[1. REGULAR MEETING CALL TO ORDER - 5:30 PM]

[00:00:05]

GOOD EVENING, EVERYBODY, AND WELCOME TO OUR NOVEMBER 28TH BOARD MEETING.

WE ARE GOING TO GET STARTED HERE WITH THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE LED BY TRACEY MALONE.

NEXT, CONNIE HENNESSEY WILL DO OUR LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT.

THANK YOU. I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE GEOGRAPHICAL REGION OF CAMAS IS LOCATED ON THE ANCESTRAL AND TERRITORIAL LANDS OF THE CHINOOK AND COWLITZ PEOPLE, AND THAT THE CHINOOK ARE STILL FIGHTING TO BE FEDERALLY RECOGNIZED TRIBE ON THEIR OWN LAND.

THANKS, CONNIE. ALL RIGHT.

ITEM NUMBER 2A ON OUR AGENDA IS THE MILLTOWN PRIDE AWARD.

[2. MILL TOWN PRIDE AWARD(S)]

DR. ANZALONE, I'LL TURN IT OVER TO YOU.

GOOD EVENING, EVERYONE.

AND I HOPE EVERYONE HAD A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING.

WE WANTED TO START OFF THE EVENING WITH OUR MILLTOWN PRIDE AWARD.

AND TONIGHT WE HAVE A WONDERFUL EDUCATOR FROM HAYES FREEDOM HIGH SCHOOL HERE TO ACCEPT HIS AWARD IS SOMEBODY HERE THAT WOULD LIKE TO SPEAK ON JAMES'S BEHALF.

COME ON UP.

I'M GINA HINES.

I'M ONE OF JAMES'S COWORKERS, AND I HAVE TO APOLOGIZE.

I ACTUALLY FORGOT MY GLASSES, SO I THINK I'M GOING TO HAVE TO WING A LOT OF THIS.

JAMES STARTED AT HIS FREEDOM IN SEPTEMBER OF 2020, AND I THINK WE PROBABLY ALL BLOCKED IT FROM OUR MEMORY.

BUT THAT WAS SMACK IN THE MIDDLE OF COVID.

AND SO AS CHALLENGING ANYWAYS, AND HE IS A MUSIC TEACHER, SO THAT WAS FUN TEACHING MUSIC TO HIGH SCHOOLERS OVER ZOOM AND THEN IN HYBRID AND THEN IN PERSON AND IN PERSON.

HE FOUND THAT WE DIDN'T HAVE A COMPLETE SET OF ANY ONE INSTRUMENT IN OUR SCHOOLS.

AND SO JAMES TOOK THE CHALLENGE OF TRYING TO INCREASE AND BUILD OUR MUSIC PROGRAM.

THE FIRST THING HE DID WAS BUILD OUR APPLY FOR A CF GRANT, AND HE GOT TO SEE IF GRANT FOR $1,000 FOR FIVE MIDI KEYBOARDS AND HEADPHONES TO USE WITH OUR IPADS FOR MUSIC PRODUCTION, BUT DIDN'T ACTUALLY STOP THERE.

HE ACTUALLY WAS INTERESTED IN BUILDING A GUITAR PROGRAM AT OUR SCHOOL, SO HE DECIDED LAST SUMMER TO REINFORCE HIS GUITAR TEACHING SKILLS AND TOOK A CLASS DURING THE SUMMER AND THEN AGAIN TRYING TO START OUR GUITAR PROGRAM.

HE DECIDED TO USE DONORS CHOOSE AND FRIENDS AND FAMILY AND MATCHING GRANTS FOR DONORS CHOOSE MANAGED TO RAISE $3,400 TO BUY.

SORRY AGAIN. DIDN'T GET THE GLASSES.

TEN CORDOBA SEE THREE CLASSICAL GUITARS.

AND THOSE WERE PURCHASED RIGHT BEFORE SCHOOL STARTED.

AND SO WE WERE ABLE TO START THE YEAR WITH AN ACTUAL DEDICATED GUITAR CLASS, AND IT WAS SO POPULAR WE NEEDED MORE GUITARS.

SO IT'S REALLY COOL. AND JAMES IS VERY FORWARD THINKING.

AND SO THE SECOND PART OF HIS PLAN WAS HE APPLIED FOR A GRANT FROM THE GUITAR CENTER MUSIC FOUNDATION, AND THIS MONTH HE RECEIVED AN ADDITIONAL AWARD FOR $3,000 TOWARDS THE PURCHASE OF MORE MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS.

AND SO WE ARE GOING TO HOPEFULLY IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS, PURCHASE MORE GUITARS AND HOPEFULLY WE'LL HAVE MONEY LEFT OVER FOR UKULELES.

SO ALSO ADDITIONAL UKULELES.

AND IT'S AWESOME BECAUSE HE'S AN AMAZING ASSET TO HAYES AND I THINK ALL STUDENTS IN GENERAL AND THE COMMUNITY BECAUSE HE GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND AND HE HAS CREATED THIS GREAT PROGRAM AND HE'S VERY FORWARD THINKING AND THE GUITARS, THE UKULELES.

AND THE BEST PART IS THE FACT THAT THE STUDENTS ARE SO EXCITED.

YOU CAN HEAR THEM TALK ABOUT IT.

THE KIDS WANT TO GET INTO HIS CLASSES AND YOU HAVE THE FACT THAT YOU HAVE STUDENTS WHO NEVER SAW THEMSELVES AS MUSICIANS ARE NOW CREATING MUSIC.

AND I THINK THAT'S A VERY COOL PART, AND THAT'S WHY WE NOMINATED HIM FOR OUR MILTON PRIDE AWARD.

NOW I TURN IT TO JAMES. AND THEN TO THE BOARD, IF I CAN JUST ADD, I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SUBSTITUTE IN JAMES'S CLASS A FEW WEEKS BACK, AND WHEN I ASKED THE STUDENTS WHAT THEY WERE WORKING ON, THEY WERE WORKING ON A PROJECT AND THAT THE STUDENTS REALLY IMPRESSED UPON ME THAT YOU HAD LIFTED A LOT OF THE GUIDELINES AND RESTRICTIONS TO PROVIDE THEM A CREATIVITY AND REALLY A CLEAN PALETTE TO WORK WITH.

AND I THINK PROVIDING STUDENTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO JUST BE ARTISTIC AND BE THEMSELVES AND PUT ALL OF THEM SELVES IN THOSE PROJECTS IS CRITICAL.

SO IT REALLY EVEN JUST A COUPLE OF HOURS I WAS THERE EXUDED TO ME.

SO THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU DO AND YOU GUYS DO SUCH WONDERFUL THINGS THAT HEY, SO THANK YOU SO MUCH.

[00:05:02]

JAMES THANK YOU. I JUST WANT TO ADD THAT I FEEL LIKE ALL I'VE REALLY DONE IS ADOPT THE SCHOOL CULTURE OF HAYES, AND THAT IS TO FIND THE RESOURCES THAT WE NEED TO TAKE CARE OF OUR KIDS.

AND WHEN WE FIND THOSE RESOURCES, WE GO ALL IN, DON'T HOLD IT BACK.

AND THAT'S KIND OF WHAT WE DO.

SO THANKS ON BEHALF OF OUR WHOLE.

THANK YOU.

LET ME.

ALL RIGHT. WAY TO GET THE MEETING STARTED.

THANK YOU, JAMES, VERY MUCH FOR ALL THAT YOU DO THERE, FOR BEING CREATIVE AND AND PROVIDING THAT FOR OUR STUDENTS, THAT'S FANTASTIC.

ALL RIGHT, ITEM THREE A ON OUR AGENDA.

[3. STUDENT/COMMITTEE REPORTS]

WE HAVE A COUPLE OF REPORTS WE'RE GOING TO DO.

FIRST ONE IS OUR LIBERTY MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENT REPORT.

I BELIEVE WE HAVE PEARSON ILAM HERE.

COME ON UP AND TELL US ALL ABOUT LIBERTY.

LIBERTY'S THEME FOR THE YEAR IS BE THE DIFFERENCE.

ONE WAY OUR LIBERTY ASB LEADERS WORK TO BE THE DIFFERENCE AT LIBERTY.

THESE PAST FEW WEEKS HAS BEEN FUNDRAISERS.

WE CONDUCTED OUR STOCKTOBER FUNDRAISER.

WITH THE CAMAS TRANSPORT TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT AND HAD OVER 700 ITEMS DONATED.

INCLUDING SOCKS, DIAPERS, UNDERWEAR AND USED CLOTHING.

THE DONATION CENTER WAS SO GRATEFUL AND THANKFUL FOR OUR DONATION.

THEY WERE IN TEARS. THE OTHER FUNDRAISER WE CONDUCTED WAS OUR POPULAR FUNDRAISER.

THIS FUNDRAISER REPORTEDLY BROUGHT IN 15,000 IN SALES.

HALF OF WHICH WAS WHICH COMES BACK TO LIBERTY'S ASB TO HELP FUND SCHOOLS, SPORTS CLUBS AND OTHER EVENTS.

LIBERTY HELD OUR VETERANS DAY ASSEMBLY ON.

THURSDAY. NOVEMBER 10TH.

MEMBERS OF OUR CAMAS WASHOUGAL BFW POST WERE PRESENT AND SERVED AS COLOR GUARD AND AS A PANEL OF GUEST SPEAKERS.

LIBERTY'S CHOIR PERFORMED, AND SO DID THE LIBERTY BAND.

OUR ASB TOLD US ABOUT THE HISTORY OF VETERANS.

IT HAS BEEN A MOVING TRIBUTE TO THE PEOPLE WHO SERVE AND ABSENT IN OUR COMMUNITY.

VOLLEYBALL AND.

BOYS SOCCER SYSTEMS ARE IN FULL SWING.

ALL TEAMS HAVE BEEN SHOWING GROWTH IN THEIR SKILLS AND LEVELS OF SUCCESS ON.

FIRST. BOYS BASKETBALL.

KNOWLEDGEABLE. AND GIRLS SOCCER WILL BEGIN IN JANUARY.

WE ARE HONORING NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE BY SHARING OUR INFLUENTIAL AND IMPACTFUL INDIVIDUALS IN VARIOUS CAREERS WHO IDENTIFY AS NATIVE AMERICANS.

STUDENTS ARE ABLE TO LEARN ABOUT VARIOUS TRIBES AND THEIR CULTURES.

THIS IS BEING SHARED IN OUR ROARING.

ANOTHER WAY THAT LIBERTY ASB IS TRYING TO LIVE UP TO OUR BE.

THE DIFFERENCE THEME IS BY CONDUCTING OUR WINTER WISHES PROGRAM.

WINTER WISHES IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR STUDENTS WHO WISH FOR SOMETHING THAT IS REASONABLE AND SCHOOL APPROPRIATE.

OVER 200 STUDENTS HAVE MADE WINTER WISHES, RANGING FROM SWEET AND SALTY BACK.

TO APPLYING A TEACHER.

IN THE FACE.

[00:10:01]

WE ARE TRYING TO FULFILL AS MANY WINTER WISHES AS WE POSSIBLY CAN TO SHOW STUDENTS THAT THERE ARE PEOPLE IN THEIR LIVES THAT CAN CARE.

OR STOP THE BUS FUNDRAISER IS COMING TO AN END THIS WEEK.

STUDENTS WILL BE AT SAFEWAY THIS THURSDAY EVENING TO ENTICE PATRONS TO DONATE NONPERISHABLE FOOD ITEMS. WE'LL BE THERE FROM 5 TO 6:30 P.M.

IF. IF YOU HAPPEN TO STOP BY.

LIBERTY WILL BE HOSTING OUR WINTER DANCE AT SCHOOL ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 9TH.

THE DANCE HAS A WINTER THEME AND WILL BE HELD FROM 3:45 TO 5:45 SO THAT MORE STUDENTS HAVE ACCESS TO THE EVENT.

AND THAT IS. ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS FOR HIM? WHAT GRADES ARE YOU GUYS IN? I'M IN SEVENTH, AND WE'RE ALL.

WE'RE ALL. YOU'RE ALL IN SEVENTH GRADE.

WAY TO GO. GOOD JOB.

FANTASTIC. AND LET ME MAKE SURE I GOT THAT RIGHT.

SO THURSDAY, 5 TO 630 AT SAFEWAY FOR STUFF THE BUS, RIGHT.

YOU'RE GOING TO BE ENTICING PATRONS THERE TO OK.

I WANT TO MAKE SURE I'M ADDING THAT TO MY CALENDAR.

ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU GUYS VERY MUCH.

OKAY, MOVING ON.

ITEM THREE, BE ON THE AGENDA.

WE HAVE REPRESENTATIVES FROM OUR STUDENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE.

SO COME ON UP.

INTRODUCE YOURSELVES AND TELL US WHAT'S GOING ON.

WE'RE VERY EXCITED. THIS IS A OUR STUDENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE WAS A TOPIC OF CONVERSATION AT OUR RECENT WAS TO CONVENTION.

SO WE ARE VERY EXCITED TO HEAR ABOUT WHAT'S GOING ON.

ALL RIGHT. I'M KATIE SEIDL, OUR OPPORTUNITIES FOR ACCESS AND INCLUSION COORDINATOR.

WE MEET AGAIN.

I AM SUPPORTING OUR STUDENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE.

SO WITH US TONIGHT, WE HAVE ERICA WOOD THEY CAN INTRODUCE THEMSELVES TO, BUT I WANT TO BECAUSE THEY'RE SO AWESOME.

TIANA TESO AND FIONA ZOU AND THEY ARE GOING TO GIVE YOU A COUPLE OF UPDATES.

THE FIRST UPDATES ARE AROUND THE CHANGES IN OUR BYLAWS THAT THEY HAVE TALKED ABOUT AND AGREED UPON, AND THEY'RE READY FOR YOU TO VOTE ON THOSE TONIGHT.

AND THE SECOND PIECE IS JUST AN UPDATE FROM OUR COMMITTEE AS FAR AS WHAT IT IS WE'RE WORKING ON RIGHT NOW AND WHAT WE'VE BEEN WORKING ON.

WE HAVE MET THREE TIMES SO FAR.

SO THEY ARE HERE TO TELL YOU WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE.

THIS MICROPHONE IS VERY TALL.

ALL RIGHT, WELL, DON'T WORRY.

I HAVE A REALLY LOUD VOICE, SO HOPEFULLY YOU CAN ALL HEAR ME.

HI AGAIN. MY NAME IS ERICA WOOD AND I AM A SENIOR AT DISCOVERY HIGH SCHOOL AND ALSO A MEMBER OF THE STUDENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE.

AND SO I'M GOING TO KICK THINGS OFF BY TALKING ABOUT OUR CHANGES IN BYLAWS.

SO THE FIRST THING THAT WE CHANGED WAS THE OBJECTIVES CHANGED.

SASSY FROM A SOUNDING BOARD TO MORE OF AN ACTION COMMITTEE THAT INCLUDES MORE STUDENTS SERVE AS DISTRICT LIAISONS FOR STUDENTS, ALLOWING EXPRESSION OF VALUES, OPINIONS, BELIEFS AND PERSPECTIVES OF INDIVIDUALS AND GROUPS IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT.

THE NEXT CHANGE THAT WE DID WAS SASSY IS NO LONGER REQUIRED TO WORK AS A PARTNER WITH THE STUDENTS WITH THE CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE, BUT WILL WORK TOGETHER AS PROJECTS ARISE.

I'M TIANA TESO.

I'M A SOPHOMORE AT CHS.

OUR NEXT TWO POINTS ARE STUDENTS WILL COMPETE IN COMPLETE ON AN ONLINE APPLICATION OR BE RECOMMENDED TO JOIN INSTEAD OF THE NOMINATION ONLY PROCESS.

PREVIOUSLY, STUDENT RESIGNATION FROM THE COMMITTEE IS DIRECTED TO THE SUPERINTENDENT OR DESIGNEE RATHER THAN TO THE SCHOOL.

AND THE LAST TWO CHANGES WE HAD ARE THE CO-CHAIRS WILL SERVE AS EQUAL ROLES INSTEAD OF A VICE CHAIR AND A CHAIR.

AND THE COMMITTEE WILL MEET TWICE A MONTH INSTEAD OF ONCE A MONTH.

IN GENERAL, MEETINGS ARE THE FIRST MONDAY OF THE MONTH.

WORK SESSIONS ARE DURING THE WEDNESDAY EARLY RELEASE OF EACH MONTH.

AND MY NAME IS FIONA AND I'M A JUNIOR.

SO THOSE WERE OUR CHANGES IN OUR BYLAWS.

AND NOW WE'RE GOING TO TELL YOU A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHAT WE'VE BEEN KIND OF WORKING ON IN THE PAST THREE MEETINGS AND HOPEFULLY WHAT WE'RE GOING TO BE DOING IN THE FUTURE.

SO THE FIRST THING WE WANT TO TALK ABOUT WITH YOU TODAY IS ONE OF OUR ONE OF THE THREE COMMITTEES THAT WE HAVE UNITY.

SO THIS GROUP IS LOOKING TO CREATE A COMMUNITY OF ASP LEADERSHIP STUDENTS IN THE CAMPUS TO SHARE CALENDARS, STRATEGIES FOR ORGANIZING EVENTS, AND TO FIND COMMON GOALS, INCLUDING A POSSIBLE DISTRICT WIDE ASP EVENT OR CONFERENCE.

CURRENTLY, RIGHT NOW, A LOT OF OUR ASPS ARE DISCONNECTED.

WE DON'T HAVE ANY COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THEM AND WE DON'T REALLY KNOW WHO TO CONTACT OR WHAT EVENTS THEY'RE BEING DONE.

SO THIS WOULD ALLOW FOR STUDENTS TO BE ABLE TO CONNECT WITH EACH OTHER.

AND WE'RE HOPING AND WE'RE HOPING THAT THIS WILL BE A LONG LASTING IMPACT IN OUR COMMUNITY.

OUR NEXT COMMITTEE IS THE WINDOWS AND MIRRORS ELEMENTARY EQUITY, AND THIS GROUP IS CONTINUING THEIR WORK FROM LAST YEAR BY DEVELOPING AND TEACHING EQUITY LESSONS TO

[00:15:08]

ELEMENTARY STUDENTS. FINALLY, WE HAVE OUR STUDENT EXPERIENCE COMMITTEE.

WE ARE WORKING TO COLLECT AND SHARE A STUDENT VOICE ACROSS OUR DISTRICT AND AROUND CLASSROOM, AROUND A CLASSROOM IN STUDENT EXPERIENCES WITH THE GOAL OF IMPROVING STUDENT EXPERIENCES. ANYWAYS.

THAT'S KIND OF WHAT WE'RE UP TO RIGHT NOW AND KIND OF WHAT'S IN THE WORKS.

DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FOR US? I'M SORRY. I LOVE THE UNITY COMMITTEE AND CONNECTING ALL THE ISP'S TOGETHER.

I THINK THAT THAT WOULD BE GREAT FOR THE SCHOOLS TO KIND OF FEEL LIKE THEY ALL KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON AND THEY CAN WORK TOGETHER AND THINGS THAT THEY'RE DOING.

MY QUESTION WAS, HOW MANY PEOPLE DO YOU GUYS HAVE ON THE COMMITTEE BESIDES YOU THREE RIGHT NOW? AND WHAT'S YOUR GOAL LIKE? HOW MANY DO YOU HOPE TO GROW IT TO? SO RIGHT NOW, AT LEAST ON UNITY, I BELIEVE WE HAVE ABOUT SIX STUDENTS THAT ARE KIND OF THE MAIN LEADERS OF THAT COMMITTEE.

AND I BELIEVE IT'S THE EQUITY COMMITTEE IS A LITTLE BIT LARGER, I BELIEVE, AROUND.

WOULD YOU SAY LIKE AND.

WELL, YEAH.

YEAH. AND STUDENTS EXPERIENCES ABOUT EIGHT.

AND SO IN TOTAL WE HAVE ABOUT 30 MEMBERS.

CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG.

AND EVEN THOUGH WE'RE ALL WORKING ON SEPARATE COMMITTEES, WE ARE ALL WORKING TOGETHER TO ACHIEVE OUR ENDEAVORS.

IT'S GOING TO POP IN WITH A COMMENT.

SO LIKE COREY WAS MENTIONING, WE JUST CAME BACK FROM THE SCHOOL BOARD CONFERENCE WITH SCHOOL BOARDS FROM AROUND THE STATE, AND EVERYBODY'S TALKING ABOUT STUDENT VOICE AND THEIR ONE STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE ON THEIR SCHOOL BOARDS AND WE'RE LIKE ONE.

WE GOT 30.

AND SO I THINK THAT THIS MODEL THAT WE HAVE AND THE CHANGES ALREADY, THOSE CHANGES TO THE BYLAWS SHOW US THAT YOU'RE TAKING CONTROL OF THIS AND YOU WANT TO MAKE IT WHAT YOU WANT AND SO THAT YOU CAN OWN YOUR VOICE IN THE DISTRICT.

AND I JUST WANT TO APPLAUD YOU.

I THINK THAT I'M SO HAPPY WITH THIS MODEL THAT WE HAVE AND YOUR OWNERSHIP OF IT.

I THINK IT'S SO MUCH MORE VALUABLE THAN HAVING ONE STUDENT SITTING UP HERE WITH US TWICE A MONTH, KIND OF SAYING, YEAH, OKAY, THAT SOUNDS GOOD.

I MEAN, THIS IS REALLY GREAT.

AND I AND I'M EXCITED TO HEAR WHAT YOU GUYS COME UP WITH AND HOW IT CHANGES YOUR EXPERIENCE AND STUDENTS EXPERIENCE IN THE DISTRICT.

SO THANK YOU FOR SERVING.

CAN YOU TELL ME I'M CURIOUS.

HOW WILL YOU BE REACHING OUT TO THE STUDENTS ON THIS BROADER SCALE? I MEAN, WHAT'S THE METHOD? AND WE'RE CURRENTLY WORKING ON A DISTRICT WIDE SORT OF LIKE FEEDBACK BOX, LIKE, YOU KNOW, LIKE THE LITTLE QUESTION AND ANSWER BOXES WE HAVE.

WE'RE WORKING ON ONE OF THOSE CURRENTLY THAT MAYBE SENT OUT VIA GOOGLE FOR IT'D BE AN ELECTRONIC.

OKAY. SO THAT ANYBODY THAT WANTS MIGHT BE ABLE TO JUMP IN AND EXPRESS INTEREST OR OPINION AND THEN BEGIN TO HELP SHAPE CONVERSATION I BELIEVE WE'RE ALSO WORKING ON.

AWESOME. AWESOME.

THANK YOU. I LOVE THE CHANGES THAT YOU'VE DONE TO THE BYLAWS.

IT FEELS RIGHT.

IT'S ORGANIC. IT HAS COME INTO THAT AND.

AND I DON'T RECALL.

ARE YOU BOTH NEW THIS YEAR? NO, YOU ARE.

YOU WERE HERE LAST YEAR AS A FRESHMAN.

AMAZING. AND I REMEMBER ERICA, TOO.

AND I LOVE IN THE SPIRIT THAT IF YOU WANT TO CONTINUE SERVING, YOU MAY OR YOU MAY CONTINUE.

AND THAT WAS THAT'S A GREAT CHANGE BECAUSE THERE'S SO THERE'S SO MUCH VALUE YOU HOLD COMING IN FROM LAST YEAR THAT YOU CAN SHARE AND YOU COME IN WITH NEW EYES TO BE ABLE TO SHARE YOUR FIRST EXPERIENCE ON THIS COMMITTEE AS WELL.

SO BRAVO TO THE CHANGES.

WE ARE EXCITED TO APPROVE THEM TONIGHT.

SO THANK YOU ALL FOR SERVING.

LIKE CONNIE SAID, EXCITED TO HEAR YOUR YOUR INPUT THROUGHOUT THIS ENTIRE YEAR AND BEYOND.

YEAH. CAN YOU REMIND ME AGAIN WHO ARE THE CO CHAIRS? YOU DON'T HAVE ANY COAT. THEY'RE NOT HERE.

THEY'RE NOT HERE. YOU GUYS ARE JUST REPRESENTING THE COMMUNITY.

OKAY, GOT IT. OKAY, GREAT.

WELL, WE LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING FROM OUR GOAL.

OUR GOAL AS A BOARD IS TO TRY AND HEAR FROM THE COMMITTEE REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE COMMITTEE ONCE A MONTH TO KIND OF LET US KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON.

AND REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE THE LIAISON TO THE BOARD HERE.

AND SO WE ARE WE ARE INTERESTED IN HEARING THAT THAT VOICE FROM YOUR COMMITTEE AND YOU REPRESENTING THE STUDENTS OUT THERE.

SO WHATEVER INFORMATION YOU CAN PASS ON TO US, WE APPRECIATE IT AND WE APPRECIATE YOU SERVING AND.

I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING ELSE TO SAY.

OR IF I IF I MAY, JUST A COUPLE OF THINGS.

FIRST OF ALL, YOUR YOUR PROPOSAL TO INCREASE THE AMOUNT OF TIMES YOU'RE MEETING A MONTH IS JUST INCREDIBLE.

THAT COMMITMENT AND DEDICATION IS WONDERFUL.

[00:20:04]

AND ALSO, I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE WE RECOGNIZE BOTH KATIE AND SHAUNA, WHO'S NOT HERE TONIGHT FOR REALLY REINVIGORATING THIS GROUP AND BRINGING YOUR CREATIVITY, YOUR MOTIVATION AND YOUR INSPIRATION TO THE TO THE STUDENTS.

I THINK THIS IS GOING TO BE A WONDERFUL MATCH.

AND AND AND I LOVE, KATIE, HOW YOU REALLY STEP BACK AND ALLOW THE KIDS TO SHINE NOT ONLY JUST TONIGHT, BUT IN THE MEETINGS.

IT REALLY IS A STUDENT DRIVEN COMMITTEE.

SO THANK YOU FOR YOUR LEADERSHIP TO.

ANYTHING ELSE.

ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

THANK YOU. THAT FEELS GOOD, RIGHT? YEAH. ALL RIGHT, GOOD.

ALL RIGHT. ITEM THREE.

SEE ON THE AGENDA, WE HAVE A REPORT FROM OUR CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE AND KEVIN PASZKOWSKI.

HELLO. I'M KEVIN GORSKI.

I'M A SECOND YEAR MEMBER ON THE CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE AND ALSO ONE OF THE CO-CHAIRS.

WE HAD OUR SECOND MEETING OF THE YEAR ON NOVEMBER 7TH.

AT THAT TIME, WE INTRODUCED OUR NEW MEMBERS THAT HAD COME ON BOARD FROM THE FROM THIS FOR THIS YEAR.

WE ALSO UPDATED SOME BYLAWS.

NOTHING AS EXCITING AS THE STUDENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE, JUST KIND OF CLEANING UP SOME WORDING THAT CONFLICTED.

SO THAT APPROVED AND WENT THROUGH.

WE HAD A SUPERINTENDENT SUPPORT AND WE ALWAYS DO.

JOHN DID A GREAT JOB OF UPDATING US ON ENROLLMENT AND RECOGNIZING SOME FIRST RESPONDERS FOR THE NAKIA CREEK FIRE.

AND THEN WE HAD OUR PRESENTATION FOR THE EVENING, AND THAT WAS DAN HOLT.

HE'S THE PRINCIPAL OF THE SUMMER SCHOOL AND THE CAMPUS CONNECT ACADEMY.

AND HE DID A REALLY GOOD JOB OF JUST PRESENTING TO US WHAT SUMMER SCHOOL WAS LIKE, HOW WE'VE REACHED OUT TO STUDENTS AND KIND OF REACHED OUT TO BOTH THE UPPER GRADES, BUT ALSO THE LOWER GRADES, ESPECIALLY WITH SOME EXTRA FUNDING THAT'S BEEN THERE IN THE PAST.

AND THEN THAT THE PLAN GOING FORWARD IS THAT THEY'RE GOING TO TRY TO USE SOME OF THE MIDDLE OF THE YEAR DATA AS OPPOSED TO END OF YEAR DATA, TRY TO IDENTIFY STUDENTS THAT MIGHT NEED SUMMER SCHOOL AND NEED THAT EXTRA INSTRUCTION IN THE SUMMER SO THAT HOPEFULLY THEIR FAMILIES AND THEY CAN START TO PLAN FOR THAT RATHER THAN BEING KIND OF SURPRISED WITH THAT AT THE END OF THE YEAR.

AND SO THAT WAS ACTUALLY KIND OF GOOD TO HEAR AND SEE HOW THAT WAS GOING.

BUT THEN HE ALSO TALKED ABOUT HOW BEYOND THE THE 2023 SUMMER YEAR, THERE'S GOING TO BE A CHANGE IN FUNDING AND THE LOSS OF A GRANT, AND THAT SOME OF THE THINGS I'VE BEEN ABLE TO DO FOR SOME OF THESE KIDS, ESPECIALLY IN THOSE LOWER GRADES, THE K THROUGH EIGHT GRADES, THAT THERE'S NOT GOING TO BE POTENTIALLY NOT GOING TO BE ACCESS OR AS MUCH HELP FOR THEM. AND AND THEN THAT KIND OF LED INTO THE NEXT TOPIC OF OUR MEETING, WHICH WAS THE INTRODUCTION AND KIND OF WHAT THE COMMITTEE IS GOING TO BE TASKED WITH FOR THE REST OF THE SCHOOL YEAR IS WORKING ON.

THE IDEA OF IS SOMETHING LIKE A BALANCED CALENDAR SOMETHING THAT CAME A SCHOOL DIX WANT SCHOOL DISTRICT WANTS TO RESEARCH AND AND LOOK INTO.

SO GAIL AND DOREEN HAD GONE TO A CONFERENCE WHERE I GUESS THE THE STATE IS KIND OF PUSHING AND FUNDING SCHOOL DISTRICTS TO TRY TO EXPLORE AND LOOK INTO THIS AS AN OPTION AND REALLY LOOKING AT HOW THE LOSS OF LEARNING OVER A BIGGER BREAKS IS CAN BE KIND OF DETRIMENTAL TO THE STUDENTS AND IN MORE WAYS THAN THAN EVEN I REALIZED AT THE TIME.

AND THE GOAL OF THIS IS REALLY TO TRY TO PROVIDE A, YOU KNOW, A POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE THE LEARNING PROCESS FOR THE STUDENTS AND SUCCESS FOR THEM SO THAT WE DON'T HAVE SETBACKS AND HAVE THOSE ISSUES.

AND SO. THE DR.

ANZALONE TEST THE COMMITTEE WITH REALLY RESEARCHING THIS IN DEPTH KIND OF THROUGH THE SCHOOL YEAR, TAKING THIS ON AS A SCHOOL YEAR PROJECT TO TRY TO REALLY SEE IS THIS SOMETHING THAT WE AS A DISTRICT WOULD WANT TO EXPLORE AND LOOK AT IN SOME FORM OR ANOTHER AND REALLY TRY TO DETERMINE IS IS TRYING TO SPREAD THAT LEARNING OUT MORE OF A MORE OF THE SCHOOL YEAR OR THROUGH THE WHOLE YEAR AS OPPOSED TO THE NINE MONTHS OF THE TRADITIONAL SCHOOL YEAR.

SO THE COMMITTEE GOT SOME HOMEWORK.

WE DIVIDE IT UP INTO THREE DIFFERENT GROUPS AND WE WERE GIVEN ACCESS TO SOME RESEARCH PAPERS THAT LOOKED AT THREE BIG AREAS OF THE BALANCED CALENDAR AND HOW IT MAY IMPACT STUDENTS. THE THREE AREAS THAT WE'RE LOOKING AT ARE THE ACADEMIC BENEFITS AND THE EFFECTS ON TEACHER MORALE, HOW THAT WILL DO WITH THAT AND THEN JUST THE EFFECTS ON STUDENT HEALTH, WHICH IS AN AREA THAT I HADN'T THAT I THOUGHT MY MY SECTION OF THE COMMITTEE I HADN'T LOOKED REALLY REALIZED.

AND AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, KIND OF REALIZING WHAT THE STUDIES SHOW AND HOW IT DOES AFFECT JUST HEALTH AND MORE THAN JUST THE LEARNING AND EVERYTHING LIKE THAT, WE KIND OF ALREADY AWARE OF. SO AS WE'RE DOING THIS RESEARCH FOR THIS PROJECT THIS MONTH, LOOKING AT THOSE THREE AREAS, WE'RE KIND OF ASKING OURSELVES LIKE, WHO WOULD BENEFIT MOST FROM THE BALANCED CALENDAR AND HOW DO WE REACH OUT TO THOSE STUDENTS, OR IS IT ALL STUDENTS OR JUST CERTAIN ONES? DOES THIS SUPPORT OUR DISTRICT EQUITY WORK AND WHETHER OR NOT THAT WILL KIND OF SUPPORT THAT AREA? AND THEN KIND OF THE PROS AND CONS, WHAT WILL WE GAIN AND LOSE FROM A BALANCED CALENDAR?

[00:25:04]

AND ALREADY SOME OF THE COMMITTEE MEMBERS WERE THROWING THINGS OUT THERE THAT THAT I WAS SURPRISED AND HADN'T REALLY THOUGHT ABOUT.

WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE NOT ONLY THE DISTRICT BUT THE COMMUNITY AND HOW IT AFFECTS THE STUDENTS AND AND THINGS LIKE THAT.

AND THEN JUST ALSO LOOKING AT LIKE, WHAT DOES THE RESEARCH SHOW? IS IT IS THIS SOMETHING THAT IN THE END, YOU KNOW, HOPEFULLY WE'LL ALL BE LOOKING AT IT IS WHAT'S BEST FOR THE STUDENTS.

AND IS THIS SOMETHING THAT THAT IS THAT IS WORTH EXPLORING AS A DISTRICT? THAT. THAT'S IT.

THANKS. FANTASTIC.

THANK YOU. ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS? COMMENT. I LOVE THAT YOU GUYS ARE EXPLORING THE BALANCED CALENDAR.

THAT'S ANOTHER THING THAT WHEN WE WERE AT WAS TO SOME OF US SAT IN ON SOME BALANCE CALENDAR SESSIONS, LEARNING MORE ABOUT THAT AND WHAT THEY DID WITH WHAT THEY CALLED INTERCESSIONS IN BETWEEN THOSE BREAKS.

AND SO I LOVE THAT YOU GUYS ARE TASKED WITH THAT AND GOING TO AS WE ALL EXPLORE IT OURSELVES AND DISCUSS IT, YOU GUYS DO THAT AS WELL AND WE KIND OF COME TOGETHER.

SO I'M HAPPY TO SEE YOU GUYS ARE STUDYING THAT.

YEAH, COMMITTEE SEEMED REALLY EXCITED ABOUT IT AND DEFINITELY THERE WAS A LOT OF INTEREST AND A LOT OF A LOT OF OPINIONS AND COMMENTS, WHICH IS GOOD.

I THINK IT'LL IT'LL BE GOOD.

A GOOD RESEARCH. ALL RIGHT.

THANK YOU. ALL RIGHT. THANKS, KEVIN.

OK. THAT BRINGS US TO THE END OF OUR REPORTS.

WE'RE ON TO ITEM FOUR A.

[4. SAFE AND HEALTHY SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT]

THIS IS THE APPROVAL OF THE UPDATED BYLAWS FOR THE STUDENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE.

YOU HEARD IN THE REPORT THE A SUMMARY OF THOSE BYLAWS.

YOU HAVE THOSE IN FRONT OF YOU AS WELL.

SO I'D ENTERTAIN A MOTION IN A SECOND.

I MOVE TO APPROVE THE UPDATED BYLAWS OF THE STUDENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE AS SUBMITTED.

SECOND, THAT WAS MOVED BY ERICA, SECONDED BY CONNIE.

ANY FURTHER DISCUSSION? ALL THOSE IN FAVOR OPPOSED.

ALL RIGHT. MOTION CARRIES.

GREAT. THANK YOU.

YES. YOU'RE ALL WELCOME TO STAY AS LONG AS YOU WANT OR SNEAK OUT WHENEVER.

WE WILL NOT. WE WILL NOT TAKE OFFENSE.

ITEM FIVE A ON THE AGENDA BOARD COMMUNICATION.

[5. BOARD COMMUNICATION]

JUST ANYTHING WE WANT TO SHARE.

UPDATE ANYONE ON.

I HAVE A QUICK QUESTION.

SO TALKING ABOUT THE CAC AND THE BOUNCE CALENDAR AND THE LEARNINGS THAT WHEN ARE WE GOING TO SORT OF WHERE ARE WE GOING TO PUT THAT INFORMATION AND LEARNING AND DECIDE WHAT WE'RE GOING TO DO WITH THAT.

I KNOW THE DOUG AND I ARE ON C DO YOU WENT TO THAT SESSION TOO, RIGHT? SO I'M SURE WE CAN SHARE WHAT WE LEARNED IN THE NEXT.

BUT THERE WERE OTHER SESSIONS THAT WE WENT TO AND JUST WE ALWAYS COME HOME WITH ALL THIS INFORMATION AND IDEAS AND I JUST WANT TO WE DIDN'T HAVE ERIKA THIS YEAR TO DO A GOOGLE DOC FOR US AND COLLECT THAT AS WE WENT.

SO I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE WE DON'T LOSE THAT.

YEAH, OF COURSE I CAN.

SO WE'VE BEEN DISCUSSING THAT AND WE ARE LOOKING AT A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT OPTIONS, ONE BEING POTENTIALLY A THOUGHT EXCHANGE WITHIN CAC.

BUT I THINK THIS NEXT MEETING IS REALLY GOING TO BE JUST A JIGSAW KIND OF ACTIVITY THAT WE'RE STILL PLANNING AND REALLY BRINGING ALL OF THOSE THREE COMMITTEES THAT KEVIN SPOKE SPOKE ABOUT TOGETHER TO SHARE SOME IDEAS AND THEN WE CAN REALLY GO FROM THERE.

GAIL OR DOREEN, DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING SPECIFIC TO ADD TO THAT? YEAH. YES.

AND CONNIE ALSO TO ADD TO THAT.

SO OUR NEXT STEP WILL BE AFTER THE DECEMBER MEETING, WE HAVE A BREAK BETWEEN THEN AND FEBRUARY.

WHAT WE'D LIKE TO DO IS GET SOME OF THAT INFORMATION TO OUR BUSINESS SERVICES DEPARTMENT TO START LOOKING AT THE FINANCIAL IMPACT OF SOME OF THESE IDEAS.

WE'LL REALLY HAVE TO BASE THAT ON HOW ROBUST THE CONVERSATION IS AT THE DECEMBER 7/6 MEETING, WHATEVER THAT NEXT THE FIFTH, AND THEN AND THEN MOVE THAT ON TO OTHER DEPARTMENTS.

AND THEN PROBABLY FEBRUARY OR MARCH, WE'LL PROBABLY HAVE SOMETHING LIKELY HAVE SOMETHING TO BRING TO THE BOARD.

I DON'T WANT TO RUSH THE COMMITTEE BECAUSE WE DO WANT TO TAKE OUR TIME AND BE THOUGHTFUL WITH THIS.

BUT YEAH, I'M THINKING SOMEWHERE IN THE SPRING I'D LOVE TO HAVE SOME RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE BOARD AND MOVE ON FROM THERE.

SO DATA COLLECTION, THAT'S A GOOD IDEA THAT WE'LL PUT TOGETHER SOMETHING.

AND CONNIE, WHERE YOU FOR DATA COLLECTION? ARE WE TALKING SPECIFICALLY ABOUT BALANCE CALENDAR OR JUST CONFERENCE DEBRIEF IN GENERAL? OKAY. YEAH.

OKAY. GAIL, WE HAD TALKED ABOUT LIKE A WORKSHOP IN DECEMBER, RIGHT? LIKE SINCE LIKE DOING A WORKSHOP, KIND OF GOING BACK TO OUR OLD MODEL FOR ONE MONTH AND DOING A WORKSHOP RIGHT BEFORE THE BOARD MEETING.

OKAY. YES, SINCE WE ONLY HAVE ONE MEETING IN DECEMBER.

SO JUST KIND OF DOING THAT.

[00:30:02]

SO WE MIGHT GO BACK TO WE'RE GOING TO HASH THAT OUT, BUT I THINK WE MIGHT DO LIKE A 4:00 WORKSHOP BEFORE A 530 BOARD MEETING JUST FOR THAT ONE MONTH.

OKAY. MM HMM.

YEAH. YEAH.

ANY OTHER COMMENTS OR.

OKAY. ALL RIGHT.

LET'S SEE ITEM SIX ON THE AGENDA.

PUBLIC COMMENTS. GAIL, DID WE HAVE ANY? WE HAVE NO PUBLIC COMMENTS.

ALL RIGHT. MOVING ALONG, THEN, ITEM SEVEN A AND B, YOU SAW WE HAD A COUPLE OF ITEMS ADDED TO THE CONSENT AGENDA IN HUMAN

[7. ITEMS ADDED TO THE AGENDA]

RESOURCES AND DONATIONS.

SO WITH THOSE ADDED TO EIGHT, I WOULD ENTERTAIN A MOTION IN A SECOND FOR APPROVAL OF THE CONSENT AGENDA.

[8. CONSENT AGENDA]

I WILL MOVE TO APPROVE THE CONSENT AGENDA AS PRESENTED.

SECOND IT MOVED BY TRACEY AND SECONDED BY ERICA.

ANY FURTHER DISCUSSION? ALL THOSE IN FAVOR? ANY OPPOSED? MOTION CARRIES.

THAT MOVES US ON TO ITEM NINE A OUR SUPERINTENDENTS REPORT.

[9. REPORTS]

DR. ANZALONE. THANK YOU, COREY.

WAIT FOR A SECOND TO LOAD THAT UP.

I'LL GO AHEAD AND GET STARTED.

GAIL'S LOADING THAT UP.

JUST STARTING OUT AGAIN.

I KNOW, HE LAUGHED, BUT CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN TO JAMES OVER AT HAYES.

AGAIN, INCREDIBLE WORK OVER THERE.

AND WE REALLY LIKE WHEN WHEN THE STAFF COMES FORWARD WITH SOME SOME NOMINATIONS COMING RIGHT FROM THE SCHOOLS.

THAT WAS AWESOME. I WANTED TO START OFF WITH SAFETY, A SAFETY UPDATE.

AS MOST OF YOU KNOW, WE'RE REALLY THANKS, COREY.

WE'RE PUTTING A HIGH PRIORITY ON STUDENT SAFETY WITHIN OUR CLASSROOMS, OUR BUILDINGS, OUR COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE.

OBVIOUSLY, WITH WITH EVERYTHING THAT'S GOING ON IN SOCIETY AND CONTINUES TO GO ON, WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR COMMUNITY UNDERSTANDS THAT SAFETY IS OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY.

AND AS A PARENT AND ALL OF US ON THE BOARD BEING PARENTS, I THINK IT'S PERSONAL FOR US AS WELL.

SO I THINK THAT IS AN EXTRA DRIVING FORCE AND MOTIVATION.

SO I'M REALLY, REALLY EXCITED AND PROUD OF THE WORK THAT SHERMAN AND KATHLEEN, WHO'S HERE TONIGHT AND THEIR DEPARTMENT, ARE DOING ON BEHALF OF OUR STUDENTS.

AND SO WE'RE REALLY KIND OF PUTTING SOME THINGS INTO AN IMMEDIATE PROGRESS.

SO, FOR EXAMPLE, THERE'S GOING TO BE A DISTRICT WIDE DISASTER RECOVERY DRILL ON A SATURDAY, DECEMBER 3RD.

AND THAT IS, AGAIN, WE'RE UTILIZING SOME OF THE NEW TECHNOLOGY THAT WE'VE BEEN IMPLEMENTING.

KATHLEEN, DID YOU WANT TO SPEAK ON ANY OF THAT OR JUST HERE FOR QUESTIONS? OKAY, GOOD. EXCELLENT.

I JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE.

SO THE THE ITEM THAT WE'RE GOING TO BE TESTING AND WE HAVE BEEN TESTING IS CRYSIS GO.

WE'RE REALLY EXCITED THAT DOROTHY FOX ELEMENTARY HAS PILOTED THIS AND NOW IT'S ON ALL OF OUR PRINCIPALS DESKTOPS AND ALL OF OUR SCHOOLS.

AND JUST TO REMIND YOU, CRISIS GO IS A DIGITAL SAFETY AND CRISIS RESPONSE PLATFORM DESIGNED TO ALLOW STUDENTS, TEACHERS, STAFF AND PARENTS, AS WELL AS FIRST RESPONDERS TO COMMUNICATE ABOUT SAFETY RELATED ISSUES AT ANY GIVEN IN REAL TIME MOMENT.

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT CRISIS GO IS THAT IF AND WHEN WE DO HAVE AN EVENT ON CAMPUS AND STUDENTS NEED TO REUNITE AT A REUNIFICATION SITE, IT REALLY LIMITS THE AMOUNT OF CHAOS IN A VERY CHAOTIC SITUATION, MEANING THAT OUR OUR TECHNOLOGY WOULD ALLOW FOR ONE TRUSTED ADULT TO PICK UP A STUDENT, CHECK THAT STUDENT OUT ELECTRONICALLY OR DIGITALLY, AND THEN LET'S SAY 15 MINUTES LATER, ANOTHER TRUSTED ADULT COMES AND IS SEARCHING FOR THE CHILD. WE CAN AUTOMATICALLY LET THE FAMILY KNOW WHO, WHAT, WHERE OR WHEN AND WHY THAT STUDENT WAS RELEASED IN THE PAST.

AS AS YOU CAN NOTE FROM OTHER TRAUMATIC EVENTS AROUND THE COUNTRY, THAT HAS BEEN A BIG ISSUE.

IT'S IT'S ADDING CHAOS TO AN ALREADY TRAUMATIC EVENT.

SO WHAT WE'RE TRYING TO DO IS TAKE AWAY AS MUCH OF THAT IN AND THE UNLIKELY SITUATION THAT SOMETHING HAPPENS AS POSSIBLE USING THE RESOURCES THAT WE

[00:35:06]

HAVE. SO, AGAIN, KUDOS KATHLEEN AND SHERMAN AND THEIR TEAM FOR REALLY TAKING THE BULL BY THE HORNS AND REALLY RESEARCHING WHAT'S OUT THERE.

AND I WOULD EXPECT TO SEE IN THE FUTURE BUDGET ITEMS COMING DOWN THE PIKE OF THINGS THAT WE WANT TO DO BECAUSE WE WE WANT TO DO ALL WE CAN FOR FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR STAFF AND OUR STUDENTS.

SO JUST WANTED TO POINT THAT OUT.

QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS ON THAT.

JOHN. I SEE THAT IT'S AN APP THAT AND THAT'S WHAT SHERMAN HAD MENTIONED TO US EARLIER, I THINK, AND IS THE EXPECTATION THAT BUILDING OFFICIALS, PRINCIPALS AND ADMIN TEAMS WILL HAVE THE APP OR THE STUDENTS OR BOTH? THE EXPECTATION.

THE EXPECTATION RIGHT NOW IS THAT ULTIMATELY EVERYBODY WOULD HAVE THE APP ONCE IT'S FULLY ROLLED OUT.

IS THAT CORRECT, KATHLEEN? MM HMM. AND THAT'S PRINCIPAL TEACHERS AND STUDENTS.

NON-STUDENTS. RIGHT.

OKAY. OKAY.

OKAY. THANK YOU.

OKAY. GAIL, DO YOU NEED TO SWITCH? BECAUSE THIS WASN'T. BECAUSE YOU SWITCHED MODES.

THE NEXT THING I WANTED TO TOUCH UPON WAS THE ELEMENTARY SCIENCE OLYMPIAD.

AND THIS WAS JUST AN INCREDIBLE EVENT.

AND WE HAVE SEVERAL PICTURES AND I CAN SEND YOU THOSE.

BUT I ADDED JUST A COUPLE.

HERE YOU SEE THE STUDENTS WORKING.

I LOVE ANY TIME WE SEE KIDS WORKING COLLABORATIVELY LIKE THAT.

AND THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT WE'RE HEARING FROM OUR COMMUNITY, IS THEY WANT TO SEE MORE OF THAT.

THEY WANT TO SEE MORE OF THAT NOT IN OUR CLASS, NOT ONLY IN OUR CLASSROOMS, BUT AT THE JOB SITES.

AND AND WE'RE REALLY HONING IN ON THAT WITH OUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS SPECIFICALLY IS WORKING TOGETHER.

AND THERE'S A PICTURE OF GRASS VALLEY WHO I WANT TO SAY WAS THE WINNER, BUT REALLY THERE'S NO WINNER HERE BECAUSE IT WAS REALLY MORE ABOUT THE ENGAGEMENT OF THE EVENT.

LET ME TELL YOU A LITTLE BIT ABOUT IT.

THE ELEMENTARY SCIENCE OLYMPIAD TOURNAMENT IS USUALLY AN ANNUAL EVENT, BUT BECAUSE OF COVID HAD A LITTLE BREAK THERE.

IT'S FOR FIFTH GRADE STUDENTS THROUGHOUT OUR DISTRICT.

THE COMPETITION IS TEAMS WITHIN TEAMS WHO REPRESENT EACH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

EACH SCHOOL HAS ONE OR TWO TEAMS OF 12 STUDENTS.

K ACTUALLY HAD SIX WHO ARE DIVIDED UP FURTHER INTO GROUPS OF THREE STUDENTS FOR EACH EVENT.

THE EVENTS THIS YEAR WERE THESE ARE KIND OF SOME FUNNY NAMES BODACIOUS BONES, DYNAMIC DENSITY, FEATHERED FRIENDS, GLIDER, GOLF AND WINDMILL WONDERS.

THERE WERE FIFTH GRADERS REPRESENTING ALL OF OUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS, WHICH IS INCREDIBLE.

AGAIN, INCLUDING K.

THE REALLY COOL THING ABOUT THIS TOURNAMENT IS THAT IT IS RUN BY THE HIGH SCHOOL OLYMPIAD TEAM.

SO IT'S THE STUDENTS LEADING STUDENTS, WHICH CONSISTS OF NINE THROUGH 12TH GRADERS.

THERE WERE MORE THAN 50 HIGH SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS ON A SATURDAY WHO HELPED TO SET UP AND RUN EACH EVENT AND AGAIN WHILE WINNING TEAM.

WHILE THE WINNING TEAM WAS GRASS VALLEY, THE GOAL OF THE EVENT WAS TO ENGAGE STUDENTS IN FUN ACTIVITIES AND COMPETITIONS IN SCIENCE.

AND AGAIN, I CAN SEND YOU SOME MORE PICTURES, BUT THIS WAS ONE THAT STOOD OUT TO ME.

SO AND I DON'T THINK DEREK'S HERE TONIGHT.

HE'S PROBABLY IN HIS OFFICE WORKING.

SO IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, WE CAN DRAG THEM IN.

I ALSO WANTED TO TO POINT OUT THREE SPECIFIC WAYS THAT THE COMMUNITY CAN GIVE OVER THE HOLIDAYS.

THE FIRST ONE JUST CAME TO US LAST WEEK.

IT'S CALLED PAL PAL POLICE ACTIVITIES LEAGUE.

THEY'RE IN A PARTNERSHIP WITH WASTE CONNECTIONS AND THEY'RE IN THE PROCESS OF COLLECTING NAMES RIGHT NOW OF APPROXIMATELY 50 KIDS TO RECEIVE BRAND NEW BICYCLES FOR CHRISTMAS, WASTE CONNECTIONS IS FOCUSING DONATIONS ON KIDS WHO DO NOT HAVE ANOTHER WAY TO GET A NEW BIKE AND A HELMET.

AND IF ANYONE IN THE COMMUNITY WANTS TO NOMINATE A STUDENT, THE PERSON, THE CONTACT PERSON IS AMANDA VAYE AND HER EMAIL ADDRESS IS AMANDA AT PAL OF WW A DOT ORG.

SO WANTED TO BRING THE BOARD'S ATTENTION TO THAT.

ALSO OF COURSE THE ANNUAL COMMUNITY CHESS CAMPAIGN.

I KNOW GALS OVER TO MY LEFT.

SHE'S SUPER EXCITED ABOUT THE AMOUNT OF MONEY THAT'S ALREADY BEEN RAISED.

AS MOST OF YOU KNOW, THE CAMAS SCHOOL DISTRICT IS AGAIN RUNNING THE ANNUAL CAMPAIGN AND IT'S A CAMAS WASHOUGAL COLLABORATION TO SEE WHICH SCHOOL HAS THE HIGHEST PERCENTAGE OF EMPLOYEES WHO GIVE THE WINNING SCHOOL RECEIVES A CHIPS AND SALSA AND GLOCK PARTY, WHICH OBVIOUSLY CAUGHT YOUR ATTENTION WITH THAT DOUG DURING ONE OF DURING ONE OF OUR STAFF MEETINGS THAT'S DONATED BY NUESTRO MESA.

[00:40:05]

SO YOU CAN READ A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT THAT.

GAIL, DID YOU WANT TO SHARE THE THE THE THE DRUM ROLL TOTAL? AS OF NOW, I'M SUPER EXCITED.

THIS YEAR WE'RE HIGHER THAN ANY PREVIOUS YEAR.

WE'RE SITTING RIGHT AT 70 $400 GIVEN BY OUR STAFF.

AWESOME. AND LAST BUT DEFINITELY NOT LEAST, IS OF COURSE, THE STUFF THE BUS CAMPAIGN, WHICH WAS NOTED EARLIER BY LIBERTY, I WAS ABLE TO DO A LITTLE VIDEO SEGMENT WITH MARY TEMPLETON, THE SUPERINTENDENT FROM WASHOUGAL, A RACE DOWN THE AISLE THE DAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING, WHICH WAS PRETTY INTENSE.

WE HAD A REALLY CIRCLE AROUND A LOT OF PEOPLE.

BUT NOW THROUGH DECEMBER 2ND, THE SCHOOL DISTRICT IS IN A FRIENDLY, WELL, SORT OF FRIENDLY COMPETITION WITH WASHOUGAL AND COLLECTING THE MOST FOOD IN WEIGHT FOR THE FAMILY, OUR FAMILIES IN NEED.

THE MARCHING BAND WILL PARTICIPATE ON THIS COMING FRIDAY ON THE SECOND AND PLAY HOLIDAY MUSIC WHILE SCHOOLS LOAD UP THE BUSSES FOR WEIGH IN.

WE'RE LOOKING FOR SOUPS AND STEWS AND POWDERED MILK AND CANNED FOOD.

THE LIST GOES ON AND ON.

THERE'S A LIST THERE.

AND SO WE'RE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT HOW THAT'S GOING TO GO AND HELPING OUT MANY COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN NEED.

WITH THAT SAID, I JUST WANTED TO THANK THE BOARD AGAIN FOR THE INCREDIBLE SITE VISIT THE VIRTUAL SITE VISIT, I SHOULD SAY, WITH CAMAS KINECT ACADEMY.

LAST WEEK, DR.

DAN WAS OUR HOST AND WE WERE ABLE TO VISIT TO CLASSROOMS. AS YOU KNOW, WE VISITED MS..

GARCIA, WHO DID AN AWESOME JOB, IN MY OPINION, WITH HER WELCOMING, MEETING, MAKING SURE THE KIDS FELT INCLUDED AND GOT THEM OFF TO A GREAT START IN THE MORNING.

AND THEN WE SHIFTED OVER TO MS..

BARRY JONES, WHO REALLY DID AN AMAZING JOB, IN MY OPINION, WITH A REAL TIME LAB AND DEMONSTRATING WHAT IT WOULD LOOK LIKE TO RAISE A DINOSAUR. AND THEY WERE ABLE TO MEASURE AND USE SOME SCIENTIFIC METHODS TO DO THAT.

AND I JUST WANTED TO DO A QUICK KUDOS TO THE ENTIRE TEAM AT CAMAS CONNECT BECAUSE NOT ONLY HAVE THEY MADE THINGS WONDERFUL VIRTUALLY, BUT THEY PROVIDE A LOT OF REAL LIFE OPPORTUNITIES BOTH IN THE STUDENTS HOME, BUT ALSO GETTING OUT INTO NATURE.

AND YOU CAN SEE A PICTURE THERE OF THOSE EXACT TWO TEACHERS WITH SOME STUDENTS ON A FIELD TRIP DURING A TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR AND A HIKE, AND IT DIDN'T STOP THEM.

AND THAT'S ONE THING I'M LEARNING ABOUT OUR STATE HERE IS YOU DON'T LET THE RAIN STOP YOU.

SO I'M NOT QUITE THERE YET.

SO AND THEN LAST BUT NOT LEAST, JUST I JUST WANT TO THANK THE BOARD AGAIN AND DOREEN AS WELL.

GAIL, FOR ALL THE SET UP AND PREPARATION, I JUST HAD AN INCREDIBLE TIME MEETING YOU ON A ON A MORE PERSONAL LEVEL, BUT ALSO THE CONTENT THAT WE WE WERE ABLE TO DISCOVER.

YOU KNOW, I KNOW YOU MENTIONED BALANCED CALENDAR, BUT ALSO THE WORK AROUND MTS, MTS AND EQUITY AND THE WHOLE THEME OF BELONGING, WHICH YOU SEE HERE.

WHAT THE CONFERENCE DID FOR ME WAS REASSURE ME OF THE WORK THAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING WELL BEFORE I CAME ON BOARD, AND THAT REALLY THE THE LIFE THAT WE ARE TRYING TO PROVIDE FOR OUR CHILDREN HERE IN CAMAS IS RIGHT ON TRACK WITH THE REST OF THE STATE.

AND PROBABLY IN MANY WAYS WE'RE LEADING THE WAY.

AND SO THAT'S WHAT WAS EXCITING FOR ME WAS A REASSURANCE, BUT ALSO A REASSURANCE THAT WE ARE LEADERS AMONG NOT JUST SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON, BUT THE ENTIRE STATE.

SO WE DEFINITELY MISSED YOU, ERICA, BUT WE HAD A GREAT TIME ON YOUR BEHALF.

AND I JUST PUT UP A COUPLE OF PICTURES.

THE GENTLEMAN ON MY LEFT, I DON'T KNOW IF EVERYBODY HAD A CHANCE TO MEET IAN.

I WAS ACTUALLY FOLLOWING HIM ON TWITTER.

SO BEFORE THIS, I KIND OF FELT LIKE I WAS MEETING A CELEBRITY.

BUT HE'S AN INCREDIBLE SUPERINTENDENT, VERY PASSIONATE, MOTIVATING, AND HAS BEEN DOING SOME GREAT WORK AROUND STRATEGIC PLANNING.

AND I PICKED UP A LOT FROM IAN.

AND THEN OF COURSE, OUR TWO, TWO OF OUR FIVE AMAZING BOARD MEMBERS, TRACY AND CONNIE, HAVING A GOOD TIME AT ONE OF THE SESSIONS AND THEN ME BUNDLED UP HERE GETTING USED TO THE CLIMATE. SPOKANE WAS NOT VERY FRIENDLY TO ME WHEN IT CAME TO THAT.

BUT YOU SEE CONNIE DOREEN, I THINK IS IN THERE SOMEWHERE, PROBABLY GIVING US SOME DIRECTIONS BECAUSE WE WERE USUALLY LOST WITHOUT HER AND THEN DOUG WAVING IN THE BACK.

SO THANK YOU AGAIN FOR THE OPPORTUNITY.

I'M REALLY EXCITED FOR NEXT YEAR AND HOPEFULLY WE CAN HAVE THE WHOLE BOARD BACK AGAIN AND AND MOVE FROM THERE.

SO WITH THAT SAID, THAT'S MY SUPERINTENDENT REPORT FOR THIS WEEK, THIS MONTH.

ONE OTHER THING I WOULD JUST ADD ON THIS IS YOU'RE BRINGING UP WHAT'S HIS NAME? HE WAS FROM EVERETT IAN.

IAN SOLOMON. THERE WE GO.

YES. SO YOU AND I WERE IN THAT SESSION ON THE ON THE STRATEGIC PLANNING.

AND I'M EXCITED TO GET OUR STRATEGIC PLANNING PROCESS GOING.

AND DOREEN WASN'T THERE A PARENT SQUARE THAT WENT OUT ABOUT THAT OR I'M A PARENT SQUARE AND A THOUGHT EXCHANGE IN PARENT SQUARE.

OKAY, SO JUST WANT TO MAKE A PLUG FOR THAT AS WELL THAT WE'RE KIND OF GETTING GOING A LITTLE BIT ON OUR STRATEGIC PLANNING.

[00:45:04]

SO IF YOU ARE ON PARENT SQUARE AND SEE THAT, GIVE US YOUR GIVE US YOUR THOUGHTS.

SO THANKS FOR THAT REMINDER, COREY.

ANY OTHER QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS? ALL RIGHT. GREAT.

WE'LL MOVE ON TO ITEM NINE, BE OUR MONTHLY BUDGET REPORT WITH JASON MCKEITHEN.

RIGHT. GOOD EVENING.

SO I'M GOING TO COVER A FEW DIFFERENT TOPICS THIS EVENING.

WE DID OUR FINAL CLOSE OUT OF THE LAST FISCAL YEAR, I THINK AT THE LAST BOARD MEETING OR BOARD MEETINGS AGO, I GAVE YOU A PRELIMINARY.

SO I'VE GOT SOME FINAL FIGURES THERE.

WE'RE GLAD TO HAVE THAT WRAPPED UP.

SO WE HAVE A FOOT ALSO IN THIS YEAR, OBVIOUSLY.

SO IT'S NICE TO PUT THAT TO BED AS WE START LOOKING AT BUDGETING FOR THE FUTURE.

SO HERE'S A QUICK SNAPSHOT ON KIND OF HOW WE ENDED THE FISCAL YEAR.

OVERALL, REVENUES AND EXPENDITURES WERE PRETTY CLOSE.

WE ENDED WITH WITH A DEFICIT OF ABOUT 420,000.

AND REALLY, COVID RELIEF FUNDS PLAYED A BIG ROLE AT YEAR.

OBVIOUSLY, WE HAD WE HAD RECEIVED ABOUT 2.4 MILLION IN COVID RELIEF FUNDS.

AND THAT IS KIND OF THE END OF OF OF ANY MAJOR SUBSTANTIAL COVID RELIEF FUNDS.

WE HAVE SOME THAT'LL TRICKLE IN THIS YEAR, BUT NOT VERY MUCH, ONLY ABOUT 400,000.

SO LOOKING AHEAD, REALLY, WE'RE GOING TO BE PAYING CLOSE ATTENTION TO WHAT THE LEGISLATURE IS DOING, BECAUSE REALLY, ABSENT ANY SORT OF STATE FUNDING MODEL CHANGES, WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO MAKE SOME SOME SOME CHANGES WITHIN THE ORGANIZATION TO ALIGN OUR EXPENDITURES CLOSER WITH OUR REVENUE.

SO WE MADE THAT COMMITMENT A FUND BALANCE FOR THIS YEAR.

AND. BUT LOOKING AHEAD TO THAT 23, 24 YEAR, WE'LL HAVE TO AGAIN.

WE OUGHT TO BE PATIENT.

OBVIOUSLY, WITH THE LEGISLATIVE SESSION, WHICH STARTS IN JANUARY, I MUST SAY, AND IT IS A LONG SESSION, SO WE PROBABLY WON'T HAVE SOME OF THOSE ANSWERS UNTIL APRIL IF IT EXTENDS AND GOES TO FULL WELL DISTANCE, WHICH IT TYPICALLY DOES.

SO TRANSITIONING INTO THIS YEAR, THE FIRST TWO MONTHS OF THIS YEAR, SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER OF 2022, AS WE'VE MENTIONED, ENROLLMENT HAS COME IN PRETTY CLOSE TO WHAT WE HAD FORECAST.

SO REALLY NO MAJOR CHANGES ON ON KIND OF THE BASIC ED END OF THINGS.

WE DID SEE SOME REVENUE ENHANCEMENTS IN SOME OF THE OTHER AREAS, WHICH I'LL GO INTO LATER.

BUT IN THOSE FIRST TWO MONTHS, REALLY GENERAL FUND KIND OF TRACKED ALONG AS WE HAD EXPECTED.

KEEP IN MIND, OCTOBER IS ONE OF THE TWO MONTHS IN WHICH PROPERTY TAX COLLECTIONS COME IN.

THE OTHER BEING APRIL.

AND SO THAT TENDS TO GIVE A BOOST TO OUR REVENUES IN THOSE FUNDS THAT WHERE WE HAVE LEVIES.

SO IN THE GENERAL FUND, IT'S THE E.P.A.

LEVY OR MONO OR BASICALLY OPERATIONAL LEVY.

DEBT SERVICE FUND IS ANOTHER AS WELL AS OUR CAPITAL LEVY IS IN OUR CAPITAL PROJECTS.

BUT SO THAT'S KIND OF A RECAP FOR THOSE FIRST TWO MONTHS.

IN THE CAPITAL PROJECTS, I WILL SAY YOU'LL SEE SOME EXPENDITURES THERE FOR OCTOBER, AND THAT'S THAT WE MAKE AN ANNUAL LEASE PAYMENT FOR A LOT OF OUR TECHNOLOGY THAT WE LEASE. SO THAT HIT THAT MONTH.

SO NOTHING ELSE TO REALLY REPORT IN THOSE OTHER FUNDS.

EXCUSE ME, LOOKING AHEAD TO 2223 PROJECTION.

THE LINE CLOSER TO THE BOTTOM THERE WE HAD IN OUR BUDGET PROJECTED ABOUT A $5.8 MILLION DEFICIT.

GIVEN KIND OF THE TRENDS THAT WE'RE SEEING RIGHT NOW, THAT'S IMPROVED TO ABOUT $4.8 MILLION DEFICIT.

THERE'S A FEW OBVIOUS CAVEATS BEING THIS EARLY IN THE YEAR, WHICH I'LL GO INTO, BUT AT LEAST EARLY INDICATIONS THAT'S GOING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.

RIGHT? SO ON THE REVENUE SIDE.

AS I MENTIONED, MANY OF LIKE OUR BASIC APPORTIONMENT REALLY DIDN'T CHANGE MUCH, BUT WE'D HAVE SEEN SOME, YOU KNOW, AN UPTICK IN SOME OF THE SPECIALIZED OR RESTRICTED FUNDING AREAS.

AND THAT'S BECAUSE ENROLLMENTS UP A LITTLE BIT IN SPECIAL ED, AS WELL AS A COUPLE OF OTHERS.

AND SO, YOU KNOW, COLLECTIVELY THAT BOOST BOOSTS OUR REVENUES UP ABOUT 1.1 MILLION.

[00:50:04]

AND THEN LOOKING AHEAD ON THE EXPENDITURE SIDE, REALLY THE NET DIFFERENCE IS ABOUT A HALF MILLION.

SO NOT A MAJOR CHANGE THERE.

SO. BUT I WILL SAY IT'S AWFULLY EARLY.

AND WHAT TENDS TO HAPPEN, PARTICULARLY WITH CLASSIFIED SALARIES, IS THAT OVER THE COURSE OF THE YEAR, STUDENT NEEDS ARE IDENTIFIED, PARTICULARLY IN SPECIAL ED.

AND SO WE TEND TO HIRE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.

SO THAT COULD START TO KIND OF PUSH SOME OF OUR EXPENDITURES UP AS THE YEAR GOES ON.

IT'S VERY IT'S VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FORECAST.

BUT DON'T BE SURPRISED IF THAT STARTS TO INCREASE AS THE YEAR GOES ON.

HAVE KIND OF THE TRADITIONAL REPORTS THAT HAVE PROVIDED IN THE PAST TO CONTINUE THROUGHOUT THIS YEAR.

AND REALLY GO ANY FURTHER.

WAS THERE EVER ANY QUESTIONS? JASON, I DO HAVE ONE QUESTION.

SO YOU SAID THAT THAT JUST GOING BACK HERE AND LOOKING SO OUR STATE SPECIAL PURPOSE, THE THE THE INCREASE IN THAT OR THE DIFFERENCE ON BUDGETED VERSUS PROJECTED, THAT'S MAINLY FROM SPECIAL ED.

BACK WHEN MORE. YEAH, THAT ONE.

YES. THAT'S MAINLY FROM SPECIAL ED.

YEAH. YES. OKAY. SO THE ENROLLMENT IS UP A LITTLE BIT.

THE ENROLLMENT IS UP. SO THAT MEANS WE GOT MORE FUNDING FROM THE STATE FOR THAT OR WE'RE PROJECTED TO GET MORE.

BUT THE STATE DOESN'T NECESSARILY FULLY FUND THAT.

NO, THEY DO NOT. THAT'S A VERY GOOD POINT, SIR.

SO ACTUALLY, SPECIAL ED PROGRAM IS FUNDED FROM ALL THREE FUNDING SOURCES, STATE, FEDERAL AND LOCAL.

AND SO WHILE ENROLLMENT MAY GO UP AND AND THAT DOES INCREASE STATE FUNDING, DOESN'T AFFECT FEDERAL IS NOT GOING TO AFFECT THE LOCAL EITHER.

SO THAT'S WHAT I WAS GOING AS WELL AS IT GOES.

DOES THAT MEAN BECAUSE IT'S NOT FULLY FUNDED, DOES THAT MEAN WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO RELY ON LEVY A LITTLE BIT MORE THAN FOUR TO TO COVER SOME OF THAT? YEAH. SO IN THIS PARTICULAR YEAR SINCE WE WE DEDICATED A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF FUND BALANCE, IT'LL JUST IT'LL REALLY COME OUT OF FUND BACK.

SO IN A SENSE, BUT WE ARE STILL COVERING PART OF THAT.

EXACTLY. WE JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE FUNDED ABSENT ABSENT A FUNDING MODEL CHANGE, WE ARE STILL COVERING PART OF THAT.

JUST THAT WAS MY AND COREY, IF I CAN JUST ADD, AND I BELIEVE THAT'S WHY THE NUMBER ONE PRIORITY FROM AT LEAST THE SOUTHWEST REGION OF WASHINGTON IS GOING TO BE FULLY FUNDING SPECIAL EDUCATION FOR THAT VERY REASON.

AS WE'VE HEARD FROM OTHER OTHER DISTRICTS, MANY ARE IN THE SAME BOAT AS US WHERE WE'RE HAVING TO FILL THE GAP.

IF WE CAN GET TO A POINT WHERE THE STATE FILLS THAT GAP, THEN WE CAN USE OUR LEVIES FOR EXACTLY WHAT THEY WERE INTENDED FOR, FOR WHATEVER THAT INTENT WAS.

AND SO I THINK THAT'S THE GOAL GOING INTO THIS SESSION.

HAD A LEGISLATIVE FORUM TODAY WITH ABOUT A DOZEN OR A LITTLE LESS THAN A DOZEN LEGISLATORS, AND THEY'RE HEARING US LOUDLY AND CLEARLY.

SO WE JUST HAVE TO KEEP THE CONVERSATION GOING.

WE CAN'T JUST STOP BECAUSE IT'S BARELY DECEMBER.

SO BUT GREAT POINT.

THANKS, JASON. YEAH.

TO GIVE YOU A PERSPECTIVE, ABOUT 25 TO $0.30 OF EVERY DOLLAR SPENT ON SPECIAL ED PROGRAMING IS LOCALLY FUNDED.

OKAY. THAT'S RIGHT.

ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU. ALL RIGHT.

ANY OTHER QUESTIONS FOR JASON? ALL RIGHT, JASON, THANK YOU.

ALL RIGHT. ITEM TEN ON OUR AGENDA.

[10. POLICY REVIEW - FIRST READING]

WE HAVE FIRST READING OF A FEW.

IT LOOKS LIKE ABOUT NINE POLICIES.

ERICA AND I MET WITH DR.

ANZALONE AND WITH GAIL TO GO OVER CHANGES TO THESE POLICIES HERE, WHICH YOU HAVE IN FRONT OF YOU.

I DON'T KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS ON THEM.

OTHERWISE, SINCE THIS IS JUST FIRST READING, WE'LL JUST MOTION IN A SECOND FOR FIRST READING AND THEY'LL COME BACK AT THE DECEMBER MEETING FOR FINAL APPROVAL.

ONE POINT OF CLARIFICATION, AND I HAVE READ IT NOW A COUPLE OF TIMES, AND I THINK I UNDERSTAND I JUST WANT TO CONFIRM IT, WHICH MEANS ON THE I CAN'T HEAR YOU.

GOT ME CLOSER. YOU REALLY DON'T.

BUT LET'S SEE HERE.

I HAVE A POLICY 24 TO 20 GRADING IN PROGRESS REPORTING.

AND I JUST WANTED TO CONFIRM THAT IF THE TEACHER DOES NOT ADVISE IS MEANING THAT THE TEACHER MUST ADVISE IN ORDER FOR ATTENDANCE TO BE CONSIDERED IS THE POSITIVE WAY THAT SHOULD BE STATED THAT THERE IS A AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH TERM WILL SPECIFY IN WRITING STUDENT LEARNING GOALS, YADA YADA. STUDENTS. STUDENTS GRADES MAY BE ADVERSELY AFFECTED.

FAILURE TO ATTEND.

PARTICIPATE. AM I READING?

[00:55:03]

IT'S HIGHLIGHTED. I'M ASSUMING IT'S AN ADDITION.

IF THE TEACHER DOES NOT ADVISE STUDENTS IN WRITING, THE TEACHER MAY NOT USE ATTENDANCE AND PARTICIPATION IN THE GRADING PROCESS.

THAT'S A NEGATIVE WAY OF SAYING THE TEACHER MUST ADVISE STUDENTS.

IN WRITING. YEAH.

YEAH. THEY MUST PUT IT, THEY MUST ESTABLISH IT CLEARLY BEFOREHAND.

AND JUST MAKING SURE.

YES. WHY? WHY THE REDACTION OF THE.

WITHHOLD WITHHOLDING UNTIL EACH STUDENT PAYS.

IS THERE IS THERE SOME PURPOSE OTHER THAN JUST JUDGMENT? IS THERE THAT'S THE THE REDACTION OF THE WITHHOLDING.

THE. YOU MUST PAY OFF YOUR YOUR EXPENSES BEFORE WILL.

THAT'S JUST THAT'S SOMETHING THAT'S KIND OF GONE THROUGH OUR GONE THROUGH OUR EQUITY LENS IN TERMS OF NOT NOT HOLDING NOT HOLDING A STUDENT FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR STILL THEY'RE STILL RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOR THE FEE BUT NOT NEGATIVELY IMPACTING THEIR THEIR PROGRESS REPORT.

YEAH. CORRECT.

YEAH. YEAH.

THANK YOU. THAT WAS THE ONLY QUESTIONS I HAD.

MOTION FOR APPROVAL OF THE OF THE SLATE OF POLICIES TO FIRST READING.

AND I WILL SECOND THAT FOR FIRST READING.

OKAY. SO WE HAVE A MOTION FROM DOUG AND A SECOND FROM TRACY FOR APPROVAL OF FIRST READING FOR ITEMS A THROUGH I.

I GUESS JUST IN THE AMOUNT OF 129,779 AND $0.62 FOR THE THE PORTABLE ROOFS.

YES. YEAH. AND THE VENDOR ON THAT IS GARLAND DEBES.

OH SORRY. EITHER IT IS SECOND.

MOTION CARRIES THERE.

ALL RIGHT. ITEM E ARE A MULTILINGUAL LEARNER PLAN FOR 2020 TO 2023.

THIS WAS DISCUSSED IN DEPTH AT OUR LAST WORK SESSION.

[01:00:01]

I WILL MOVE FOR APPROVAL.

AND I WILL TELL YOU, AFTER SITTING IN ON THIS TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN, THE SESSION REALLY EXCITED ABOUT JUST THIS WHOLE IDEA AND THE ENERGY THAT THAT IMPARTS TO A STUDENT'S TRAJECTORY COMING THROUGH SCHOOL.

SO AN ENTHUSIASTIC MOTION TO APPROVE AND THAT'S.

LEARNING WITHOUT TEARS.

GET SET FOR SCHOOL CURRICULUM IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,645.
