT.
AND SO WE'LL CONTINUE TO MONITOR AND WORK CLOSELY WITH WITH OUR STAFF, OUR STUDENTS AND OUR FAMILIES. A COMMUNICATION WENT OUT TODAY REGARDING THIS NEW INFORMATION.
AND SO, AGAIN, I'M SURE FAMILIES AND STUDENTS AND STAFF HAVE QUESTIONS AROUND WHAT THAT IS GOING TO EXACTLY LOOK LIKE, WHETHER IT'S CONTACT TRACING OR DISTANCE OR THOSE THINGS. AND WE'RE WAITING FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TO COME OUT WITH THAT.
ANY QUESTIONS FROM THE BOARD ON? THE NEW GUIDANCE THAT CAME TODAY.
HAVE YOU HAVE YOU HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT SPORTS YET OR DO WE EXPECT TO HEAR THAT ON MARCH 11TH? SPECIFICALLY WHEN YOU ASK ABOUT SPORTS.
WEAA, ARE THEY A PART OF THE DECISION MAKING AS WELL? THEY THEY ACTUALLY ARE SIMILAR TO US AS FAR AS IMPLEMENTING WHAT THE.
THEY HAVE A PLACE AT THE TABLE, THOUGH, WHEN THEY WHEN THEY MEET AND TALK ABOUT THINGS.
OKAY. I WILL IN. IS THERE ANY WE PROBABLY SINCE THIS JUST CAME OUT THIS AFTERNOON, I
[00:55:04]
HAVEN'T THOUGHT MUCH ABOUT.WE TALKED ABOUT HOW THIS WILL PLAY OUT IN SCHOOL AND IN CLASSES.
AS FAR AS IT'S OPTIONAL, THERE'LL BE SOME STUDENTS AND STAFF THAT STILL CHOOSE TO WEAR MASKS AND OTHERS CHOOSE NOT TO WEAR MASKS AND SORT OF.
ANY SORT OF TRAINING LIKE THAT.
IT'S ALL OC, RIGHT? IT'S EVERYBODY'S PERSONAL CHOICE, WHAT THEY WANT TO DO.
NOBODY IS REQUIRED TO WEAR MASKS.
AND JUST ESPECIALLY AMONG STUDENTS WE WERE TALKING ABOUT, THIS IS GOING TO BE A BIG SHIFT. A LOT OF THESE KIDS HAVE NEVER SEEN EACH OTHER FROM HERE DOWN AND AND JUST THINKING ABOUT HOW OUR STUDENTS AND STAFF WILL ADJUST TO THIS SHIFT AND HOW WE CAN HELP THEM DO THAT. YEAH, ABSOLUTELY.
THAT'S THE CONVERSATIONS THAT THAT ARE HAPPENING AND WILL HAPPEN.
AND I THINK, YOU KNOW, ONE OF THE MESSAGES THAT WE'VE BEEN PUTTING IN, DON'T ASSUME IF YOU SEE SOMEONE WITH A MASK OR SOMEONE WITHOUT A MASK, DON'T ASSUME WHY.
YOU KNOW, AGAIN, I LOOK AT MY OWN KIDS PERSONALLY OUT OF OUT OF MY WIFE'S THREE KIDS. OUR KIDS WILL HAVE ONE THAT STILL MASKS AND WE'LL PROBABLY HAVE TWO OF THE.
DON'T THEY COME FROM THE SAME FAMILY? SO YEAH, THERE DOES NEED TO BE DISCUSSIONS.
YEP. AND I'M GOING TO HAVE LISA COME ON UP.
AND, LISA, I'LL GIVE YOU THE CLICKER.
I HAVE A PRINCIPAL, AMY HOLMES, WITH ME AS WELL.
CELEBRATION. AND IT'S IT HAS TO DO WITH AN OPPORTUNITY THAT THE STATE BEGAN TO OFFER A NUMBER OF YEARS AGO, AND THAT FOR THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS, WE'VE COME TO YOU TO SHARE WITH YOU THE SUCCESS OF OUR STUDENTS.
SO OCI, THE OFFICE OF SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION, OFFERS A PROGRAM CALLED WORLD LANGUAGE COMPETENCY TESTING AND FROM THEIR WEBSITE.
THIS IS WHAT THEIR GOAL IS TO DEVELOP A SYSTEM THAT SUPPORTS ANY BILINGUAL STUDENT TO RECEIVE WORLD LANGUAGE CREDITS.
BY DEMONSTRATING LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY.
IN ORDER TO INCREASE STUDENT ACCESS, OSP HAS ESTABLISHED A PROCESS TO EMPOWER AND ENGAGE SCHOOL DISTRICTS TO SET UP COMPETENCY TESTING FOR THEIR BILINGUAL STUDENTS AND SUPPORT THIRD PARTY AGENCIES AND TO OFFER TESTING IN THEIR COMMUNITIES.
SO WE LIKE TO OFFER THE TEST TWICE A YEAR, BUT WE'VE BEEN DOING IT ONCE A YEAR JUST BECAUSE OF THE TIMES.
AND WE USE TWO PROGRAMS, ALTA AND AVANTE, AND THEY ONE OF THEM JUST DOES MORE OF THE SPEAKING AND THE WRITING FOR SOME OF THE LANGUAGES THAT ARE HARDER TO TEST VIA COMPUTER. AND THE OTHER TEST IS COMPLETELY ON THE COMPUTER.
THERE ARE SO MANY BENEFITS TO THIS PROGRAM.
FIRST OF ALL, IT REALLY RECOGNIZES STUDENTS WHO ARE MULTILINGUAL, WHO COME TO US ALREADY WITH A HERITAGE LANGUAGE, WHO CONTINUE THEIR LEARNING IN THAT LANGUAGE, AS WELL AS IN ENGLISH AND OTHER LANGUAGES AS WELL.
ALSO, STUDENTS WHO MEET THEIR WORLD LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT THROUGH COMPETENCY TESTING CAN THEN EITHER LEARN ANOTHER WORLD LANGUAGE.
WE HAVE STUDENTS WHO ARE COMPETENT IN ONE LANGUAGE AND WANT TO START ON ANOTHER ONE IMMEDIATELY, AND ALSO THAT FOR OTHER STUDENTS IT MAY FREE UP THEIR SCHEDULES TO BE ABLE TO TAKE OTHER COURSES THAT ARE OF INTEREST TO THEM.
STUDENTS CAN ALSO EARN A SEAL OF BI LITERACY THAT IS INCLUDED ON THEIR DIPLOMA AND THEIR TRANSCRIPTS. AND WE'LL TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHAT THAT SEAL OF BY LITERACY IS.
THE BOX AT THE BOTTOM REMINDS US ALL THAT THERE IS A TWO CREDIT REQUIREMENT FOR WORLD LANGUAGE. IF THAT'S IN THE STUDENT'S SELECTED PATHWAY TO CREDITS OF WORLD LANGUAGE, IN THE SAME LANGUAGE ARE STILL REQUIRED AS A AN ENTRY INTO FOUR YEAR UNIVERSITY. SO CELEBRATING OUR LEARNERS.
WE HAD 40 STUDENTS TEST JUST LAST MONTH AND BETWEEN THEM THEY EARNED 129 CREDITS OF WORLD LANGUAGE.
STUDENTS CAN EARN BETWEEN ONE AND FOUR LANGUAGE EXCUSE ME, FOUR CREDITS DEPENDING ON THE SCORES ACROSS EACH OF THE FOUR DIMENSIONS OF LANGUAGE LISTENING, SPEAKING, WRITING AND READING.
YOU'LL ALSO NOTICE THERE THAT THE ARRAY OF STUDENTS AND THE NUMBER OF CREDITS THAT THEY EARN. SO ONE STUDENT EARNED TWO CREDITS.
[01:00:02]
MOST OF OUR STUDENTS EARNED THREE OR FOUR CREDITS.AND THEN YOU SEE THE EARNED CREDITS BY LANGUAGE.
SO TOPPING THE CHARTS, WE HAVE 33 AT CHINESE, 27 AT SPANISH, 20 FOR RUSSIAN.
AND THEN IN ADDITION, WE HAD STUDENTS EARN CREDITS FOR FILIPINO, JAPANESE, TAMIL, HINDI, ITALIAN, ROMANIAN, SWAHILI, TELUGU, UKRAINIAN AND TIBETAN.
AND I JUST WANT TO ADD HOW AWESOME IT IS TO SIT THERE AND LISTEN.
THEY PUT HEADPHONES ON AND THEY CAN'T HEAR EACH OTHER, BUT WE CAN HEAR THEM.
AND JUST THE BEAUTY OF ALL THE LANGUAGE THAT YOU'RE HEARING IN THE CLASSROOM IS PRETTY AMAZING. AND JUST THAT OPPORTUNITY, AGAIN, TO GET SOMETHING OFF OF THEIR PLATE.
SO IT'S NOT A STRESS ANYMORE TO WORRY ABOUT THOSE CREDITS.
THEY CAN JUST BE DONE WITH THAT AND MOVE FORWARD WITH OTHER PIECES OF THEIR EDUCATION.
AVERAGE TAKES ABOUT TWO AND A HALF HOURS.
WE HAD SOME STUDENTS FINISH IN ABOUT THAT TIME.
WE HAD ONE STUDENT THIS YEAR WHO TOOK ABOUT 8 HOURS OVER TWO DAYS TO FINISH.
WHAT WHAT WAS INTERESTING FOR ME IS THAT I GOT TO WALK STUDENTS OUT AS THEY WERE FINISHING ONE BY ONE AND JUST ASK THEM HOW IT WENT, WHAT THEY THOUGHT ABOUT IT, HOW THEY DID. AND I HAD ONE STUDENT WHO SAID, CAN I TAKE THE TEST AGAIN? AND I SAID, OF COURSE.
DO YOU FEEL LIKE YOU WILL NEED TO? AND HE SAID, OH, I THINK I DID FINE ON THIS ONE.
I'M READY TO TEST IN MY NEXT LANGUAGE.
SO JUST SOME GREAT STORIES AND JUST HEARING THE KIDS AND ALSO JUST THE PRIDE OF PARENTS AS THEY'RE DROPPING KIDS OFF IN THE LOBBY AND JUST SEEING HOW MULTICULTURAL WE ARE AND HOW MANY FAMILIES WE SERVE.
WE'RE MONITORING STUDENTS WHO RECEIVED CREDITS TO DETERMINE WHO WILL ALSO ACHIEVE THE SEAL OF BY LITERACY.
SO YOU SEE AT THE BOTTOM THE SEAL, AND IT'S AWARDED TO STUDENTS WHO MEET THE COMPETENCY ON THE TEST. BUT IN ADDITION, THEY MEET THE REQUIREMENTS FOR FOUR CREDITS OF ELA ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS IN THEIR HIGH SCHOOL YEARS, AND ALSO THEY DEMONSTRATE PROFICIENCY ON AN ELA GRADUATION PATHWAY.
SO ONE EXAMPLE IS THE ELA SMARTER BALANCED STATE ASSESSMENT, BUT THERE ARE MANY WAYS TO MEET THAT REQUIREMENT AS WELL.
THEN ALSO THE FOUR CREDITS THROUGH WORLD LANGUAGE COMPETENCY TESTING AND THEN WE'RE CONTINUING TO LEARN ABOUT AND CELEBRATE OUR MULTILINGUAL STUDENTS.
THERE ARE SOME FAMILIES WHO COME TO US IN SOME STUDENTS WHO FEEL AS IF THAT LANGUAGE ISN'T VALUED.
AND WE WANT EVERY STUDENT, WHETHER THEY SPEAK ENGLISH AND THEN ARE LEARNING A SECOND LANGUAGE OR COME TO US SPEAKING A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE, LEARNING ENGLISH TO RECOGNIZE THAT WE CELEBRATE EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM.
ALONG WITH THAT, THE NEXT STEPS FOR THOSE OF US THAT WORK DIRECTLY WITH THE STUDENTS IS TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE RECOGNIZING THOSE STUDENTS WHO COULD EARN THESE CREDITS BEFORE.
IT IS A NEED SO THAT WE HAVE THAT BALANCED OPPORTUNITY FOR THEM TO BE ABLE TO GET THAT OUT OF THE WAY AT THE SAME TIME.
AND WE KNOW THAT WE NEED TO REACH IN A LITTLE BIT FARTHER TO SEVERAL OF OUR COMMUNITIES WHO FIND OUT AGAIN WHEN THEY ARE A JUNIOR OR SENIOR BECAUSE THEY NEED MORE CREDITS OR THEY WANT TO DO THEIR WORLD LANGUAGE THAT WAY INSTEAD OF HAVING THEM TAKE CARE OF THAT IN MIDDLE SCHOOL.
THANK YOU. AND ANY QUESTIONS? WE CAN ANSWER A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS.
BUT FIRST WAS GOING TO BE, DO WE OFFER THIS TO MIDDLE SCHOOLERS? AND SECONDLY, ARE WE CHARGING OUR FAMILIES FOR THIS TEST OR ARE WE PICKING UP THE TAB ON THAT YET? SO MIDDLE SCHOOL KIDS JUST DO WE ADVERTISE AND THE KIDS COME TO US OR DO WE PULL DATA AND REACH OUT TO KIDS? AND DO WE DO WE TARGET MIDDLE SCHOOL KIDS SO THAT IT IMPACTS WHETHER THEY TAKE A WORLD LANGUAGE IN HIGH SCHOOL OR NOT? SO IT'S A BOTH.
AND WE CAN OFFER THE TEST TO STUDENTS IN GRADE SEVEN AND ABOVE.
AND WE GIVE PRIORITY RIGHT NOW TO STUDENTS WHO ARE IN HIGH SCHOOL AS THEY'RE MEETING THEIR CREDIT REQUIREMENTS THERE.
THIS TESTING ROUND, WE HAD EIGHTH GRADERS AND THEN ALL THE WAY THROUGH 11TH.
YES. STUDENTS ARE FAMILIES ARE PAYING FOR THE ASSESSMENT ITSELF.
WE'VE REDUCED THE PRICE OF THAT AND WE HAVE EVERY SUPPORT IN PLACE SO THAT WHERE WE HAVE FAMILIES WHO NEED ADDITIONAL FINANCIAL SUPPORT, WE HAVE THAT FOR THEM.
OUR REACH OUT INCLUDES WORKING WITH OUR ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNER TEACHER TEAM TO HELP IDENTIFY STUDENTS WHO ARE WHO THEY'RE SERVING AND HAVE THAT THAT READINESS TO BE ABLE TO TO TO TRY TO TEST AND TO REALLY OFFER THEM ENCOURAGEMENT.
BECAUSE MANY TIMES THAT'S THE THING THAT THEY NEED MOST IS THE ENCOURAGEMENT THAT THAT
[01:05:04]
THEY'RE READY AND THAT THIS IS AVAILABLE.WE ALSO SEND OUT THE ANNOUNCEMENTS TO ALL COUNSELORS, ALL PRINCIPALS, SO THAT WE'RE ALL SCANNING FOR WHAT FAMILIES CAN WE REALLY UNDERSTAND.
AND AS AMY SAID, WE HAVE MORE TO DO THERE.
WE HAVE MORE THAT WE NEED TO DO TO IDENTIFY FAMILIES WHO ARE COMING TO US WITH ANOTHER LANGUAGE AS AN ASSET.
CAN I JUST SAY REALLY QUICK, LIKE ALL THE SNAPS IN THE KLOPP'S IN THE WORLD FOR CELEBRATING THESE LEARNERS? MAYBE IN THE FUTURE WE CAN TALK ABOUT COSTS BECAUSE, YOU KNOW, WE DON'T WANT BARRIERS.
RIGHT. AND WE ALSO WANT ACCESS.
AND TO BE ABLE TO TALK TO SEVENTH AND EIGHTH GRADERS WHO FAMILIES ARE PLANNING THAT FOUR YEAR PLAN AHEAD IS SO VALUABLE.
THANK YOU TO OUR STATE WHO RECOGNIZES THIS NOW AND ALLOWS US TO HAPPEN ABOUT TIME.
SO THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR WORK.
ANYTHING ELSE? ANYTHING ELSE IN THE SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT? THAT'S IT. THANK YOU.
NEXT ITEM NINE BE OUR MONTHLY BUDGET REPORT WITH JASON.
SO FOR THE MONTHLY BUDGET REPORT, JUST WANTED TO GIVE YOU AN UPDATE ON THIS PAST MONTH OF JANUARY.
THANK YOU, GAIL. APPRECIATE IT.
I'D BE LOST WITHOUT YOU UP HERE.
SO IN THE MONTH OF JANUARY, AS WE TALKED ABOUT BEFORE, OUR REVENUES WOULD START TO BE ADJUSTED. THERE'S AN ANNUAL TRUE UP THAT HAPPENS IN THE STATE OF WASHINGTON WITH APPORTIONMENT AND IT HAPPENS IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE FISCAL YEAR.
SO WE'RE GOING TO WE'RE GOING TO START TO SEE THAT IN THE MONTH OF JANUARY AND AND THE REMAINING MONTHS WHERE THE KIND OF TRUE UP OUR OUR STATE FUNDING TO ACTUAL ENROLLMENT.
AND THEN, AS I MENTIONED BEFORE, EXPENDITURES STILL ARE TRENDING BELOW BUDGET AS THEY HAVE IN PREVIOUS MONTHS.
THE REST OF THE FUND'S PRETTY BUSINESSES.
NORMAL JANUARY IS A PRETTY QUIET MONTH.
WE DON'T HAVE DEBT PAYMENTS OR.
TAX COLLECTIONS OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT.
THIS IS THE LATEST PROJECTION FOR THE END OF THIS FISCAL YEAR WE'RE LOOKING AT.
LOOKING AT A DEFICIT ROUGHLY OF ABOUT 3.2 MILLION.
THAT'S IMPROVED FROM WHEN WE INITIALLY BUDGETED.
AND THAT'S JUST WE'VE KIND OF CURTAILED SOME EXPENDITURES.
AND I THINK WE'LL CONTINUE TO MONITOR THIS BECAUSE WHAT WILL HAPPEN AS THE LEGISLATURE WRAPS UP HERE MARCH 10TH, THERE COULD BE SOME CHANGES THERE THAT THAT COULD BE IMPLEMENTED THIS YEAR THAT COULD CHANGE THIS PICTURE.
BUT ABSENT THAT, THIS IS KIND OF WHAT WE'RE LOOKING AT FOR THE YEAR.
I'VE ALSO KIND OF DESCRIBED WHAT SORT OF CHANGES FROM ONE MONTH TO THE NEXT, AND IT'S IMPROVED. AS I MENTIONED EARLIER, IT'S KIND OF A NET OF MULTIPLE FACTORS.
REVENUES TEND TO EITHER TREND UP OR DOWN, SAME WITH EXPENDITURES, BUT KIND OF THE CORE YOU'D ASK THIS QUESTION BEFORE I THOUGHT, WELL, I WOULD ADD A SLIDE DECK TO THAT.
IT KIND OF GIVES SOME PERSPECTIVE FROM ONE MONTH TO THE NEXT, SOME THINGS CAN CAN CHANGE. SO AND THAT'S THIS IS WE'VE BEEN GETTING QUESTIONS AGAIN AROUND FEDERAL COVID RELIEF FUNDING AND THE TIMING OF SOME OF THIS MONEY.
AND WHEN IT COMES IN, THIS IS FOR THIS PARTICULAR YEAR, WE'VE WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO GET A COUPLE OF GRANTS THAT HAVE HELPED A LITTLE OVER A HALF MILLION DOLLARS.
SO THAT'S GOOD. THAT'S COME IN THE FORM OF THIS LEARN TO RETURN AND EXCUSE ME ALI SUMMER SCHOOL OUR NEW PRINCIPAL HOLD THAT WAS SUCCESSFUL IN GETTING THAT GRANT SO PRETTY PRETTY COOL SO BASICALLY LEARN TO RETURN HELPS US OFFSET SOME OF THOSE TESTING COSTS OF SOME OF THE SOME OF THE COVID TESTING AND OTHER MEASURES THAT WE HAD TO TAKE THE AILEY SUMMER SCHOOL THAT'S GOING TO HELP OFFSET SOME OF THESE COSTS THAT WILL WE INTEND TO
[01:10:03]
INCUR FOR SUMMER SCHOOL.SO THAT'S A GOOD FINANCIAL NEWS.
THE OTHER. ESSER WE'VE TALKED ABOUT IT AD NAUSEUM, SO.
ANY QUESTIONS FROM THE BOARD? I DON'T HAVE A QUESTION, JUST A COUPLE OF COMMENTS.
I LIKE THAT YOU ADDED THAT SLIDE NUMBER FIVE THAT KIND OF SHOWED WHERE WE WERE IN DECEMBER AND THEN THE PROJECTION OF JANUARY.
SO THAT'S HELPFUL FOR ME TO HAVE THAT IN THERE.
ALSO, I KNOW THAT WE'RE STILL LOOKING AT A DEFICIT, BUT WE'RE JUST A COMMENT THAT OUR FUND BALANCE IS STILL GOING TO BE AT 14.5%.
AND I KNOW THE BUDGET COMMITTEE HAS WORKED TO KEEP IT AT 8 TO 10%.
SO WE'RE STILL ABOVE THAT 8 TO 10% THAT WE HAVE SET AS OUR GOAL OF WHAT WE WANT IT TO BE. AND I THINK I'M ON DECK FOR THE BUDGET COMMITTEE NEXT MONTH, SO I KNOW WE ROTATE WHO GOES ON THAT ONE. SO I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING THAT NEXT MONTH.
SO WE HAVE A FUN BALANCE, BUT WE ALSO I GUESS IT'S OUR FIVE YEAR PROJECTION THAT WE DO SO THAT WE KNOW.
YOU KNOW, AS OUR BUDGET IS SHRINKING AND WE COME FURTHER IN LINE TO THE PROTOTYPICAL SCHOOL MODEL, WHAT THAT'S GOING TO LOOK LIKE FOR US, WE NEED TO PULL THIS CLOSER, WHAT THAT'S SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE FOR US.
AND SO I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO.
REVIEWING THAT. I DON'T KNOW IF THAT'S GOING TO BE IN THE BUDGET COMMITTEE AND THEN COME TO US, BUT JUST.
I KNOW BEFORE COVID HIT, WE WERE LOOKING AT HOW WE COME IN LINE WITH THE BUDGET, WHAT SHRINKAGE WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO COME IN LINE WITH WHAT OUR FUNDING WAS GOING TO BE.
AND THEN COVID HIT AND EVERYTHING'S ALL OVER THE PLACE.
BUT. BUT I'M INTERESTED TO SEE THAT BECAUSE IT HAS HUGE IMPACTS ON WHAT WE DO WITH THAT GENERAL FUND AND HOW WE MEET IT OUT OVER THE FUTURE.
YEAH, I WOULD I WOULD EXPECT, YOU KNOW, THE NEXT YEAR'S BUDGET WILL WILL ENTAIL SOME SORT OF DEFICIT FIGURE THAT WILL LEVERAGE SOME OF THAT FUND BALANCE THAT WE HAVE AVAILABLE.
TO THE DEGREE AT WHICH IT WILL.
THAT'S PART OF THAT EXERCISE OF PROJECTING OUT FOR YEARS AND TRYING TO SEE HOW WE CAN FEATHER OUT THOSE THOSE FUNDS.
AND IT'S IT IS DIFFICULT BECAUSE WE WERE JUST WE HADN'T EVEN REALLY REACHED OUR NEW NORMAL WITH THE MCCLEARY FUNDING MODEL CHANGES.
AND SO THERE'S BEEN A LOT OF DIFFERENT SWINGS AS A RESULT OF THESE THINGS IN THE REVENUE AND EXPENDITURE SIDE.
AND SO I THINK WE'RE GOING TO START TO SETTLE INTO OUR NEW NORMAL AND START TO KIND OF FIGURE THAT PIECE OUT.
AND, AND, AND THIS WILL BE HOPEFULLY THE FIRST YEAR THAT WE CAN KIND OF LOOK OUT FOUR YEARS AND START TO PLAN AROUND THAT.
PIECES THAT I WANT TO UNDERSTAND BETTER IS.
WHAT ARE THE SOURCES GOING INTO OUR FUND BALANCE? I KNOW THAT HAS DRASTICALLY REDUCED.
AND SO AS WE SPEND IT, WE NEED TO KNOW IT WON'T REPLENISH US AS FAST AS IT HAS IN THE PAST. AND SO.
YOU KNOW, LIKE THOSE WORD PROBLEMS THAT I HATED THAT IF IF SOMETHING IS KIND OF WATER IS COMING IN THE BATHTUB AT THIS RATE AND DRAINS AT THAT RATE, HOW LONG TILL IT'S FULL OR WHATEVER? EMPTY.
BUT JUST KIND OF UNDERSTANDING THAT FLOW AND HOW THAT PLAYS INTO OUR PLANNING, THE REALLY IMPORTANT. I APPRECIATE THAT.
AND I THINK IN THE COMING, YOU KNOW, BOARD MEETINGS AND POTENTIALLY WORKSHOPS, WE'LL BE ABLE TO ENGAGE IN THAT DISCUSSION LIKE WE DO EVERY YEAR AROUND THE BUDGET.
AGAIN, THIS IS PRETTY THIS IS STILL EARLY ON.
YOU KNOW, WE DON'T PASS THE BUDGET OR ADOPT THE BUDGET UNTIL AUGUST, BUT THERE'S A LOT OF MOVING PIECES. AND I WANT TO MAKE SURE AND BRING BRING YOU ALONG AS A SCHOOL BOARD ALONG THE JOURNEY AS WE WE DEVELOPED THE BUDGET THIS YEAR.
I APPRECIATE THE FEEDBACK. I ALSO ADD TO WHETHER I'M ADDRESSING YOU OR CONNIE, I'M NOT SURE THIS WAS SOMETHING THAT IS ON THE TOPIC OF OUR SUPERINTENDENT BUDGET COMMITTEE.
AND SO THAT WAS ONE OF THE EXERCISES THAT WE'VE BEEN GOING THROUGH.
SO I THINK THAT AS THEY DEVELOP THEIR THEIR RECOMMENDATIONS, THAT WILL HELP AS WELL.
ALSO, WITH THE LEGISLATIVE SESSION ENDING, YOU SAY MARCH 10TH, IS THAT THE DATE? SO WE SHOULD HAVE A LOT BETTER IDEA AT THAT POINT, TOO, FOR ANY OTHER ANY OTHER ADDITIONAL FUNDING. SO IT'S A IT'S NEVER TOO EARLY TO START TALKING ABOUT BUDGET AT ALL, BUT WE'LL DEFINITELY HAVE A LOT BETTER OF AN IDEA PROBABLY AT THE NEXT BOARD MEETING.
IT'S NEVER TOO EARLY TO TALK ABOUT BUDGET.
I FEEL LIKE I SHOULD EMBROIDER THAT ON A PILLOW FOR YOUR OFFICE.
[10. POLICY REVIEW]
[01:15:01]
NEXT ON THE AGENDA, ITEM NUMBER TEN POLICY REVIEW.IT'S BEEN A WHILE SINCE WE'VE WE'VE BROUGHT A SLATE OF UPDATED POLICIES TO THE BOARD.
CONNIE AND I MET WITH WITH DOUG AND WITH GAIL TO REVIEW THE RECOMMENDED POLICY CHANGES FROM STAFF AND PRESENTED THOSE TO YOU AND YOUR YOUR BOARD PACKET EARLIER THIS WEEK.
AND JUST LOOKING FOR APPROVAL OF THESE UPDATED POLICIES OR IF ANYBODY HAD ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS ABOUT ANY OF THEM OR CONNIE, IF YOU HAD ANYTHING ELSE TO ADD.
OKAY. WE CAN GO THROUGH. WE CAN GO THROUGH ONE BY ONE.
OR IF SOMEBODY WANTS TO MAKE A MOTION, WE CAN WE CAN APPROVE THE WHOLE SLATE.
JUST DOING THEM ALL. I JUST WANTED TO THANK YOU GUYS BECAUSE I KNOW YOU GUYS HAVE ON THE POLICY COMMITTEE FOR A LONG TIME, SO I DON'T KNOW WHEN IT'S TIME TO ROTATE OFF OF THAT, BUT I KNOW IT'S A LOT OF WORK GOING THROUGH ALL OF THOSE AND I KNOW SOME OF THESE ARE NEW ONES THAT WE HAVEN'T HAD BEFORE.
AND THE WORK YOU GUYS HAVE DONE, UNLESS YOU GUYS HAVE ANY CONCERNS ON ANY OF THEM, WE WOULDN'T BE PRESENTING THEM.
THEN I WOULD MAKE A MOTION TO APPROVE THE POLICIES, IF THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR AS PRESENTED. AND I WILL SECOND THAT.
SO THE MOTION WAS MADE BY TRACEY AND SECONDED BY ERIKA.
NEXT, WE'RE GOING TO MOVE ON TO ITEM NUMBER 11.
QUALITY FACILITIES AND RESOURCES.
WE HAVE A COUPLE OF CONTRACTS IN AGREEMENT.
CAN I CAN I ASK A QUESTION? DID WE DID WE USE THE ODELL CLAUSE? DID WE MOVE THOSE TO SECOND READING OR DID WE MOVE IT TO SECOND READING AND VOTE ON THE FINAL? I'M NOT SURE OUR MOTION WAS CLARIFIED.
I'M SORRY. YEAH, THAT IS CORRECT.
I CAN CLARIFY THAT. CAN YOU FEEL WE CAN WE CAN TAKE A READ.
WOULD YOU LIKE FIRST AND SECOND READING? FIRST AND SECOND READING, YES.
OKAY. I'LL TELL YOU WHAT, JUST TO MAKE SURE, CAN WE GO AHEAD AND REVOTE ON THAT JUST FOR FIRST AND SECOND READING FOR THE POLICIES AS PRESENTED? THANK YOU. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR.
[11. QUALITY FACILITIES AND RESOURCES]
NUMBER 1111 A I'M SORRY.FOLKS UP HERE FOR THE IS IT 000 CONTRACT RENEWAL? THIS IS OUR FIVE YEAR CONTRACT FOR DARK FIBER NETWORK THAT CONNECTS THE BUILDINGS TOGETHER AND ALLOWS THE BUILDINGS TO COMMUNICATE WITH EACH OTHER.
SO YOU HAVE THE INFORMATION IN FRONT OF YOU.
ANY QUESTIONS? NO. I ASSUME THIS IS JUST A ROLLING FIVE YEAR RENEWAL.
YES. YES. FIVE YEARS WE EVALUATE IT.
IT'S JUST IT'S A RENEWAL HERE.
SO IT'S EXTENDING OUR FIVE YEAR AGREEMENT AND.
SO ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? OTHERWISE, I'D ENTERTAIN A MOTION.
I MOVE TO APPROVE THE EXTENDED CURRENT YEAR FIVE YEAR AGREEMENT WITH ZALE ZALE.
I'LL SECOND THAT. IT WAS MOVED BY ERIKA, SECONDED BY TRACEY.
ALL THOSE IN FAVOR IN YOUR POST.
ALL RIGHT. MOTION CARRIES THEIR NUMBER OR LETTER B 11 B R KEY TO DEVICE REIMBURSEMENT.
SO THIS IS FUNDED OUT OF OUR OUR TECHNOLOGY LEVY.
YOU HAVE THE INFORMATION IN FRONT OF YOU.
ANY QUESTIONS? I JUST WANT TO COMMENT, IS THIS SHERMAN AGAIN, TECHNOLOGY? I JUST WANT TO COMMENT THAT WE'RE GETTING $80,000 BACK IN REIMBURSEMENT.
SO THE TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT ALWAYS DOES A GREAT JOB MANAGING OUR FUNDS AND OUR MONEY.
SO. JUST WANTED TO STATE THAT IT'S EDDIE AS WELL.
THERE WE GO. SO SHOUT OUT TO THEM.
AND WITH THAT, IF THERE'S NOTHING ELSE, I'LL MAKE A MOTION TO APPROVE.
AS PRESENTED THE K2 DEVICE REIMBURSEMENTS.
I'LL SECOND THAT. SO IT WAS MOVED BY TRACY AND SECONDED BY CONNIE.
ALL THOSE IN FAVOR. HE OPPOSED.
ALL RIGHT. MOTION CARRIES THEIR.
LAST ITEM ON 11 C A WASHOUGAL CAMAS SCHOOL DISTRICT ACA DISTRICT WIDE TRAINING AGREEMENT. THIS IS ENTERING INTO OR SHARING THE COST BETWEEN CAMAS AND WASHOUGAL SCHOOL DISTRICTS FOR SOME SCHOOL COUNSELOR TRAINING.
[01:20:03]
ANY QUESTIONS ON THIS OR COMMENTS? NO, I JUST LOVE THAT WE ARE WORKING TOGETHER TO PRESENT THIS PARTNERSHIP WITH OUR WASHOUGAL SCHOOL DISTRICT FRIENDS.AND SO I MAKE A MOTION TO APPROVE AS PRESENTED.
