ALL RIGHT. WE ARE READY TO GO WITH OUR 4:30 WORKSHOP.

[1. School Board Workshop - 4:30 PM]

DR. ANZALONE, I'LL GO AHEAD AND TURN IT OVER TO YOU FOR INTRODUCTIONS.

YOU GOT IT.

WELL, THANK YOU, EVERYONE, FOR BEING HERE.

FIRST OFF, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR WONDERFUL ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT.

IT WAS YESTERDAY, BUT WE'LL BE CELEBRATING ALL WEEK LONG.

MHM.

YES, AND WE KNOW IT.

ANYWAY, THANK YOU ALL FOR COMING TOGETHER TODAY.

THIS IS ALWAYS A VERY, VERY SPECIAL WORKSHOP.

I WANT TO JUST TAKE A SECOND BEFORE I PASS IT OFF TO OUR DIRECTORS.

A HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR INCREDIBLE PRINCIPALS, ASSOCIATE PRINCIPALS.

THANKS EVERYONE HERE.

THEIR LEADERSHIP, ESPECIALLY OVER THIS LAST, I WOULD SAY, MONTH OR SO, OVER SEVERAL YEARS, BUT THIS LAST MONTH HAS BEEN CHALLENGING, BUT THEY HAVE REALLY DONE AN AMAZING JOB REALLY BRIDGING ALL OF OUR STAFF AND HELPING START SCHOOL OFF AS SMOOTHLY AS POSSIBLE.

SO WITHOUT OUR INCREDIBLE BUILDING LEADERS, WE'RE NOT ABLE TO DO WHAT WE DO EVERY DAY.

SO WE'RE HERE TO SERVE THEM AND THEY'RE HERE TO SERVE THE KIDS IN THEIR COMMUNITIES, AND THEY DO IT WITH ABSOLUTE RESPECT AND PROFESSIONALISM AND GRACE.

SO THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU DO WITH THAT, SAID COREY, IF IT'S OKAY WITH YOU, I'LL PASS IT OFF TO ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT AND DIRECTOR.

OKAY. ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT GRESETH.

WELL, GOOD. GOOD EVENING.

YES, THAT'S RIGHT.

THANK YOU FOR JOINING US, AND AS DR.

ANZALONE TALKED ABOUT, OUR WONDERFUL ELEMENTARY BUILDING LEADERS ARE HERE AND WE'RE GOING TO TALK ABOUT OUR CONTINUOUS GROWTH AT THE ELEMENTARY LEVEL TONIGHT

[A. Elementary Continuous Growth]

AND SO THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY THAT I ALWAYS LOOK FORWARD TO WHEN THE BOARD AND OUR PRINCIPALS GET TOGETHER AND TALK ABOUT WHAT'S HAPPENING IN OUR IN OUR BUILDINGS SPECIFIC AROUND OUR LITERACY WORK, AND IT'S VERY EXCITING WORK.

SO WITH THAT, I'M GOING TO HAND IT BACK OFF TO LISA AND I SECOND DOUG.

WE LOVE THESE WORKSHOPS BECAUSE THEY GIVE US A CHANCE TO SHOW YOU HOW MUCH IS HAPPENING IN EACH OF OUR BUILDINGS LED BY OUR BUILDING LEADERS AND PARTICIPATED IN BY ALL STAFF IS WE'RE REALLY FOCUSING ON STUDENT LEARNING, AND SO.

THE FIRST CONNECTION THAT WE WANT TO MAKE IS TO THE STRATEGIC PLAN.

SO, AS YOU KNOW, THAT IS IN DEVELOPMENT, AND AGAIN, BASED ON A DRAFT THAT WAS STARTED BEFORE DR.

ANZALONE CAME TO CAMAS AND HAS GONE THROUGH SOME REVISION, WHICH YOU'LL SEE MORE OF SOON AS YOU AS WE DO UPDATES, BUT WHAT WE KNOW IS THAT THERE ARE TWO PRIMARY AREAS THAT ARE RISING OUT OF ALL OF THE INPUT THAT WE HAVE GATHERED FROM VARIOUS GROUPS, AND THOSE TWO AREAS ARE EQUITABLE ACCESS FOR EACH LEARNER AND RESPONSIVE PATHWAYS, AND SO THE ONE WE'RE FOCUSING ON TONIGHT IS EQUITABLE ACCESS FOR EACH LEARNER, AND ONE OF THE GOALS WITHIN THAT AREA IS THAT EVERY SCHOOL WILL HAVE A MULTI-TIERED SYSTEM OF SUPPORTS, OTHERWISE AFFECTIONATELY REFERRED TO AS MTSS FOR SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL LEARNING, ACADEMICS AND BEHAVIOR AND WE'VE PUT ON THE SLIDE, AND I'LL SAY IT JUST FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE LISTENING AS WELL, THAT WHEN WE TALK ABOUT EQUITABLE ACCESS, THERE ARE MANY WORDS WE USE THAT WE FIND THAT WE NEED TO CONTINUALLY DEFINE BECAUSE THEY MEAN SO MANY DIFFERENT THINGS TO DIFFERENT PEOPLE, AND SO FOR US, EQUITABLE ACCESS.

THIS DEFINITION COMES FROM A LEADER'S GUIDE TO EQUITABLE MTSS, AND IT'S EVERY LEARNER HAS EQUITABLE ACCESS TO TIER ONE OR CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION THAT MEETS THEIR NEEDS WHILE ALSO GETTING ADDITIONAL SUPPORT WHEN NECESSARY.

THIS IS THE SLIDE THAT I MUST PUBLICLY SAY THAT ERIKA DOES NOT LIKE THE GRAPHIC OF, BUT IT'S OKAY, BECAUSE IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING THE STRATEGIC PLAN READY, WE WILL HAVE A MUCH MORE REFINED NOT NOT AT THE MERCY OF PAGES THE GRAPHICS THAT WE HAVE AVAILABLE TO US, BUT WHAT THIS IS INTENDED TO SHOW IS THAT FOR OUR STRATEGIC PLAN, IT CENTERS STUDENTS AS IT SHOULD, AND THEN AROUND STUDENTS, YOU SEE OUR TWO GOAL AREAS EQUITABLE ACCESS FOR EACH LEARNER AND THEN RESPONSIVE PATHWAYS, AND THEN THERE'S THE ACKNOWLEDGMENT THAT THERE ARE MANY, MANY THINGS THAT NEED TO BE PROVIDED WITHIN A SYSTEM IN ORDER FOR US TO BE ABLE TO REACH OUR GOALS FOR STUDENTS, AND THOSE INCLUDE PROFESSIONAL LEARNING, SHARED LEADERSHIP, CAREGIVER, FAMILY AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS AND ALIGNED RESOURCES.

SO THIS GRAPHIC REALLY POINTS US TO WHAT IS IT GOING TO LOOK LIKE TO DO THE WORK THAT WE DO FOR OUR STUDENTS TODAY.

OUR OUTCOME IS SPECIFICALLY FOR YOU, A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF THE BIG PICTURE OF MULTI-TIERED SYSTEM OF SUPPORTS AND HOW IT CONNECTS TO DISTRICT SCHOOL AND CLASSROOM LEVEL

[00:05:08]

PRACTICE, AND WE'RE GOING TO DO THAT TONIGHT THROUGH THE LENS OF THE ELEMENTARY PROBLEM OF PRACTICE AND THEORY OF ACTION ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE.

THIS IS A GRAPHIC THAT WE WILL CONTINUE TO BRING TO YOU BECAUSE IT'S ONE THAT'S GUIDING OUR WORK THAT TALKS ABOUT, FIRST OF ALL, THAT WASHINGTON AND THE OFFICE OF SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION ARE ALSO VERY FOCUSED ON MULTI-TIERED SYSTEMS OF SUPPORT, SYSTEM OF SUPPORTS.

IT MATTERS WHERE THE 'S' GOES AND THAT SYSTEM INCLUDES THESE FIVE COMPONENTS THAT YOU SEE IDENTIFIED THERE, AND WE WILL BE SPENDING MORE TIME EXPLAINING WHAT EACH OF THOSE MEANS AND GIVING YOU A CHANCE TO HEAR HOW THOSE ARE PLAYING OUT IN THE WORK THAT OUR ELEMENTARY BUILDINGS ARE DOING, AND WITH THAT, SO AS YOU SEE ON THE SCREEN UP THERE, HERE'S OUR THEORY OF ACTION AT THE ELEMENTARY LEVEL.

SO KNOW THAT ALL SIX OF OUR BRICK AND MORTAR ELEMENTARIES, THIS IS THEIR THEORY OF ACTION.

SO WE TALK ABOUT THE ALIGNMENT THAT IS IN OUR ELEMENTARY BUILDINGS.

HERE'S A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF THAT, AND SO THE THEORY OF ACTION AS YOU CAN SEE IS IF WE IMPLEMENT A MULTI-TIERED SYSTEM OF SUPPORTS FOR LITERACY, FOCUSING ON TIER ONE, EVIDENCE BASED STRATEGIES TO SUPPORT TWO THINGS WORD RECOGNITION AND LANGUAGE COMPREHENSION, THEN WE'LL SUPPORT ALL OUR STUDENTS IN BECOMING INDEPENDENT LEARNERS AND JOYFUL AND CONFIDENT READERS AND SO I WANT TO KIND OF POINT OUT THE DIAGRAM ON THE LEFT DOWN BELOW THE PICTURE THERE, AND REALLY WHAT THIS SPEAKS TO IS THE TIER ONE AND YOU SEE THE LARGEST ARROW THE LARGEST [INAUDIBLE] WHATEVER YEAH THANK YOU TRIANGLE.

NOT A MATH PERSON.

THE LARGEST TRIANGLE I'M TRYING TO FIGURE OUT.

IT KIND OF LOOKS LIKE A BOAT, BUT THE LARGEST TRIANGLE IS TIER ONE, MEANING ALL OUR STUDENTS GET THAT, AND THEN YOU SEE TIER TWO.

SOME STUDENTS GET THAT AND THEN TIER THREE, SOME STUDENTS GET THAT, BUT THE KEY TO THIS IS THAT ALL OUR STUDENTS RECEIVE TIER ONE AND THAT'S THE MOST IMPORTANT THING, AND SO WITH THAT, I'M GOING TO TURN IT OVER TO DR.

SORK, WHO'S GOING TO TALK ABOUT THE READING TIERED FIDELITY INVENTORY AND WHAT THAT PROCESS IS.

YOU'LL HEAR US SAY RTFI.

I'M SPELLING IT OUT FOR US RIGHT NOW.

IT'S THE READING TIERED FIDELITY INVENTORY AND WHAT THAT REALLY LOOKS LIKE.

SO MY SLIDES FOR DOROTHY FOX IS SOMETHING THAT SIMILARLY WE DID AT, AND WE JUST COULDN'T WAIT FOR A NEW ACRONYM, OF COURSE, TO COME, BUT THIS WAS A REALLY EXCITING PROCESS.

WE WEREN'T SURE GOING INTO IT, BUT THIS IS IT, THIS DOCUMENT THAT REALLY IS A TARGET THAT NOW WE ALL CAN LOOK FOR, AND IT'S A DESCRIPTION OF WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE WHEN YOU HAVE A SYSTEM THAT'S SUPPORTING NOT JUST POCKETS OF EXCELLENCE AND SO WE WERE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY.

SOME PEOPLE WENT, I THINK AS EARLY AS APRIL.

SOME FOLKS KIND OF WAITED TILL JUNE TO COME TOGETHER WITH DISTRICT LEADERS TO LOOK AT THIS IN DEPTH AND TO BE AUTHENTIC ABOUT IT AND TO BE HONEST ABOUT IT AND REALLY LOOK AT OUR PRACTICE, AND WE WERE ABLE TO BRING WITH US OTHER STAKEHOLDERS IN THE BUILDING, TEACHERS AT VARIOUS LEVELS, SPECIAL EDUCATION STAFF, OUR READING SPECIALISTS TO LOOK AT THIS AS A THIRD POINT AND REFLECT ON OUR PRACTICE.

HOW WELL DOES IT COMPARE TO WHAT THIS TARGET HAS BEEN FOR US AND THEMES THAT IT EXPRESSED? SO WE SPENT THE FIRST CHUNK OF IT ON THE TIER ONE LEVEL OF MTSS.

SO IT TALKED ABOUT THINGS LIKE SHARED LEADERSHIP TEAMS IN YOUR BUILDING, ACCESS TO COACHING AS A BEST PRACTICE, YOUR TIER ONE ASSESSMENT SYSTEM THAT'S FOR EVERYONE, AND SO IT REALLY GAVE US A HALF DAY TO DIG DEEP INTO THOSE THINGS AND REALLY TALK ABOUT WHAT DOES THAT LOOK LIKE FOR EVERY KID AT OUR SCHOOL? AND THEN WE HAD TO SCORE IT AT TWO, ONE, AND ZERO.

TWO WOULD MEAN IT WOULD BE FULLY IMPLEMENTED.

WE FEEL LIKE, YEAH, WE COULD SEE ALL OF THOSE THINGS HAPPENING NOW.

ONE MEANS ABOUT HALF OR MAYBE ABOUT HALF OF THESE THINGS WE CAN SEE, AND THEN A ZERO WOULD MEAN WE'RE NOT THERE YET AND IT WAS A REAL SAFE PLACE TO BE HONEST ABOUT HOW WE REALLY SEE THIS OVER HERE, BUT MAYBE IT'S NOT SOMETHING THAT WE CAN SAY AS AN ENTIRE SYSTEM YET, AND SO EACH TEAM ENDED THAT KIND OF DISCUSSION WITH ALL THESE MULTI PERSPECTIVES WITH A ONE PAGE SORT OF PLAN OF WHAT WE'RE GOING TO DO TO ALIGN OUR SYSTEMS MORE. SO WHAT WAS AMAZING ABOUT THIS IS IT PAINTED A TARGET THAT BROUGHT MY SCHOOL TOGETHER, BUT NOW ALL OF THE ELEMENTARIES ARE ALL POINTED AT THE SAME TARGET. SO IT REALLY CREATED A ROADMAP AS WE WERE CREATING OUR PLANS THIS YEAR ABOUT WHAT STEPS WE WOULD TAKE TO HELP US GET.

[00:10:04]

OKAY, SO THE NEXT SLIDE.

GOING BACK TO ESSENTIALLY SLIDE THREE THAT TALKED ABOUT OUR PROBLEM OF PRACTICE THEORY OF ACTION, BUT THAT THE GOAL AROUND EQUITABLE ACCESS.

SO DATA DATA CONFIRMS THE NEEDS FOR THIS FOCUS, AND THE MEASURES THAT WE'RE GOING TO LOOK AT FOR DATA TONIGHT ARE THE SMARTER BALANCED ELA RESULTS AND THEN OUR DIBELS BENCHMARK ASSESSMENTS.

SO THE LINK THAT SAYS FOUND HERE WAS THE ANALYSIS OF THE DATA, AND THEN WE'LL GIVE YOU SOME OF THE SUMMARY POINTS FROM THAT.

SO THIS IS OUR SMARTER BALANCE FROM SPRING OF 2023, AND YOU CAN SEE OUR PERCENTAGES FOR THIRD, FOURTH AND FIFTH GRADE, AND THEN COMPARE THAT TO OUR STATE PERCENTAGES IN TERMS OF ELA.

CAN I ASK A QUICK QUESTION? DO WE GET OUR THE SCORES BEFORE SCHOOL IS OUT IN THE SPRING? OKAY.

SO WE CAN TARGET KIDS FOR SUMMER SCHOOL AND INTERVENTIONS.

SO YES AND NO.

SO WE GET THE RESULTS AS THEY'RE SCORED, AND SO IT DEPENDS ON WHEN SCHOOLS TEST.

SO BECAUSE THE WINDOW IS WIDE, THE LATER WE TEST, THE LESS LIKELY THAT WE HAVE ALL OF THE RESULTS BY THE END.

THEY'RE ALSO CONSIDERED PRELIMINARY RESULTS UNTIL WE GET THE FINAL RESULTS IN IN MAY.

SO FOR SUMMER SCHOOL, PARTICULARLY FOR ELEMENTARY STUDENTS, WE ARE USING DIBELS A LOT, RIGHT? AND ALSO WE CAN TALK ABOUT THIS LATER, BUT THERE'S A THIRD GRADE READING PLAN REQUIREMENT THAT'S IN PLACE BY LAW THAT ALSO CONNECTS TO SMARTER BALANCED, AND THERE'S SOME WAYS THAT WE GO BACK AND SCOOP FOR ANY STUDENTS THAT WE MAY HAVE MISSED BECAUSE OF A PROFICIENCY SCORE THAT WE DIDN'T ANTICIPATE EITHER MORE POSITIVE OR LESS POSITIVE, AND THEN WE HONED IN ON TWO OF OUR GROUPS OF STUDENTS.

SO ON THE TOP YOU SEE STUDENTS THAT ARE EXPERIENCING POVERTY IN THE FIRST ONE ARE LOW INCOME, AND YOU CAN SEE THE PERCENTAGES OF STUDENTS WHO HAVE PASSED THIS SPRING ELA AND THEN YOU CAN SEE OUR SECOND GROUP, OUR STUDENTS WITH WITH DISABILITIES, AND SO WHEN YOU SEE THOSE TWO SLIDES, YOU CAN SEE THAT THE DATA SHOWS OUR STUDENTS EXPERIENCING POVERTY AND STUDENTS ON IEPS ARE NOT MAKING THE SAME GROWTH AS THOSE NOT EXPERIENCING POVERTY OR SERVED WITH AN IEP AND THEN IF WE GO DOWN TO THE NEXT TWO SLIDES, WHICH IS LOOKING AT OUR DIBELS DATA AND AGAIN WE ARE LOOKING AT STUDENTS SERVED WITH IEPS IN THIS FIRST SLIDE AND THIS IS CALLED A CORRELATION REPORT, AND WE'RE COMPARING TWO POINTS IN TIME.

THE TOP WHERE THERE'S A NUMBER ONE ON THAT LEFT SIDE ON A CIRCLE SAID THAT AT THE BEGINNING OF LAST YEAR, 172 STUDENTS.

SCORED WELL BELOW.

THAT'S THE TOP PART THAT WE COMPARED, AND THEN THE NUMBER TWO WITH THE CIRCLE ON THE LEFT IS NOW LOOKING AT THE DATA FROM THE END OF YEAR, AND SO OF THAT OF THOSE 172 STUDENTS.

80% OF THEM ARE STILL WELL BELOW.

13% HAVE MOVED TO BELOW, AND THEN THE OTHERS MOVING FROM WELL BELOW TO AT AND ABOVE, AND AGAIN, IF YOU GO, THEN THE NEXT COLUMN IS OUR STUDENTS BELOW BENCHMARK, AND AGAIN, TWO POINTS IN TIME, THE TOP NUMBER WAS THE BEGINNING OF YOUR COMPOSITE SCORE AND THEN YOU HAVE END OF YEAR COMPOSITE SCORE AND THEN YOU CAN SEE SOME STUDENTS, PERCENTAGE OF STUDENTS HAVE DIPPED TO WELL BELOW AND THEN SOME HAVE MADE GAINS TO AT AND ABOVE, AND THEN YOU CAN SEE THE DIFFERENCE WITH STUDENTS NOT SERVED WITH AN IEP IS THE BOTTOM.

SO WE USE THIS DATA TO SET A GOAL IN TERMS OF WANTING TO MAKE SURE OUR STUDENTS WHO ARE SERVED ON IEPS MOVE AT THE SAME RATE THAT OUR STUDENTS WHO ARE NOT SERVED WITH AN IEP AND IT ALSO SHOWS THAT IT DOES MATTER WHERE YOU STARTED THE YEAR.

MEANING OUR STUDENTS THAT SCORED WELL BELOW AND BELOW TENDED TO STAY WELL BELOW AND BELOW, AND THOSE THAT SCORED AT BENCHMARK AT THE BEGINNING OF YEAR AND ABOVE TEND TO STAY IN THOSE TWO GROUPINGS, AND THEN IF WE LOOK AT THE NEXT SLIDE, THIS IS STUDENTS EXPERIENCING POVERTY.

SO AGAIN, LOOKING AT THE TWO POINTS IN TIME, BEGINNING OF YEAR AND END OF YEAR, AND THEN USING THIS INFORMATION TO

[00:15:07]

AGAIN SET OUR GOAL AND CONNECT TO THE PROBLEM OF PRACTICE.

SO WITH THOSE SLIDES, REALLY IT SHOWS THAT THE FOCUS OF OUR POPTOA, OUR PROBLEM OF PRACTICE THEORY OF ACTION FROM AN EQUITY AND EQUITY PERSPECTIVE CONTINUES TO HIGHLIGHT OUR STUDENTS EXPERIENCING POVERTY AND OUR STUDENTS, OUR LEARNERS WITH DISABILITIES VALIDATES THAT WE DO HAVE OPPORTUNITY AND ACCESS GAPS FOR THOSE GROUPS OF STUDENTS, AND SO REALLY NEEDING TO MAKE SURE OUR TIER ONE INSTRUCTION, ALL STUDENTS HAVE EQUITABLE ACCESS TO TIER ONE AND SUPPORTS THAT MEET THEIR NEEDS.

SO WE WANTED TO START THAT WAY.

SO FIRST YOU SEE THE CONNECTION TO THE OVERALL STRATEGIC PLAN AND HOW IT BRINGS FORWARD THE WORK WE'VE DONE IN PAST YEARS ON A PROBLEM OF PRACTICE AND THEORY OF ACTION.

SO THIS WILL BE YEAR THREE OF OUR FOCUS IN ELEMENTARY ON EARLY LITERACY AND THEN TO SEE WHAT DATA WE'RE USING.

SO THAT WAS A QUESTION THE BOARD HAD ABOUT HOW CAN WE SEE AND USE MORE DATA AND WHAT WE WANT TO BE ABLE TO DO IS TO PROVIDE YOU WITH DATA THAT'S VERY SPECIFIC TO THE GOALS THAT WE HAVE AND ALSO TO HOW WE ARE HONING IN ON PARTICULAR GROUPS OF STUDENTS GIVEN THOSE OPPORTUNITY AND ACCESS GAPS.

I ALSO WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT WE CHOSE THESE MEASURES TODAY THAT ARE PART OF THE OVERALL REPORT, AND IF YOU CLICK THAT LINK, YOU HAVE ACCESS TO THE WHOLE ANALYSIS.

WE ALSO HAVE A SURVEY THAT WE USE THAT IS RELATED TO THE JOY OF LEARNING, BECAUSE WHILE WE WOULD LOVE OUR STUDENTS TO GET TO READ ON GRADE LEVEL AND THAT IS OUR GOAL TO DO SO, WE WANT THEM TO DO SO JOYFULLY.

WE WANT THEM TO BE ABLE TO TAKE PLEASURE AND PRIDE AND HAVE CONFIDENCE IN THEIR READING ABILITY.

SO THIS REALLY IS A FOCUS ON THE WHOLE CHILD AS WELL.

AS WE LOOK AT THE THE ACADEMIC FOCUS THAT WE HAVE FOR READING.

OKAY. HEY, LISA, JUST ONE LITTLE THING, JUST KIND OF A HOUSEKEEPING THING SO THAT LINK THAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT ON THE SLIDES THAT WERE SHARED WITH US, IT'S NOT WORKING, SO.

OH, IT ISN'T? NO, IT'S BECAUSE I THINK WE GOT KIND OF A PDF COPY, SO IF YOU COULD JUST EMAIL THAT LINK TO US OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

OKAY, YOU BETCHA. THANKS.

I'M GOING TO MAKE A NOTE BECAUSE OTHERWISE THANK YOU.

OTHERWISE I WILL FORGET.

DO THAT BEFORE WE LEAVE HERE TODAY.

SO WHAT WE REALLY WANT YOU TO HAVE TIME TO DO AND I KNOW THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT AS WELL, IS TO HEAR FROM OUR BUILDING LEADERS ON THIS WORK AND WHAT IT REALLY MEANS TO FOCUS ON LITERACY AND HOW THAT IS BOTH THE SAME AND DIFFERENT AT EACH OF OUR BUILDINGS, AND WE ALSO HEARD FROM YOU THAT YOU WERE MISSING HEARING FROM EVERY BUILDING, AND SO WE HAVE CHANGED THE PROTOCOL SOME SO THAT YOU WILL STILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO THAT, BUT RETAINING THE CONVERSATIONAL FOCUS OF THIS TIME, AND SO PRINCIPALS ARE ADDRESSING THIS QUESTION FOR YOU BASED ON THE READING TIERED FIDELITY INVENTORY PROCESS, WHAT ARE YOUR BUILDING'S KEY TAKEAWAYS AND NEXT STEPS? SO HOW WAS THAT PROCESS? AND THEN HOW HAS IT LED TO THE ACTION PLAN FOR THIS YEAR? AND THEN FROM A BOARD MEMBER PERSPECTIVE, AS YOU'RE LISTENING, MAKING CONNECTIONS BETWEEN WHAT PRINCIPALS ARE SHARING AND THE FIVE CONNECTIONS OF THE FIVE COMPONENTS OF A MULTI-TIERED SYSTEM OF SUPPORTS, AND SO AS AS ALWAYS, YOU HAVE A GRAPHIC ORGANIZER BECAUSE THAT'S HOW WE ROLL.

SO THAT YOU CAN YOU CAN SEE HOW HOW THIS WORK IS CONNECTING TO THAT BUILDING OF THAT VERY LARGE THING CALLED A MULTI-TIERED SYSTEM.

OKAY, AND SO WITH THAT, HERE'S WHAT WE'RE DOING IN ROUND ONE.

SO FIRST OF ALL, GRASS VALLEY, CLACKAMAS, WOODBURN LEADERS, YOU WILL BE HERE AND HELEN BALLER, DOROTHY FOX AND PRUNE HILL WILL BE BACK HERE.

OKAY. WE HAVE TWO CIRCLES SET UP.

WE'RE GOING TO SEPARATE THEM A LITTLE MORE SO THERE'S A LITTLE LESS NOISE IN BETWEEN BOARD MEMBERS.

YOU'RE GOING TO MOVE BETWEEN ROUND ONE AND ROUND TWO.

SO YOU CAN SEE THAT COREY AND TRACEY ARE WITH GRASS VALLEY, LACAMAS AND WOODBURN FOR THE FIRST 25 MINUTES, AND THEN WE WILL I'M A TIMEKEEPER.

DOUG IS A TIMEKEEPER, SO WE'LL LET YOU KNOW BECAUSE WE DO WANT TO MAKE SURE ALSO THERE'S SO MUCH TO SHARE, BUT WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU HEAR FROM EVERYBODY AND SO WE'LL GIVE YOU SOME TIME CUES ALONG THE WAY SO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH TIME YOU HAVE, AND THEN AGAIN, AFTER 25 MINUTES, WE WILL SWITCH.

BOARD MEMBERS WILL SWITCH GROUPS SO THAT YOU CAN HEAR FROM THE OTHER SET OF OF BUILDING LEADERS AS WELL.

OKAY, AND THEN WE'LL COME BACK FOR HOW IS THIS WORKING ALSO AT A DISTRICT LEVEL IN TERMS OF PLANNING AND THEN WHAT YOU HEARD AND JUST LIKE WE'VE

[00:20:06]

DONE BEFORE, SOME OF THE THE THINGS YOU NOTICE, THE CONNECTIONS THAT YOU MADE TO A MULTI-TIERED SYSTEM AND QUESTIONS THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE.

OKAY. SO BEFORE WE START, DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS THAT I CAN ANSWER? ALL RIGHT, THEN. OKAY, EVERYBODY GO.

YOU'RE GOING TO LOOK AT THAT.

OKAY. WELL, THAT WAS FUN.

THAT WAS SO GREAT.

I KNOW. THANK YOU FOR ALL THE SHARING BY OUR BUILDING TEAMS AND THEN WE WANT TO GO.

OOPS. OKAY.

I DID CHECK TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE ACCESS TO THE LINK IN THE SLIDE AND THE LINK TAKES YOU TO OUR DISTRICT ACTION STEPS.

SO LISA, MYSELF AND CHERIE WERE PART OF EACH BUILDING'S RTFI PROCESS, AND AFTER THE PROCESS WE GOT TOGETHER AND WE LOOKED AT WHICH RTI ITEMS. RECEIVED OR NEED THAT DISTRICT LEVEL SUPPORT, AND WHEN WE SAY DISTRICT LEVEL SUPPORT, WE'RE TALKING ABOUT LEADERS, LITERACY, TEACHER LEADERS THAT ARE IN EVERY BUILDING. BROOK, OUR COACH, MYSELF, LISA, DOUG INTERVENTIONISTS WE'RE ALL THE DISTRICT IN TERMS OF THE SUPPORTS THAT WE WANT TO DO IT OUTSIDE OF A BUILDING LEVEL AND THEN SUPPORT IN THE BUILDING.

SO THERE'S THE MAIN ONES ARE IDENTIFIED, BUT FOCUS ON ASSESSMENT IS ONE OF THOSE KEY AREAS.

SO ASSESSMENT OF TIER ONE, AND THEN YOU HEARD A LOT ABOUT PROGRESS MONITORING, AND OUR DISTRICT, OUR FIRST DISTRICT DIRECTED EARLY RELEASE WAS LAST WEDNESDAY AND EVERY BUILDING PARTICIPATED IN LEARNING THAT WAS A COMMON PROTOCOL.

WE LOOKED AT, REVIEWED THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF ASSESSMENT AND PURPOSE, AND THEN THEY HAD TIME TO LOOK AT THE DATA AND DO SOME PLANNING FOR TIER ONE AND TIER TWO INSTRUCTION. SO THAT WAS A CONSISTENT PIECE THAT IS PART OF STRENGTHENING THAT TIER ONE ASSESSMENT SYSTEM.

THE OTHER ITEM IS 1.16, WHICH IS PROFESSIONAL LEARNING GEARED TOWARDS THE SCIENCE OF READING, AND SO THE LETTERS IS BEING IS ONE OF THOSE WE SHARE ON DEMAND.

WE KNOW THAT PEOPLE STILL LIKE THAT OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN AT HOME WHILE THEY'RE SITTING AND WE PUSH OUT SOME ON DEMAND.

JUST PUSHED OUT A LUNCH AND LEARN THAT CONNECTED SOME LEARNING TO OUR HEGARTY RESOURCE, WHICH IS WHAT WE USE TO TEACH PHONEMIC AWARENESS.

THE STRUCTURED LITERACY KITS THAT YOU HEARD ABOUT TONIGHT PROFESSIONAL LEARNING THAT SUPPORTS THAT BRIDGE TO PRACTICE.

SO BEING IN THE LETTERS, LEARNING AND GOING BACK TO THEIR CLASSROOM AND THEN WHAT SUPPORTS DO THEY DO? WE PROVIDE THAT BUILDS IN ALL THE PEOPLE, THE INTERVENTIONISTS, THE LEADERS, LITERACY LEADERS, AND THEN THE OTHER PART IS ALSO THEN GEARED TOWARDS THE OTHER ITEM IS AROUND IMPLEMENTATION SUPPORTS FOR TIER TWO.

SO WE KNOW TIER TWO IS SO IMPORTANT IN THE CLASSROOM AND SO HOW DO WE CONTINUE TO PROVIDE SUPPORT AT A BIGGER LEVEL? SO THINKING ABOUT HELEN BALLER TALKED ABOUT THEIR READING INTERVENTIONISTS, THEIR RESOURCE TEACHER TEACHING AT THE SAME TIME WHERE TEACHERS HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN FROM THAT, THOSE LITTLE 15 MINUTES POP INS AT DOROTHY FOX, THOSE ARE ALL DISTRICT LEVEL.

I MEAN, THOSE ARE THOSE SUPPORTS THAT HAVE REALLY CONNECTED TO THE ITEMS THAT WE CHOSE TO CONTINUE TO SUPPORT AT A BIGGER LEVEL.

SO GOING BACK TO A MULTI-TIERED SYSTEM OF SUPPORTS.

OKAY, BEFORE WE GET TO THIS PART, I WANT TO RECOGNIZE THE WORK OF JEN SCOTT AND BROOKE HANSON HERE AS WELL, AND THEN MELISSA BUTLER.

THEY HAVE JUST DONE AMAZING WORK WITH OUR BUILDINGS, AND THIS THIS WHAT YOU HEARD TONIGHT.

THIS WOULD NOT BE HAPPENING IF YOU DON'T HAVE PEOPLE THAT ARE ENTRENCHED IN THE WORK AND REALLY MAKING IT LIVE.

RIGHT. IT'S A LIVE THING.

I ALSO WANT TO RECOGNIZE OUR PRINCIPALS.

THESE ARE TRULY LEARNING LEADERS.

I MEAN, FOR THOSE OF US THAT GET TO WORK WITH PRINCIPALS DIRECTLY, THESE ARE LEARNING LEADERS, AS YOU COULD JUST HEAR FROM.

THEY KNOW SO MUCH ABOUT THIS AND THEIR STUDENTS AND THEIR STAFF AND WHAT IT'S REALLY GOING TO TAKE TO MAKE SURE THAT ALL OUR STUDENTS ARE READING AT GRADE LEVEL AND JOYFUL ABOUT IT. THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN WITHOUT A LEARNING LEADER RUNNING THE BUILDING, AND THAT'S NOT AN EASY THING.

THERE'S A LOT OF THINGS THAT INTERRUPT THEIR DAY AND THAT THEY NEED TO ATTEND TO, AND WE KNOW THAT, BUT I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE WE RECOGNIZE OUR PRINCIPALS ALONG WITH JEN, BROOKE AND MELISSA. SO YOU HEARD A LOT TODAY OR TONIGHT, THIS EVENING, AND THERE'S A LOT TO PROCESS.

I KNOW YOU WERE ASKING QUESTIONS DURING DURING THAT TIME, WHICH IS GREAT.

WHAT CONNECTIONS DID YOU MAKE ARE REALLY THE PROMPTS AND THEN WHAT QUESTIONS DO YOU HAVE?

[00:25:04]

AND I'M JUST GOING TO OPEN IT UP TO THE FLOOR AND FIRE AWAY.

WE'VE GOT OUR EXPERTS HERE AND HERE.

HERE. SO.

I ALWAYS APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU ALL TO LISTEN TO EACH OTHER.

I JUST GET THE SENSE THAT THERE'S JUST NEVER ENOUGH TIME FOR THAT AND YOU ALL GLEAN SUCH VALUABLE INSIGHTS, AND IT'S SPARKS AND YOU CAN JUST SEE THAT, AND SO I APPRECIATE THAT FOR YOU.

I ALSO JUST WANT TO SAY AND THAT I APPRECIATE THE LONGEVITY OF EACH OF YOU IN YOUR PROFESSIONS THAT WE HAVE HERE.

I MEAN, I WAS JUST THINKING ABOUT IT LIKE IT'S NORMAL TO HAVE TURNOVER AND YOU ALL HAVE BEEN HERE FOR SO LONG.

YOU'RE STEEPED IN HISTORY AND OF THESE POPTOAS AND HISTORY WITH CAMAS EDUCATION.

SO I APPRECIATE THAT I MEAN, EVEN AARON, YOU'VE COME BACK, RIGHT? SO YOU ARE INCLUDED IN THAT.

I MEAN, TRULY, THAT MEANS A LOT FOR YOU TO BE ABLE TO MOVE THE BAR WITH EACH OF YOUR BUILDINGS, AND I THINK SOMETHING THAT STOOD OUT, ESPECIALLY TO ME, WAS THE HUMILITY IN ASSESSING YOUR BUILDINGS ACCURATELY IN ORDER TO HELP MOVE THAT BAR, BUT ALSO TO MAKE SURE THAT THE SPIRIT AND ENCOURAGEMENT WITH YOUR STAFF IS WELL TAKEN CARE OF AT THE SAME TIME.

RIGHT. THERE'S SUCH OPPORTUNITY, AND I THINK SOMETIMES IT CAN BE OVERWHELMING, BUT I REALLY APPRECIATE THAT ABILITY TO SELF-ASSESS ACCURATELY SO THAT BAR CAN BE MOVED.

I WOULD JUST KIND OF SOMETHING SPARKED WITH ME WHERE WHAT YOU WERE JUST TALKING ABOUT WITH JUST THE FACT I HEARD I HEARD TONIGHT A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT TIMES IN BOTH THE GROUPS THAT TEACHING IS HARD AND IT'S THERE'S A LOT OF THERE'S A LOT MORE THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN ADDED ON THE PLATE IN RECENT YEARS, AND I JUST REALLY APPRECIATE THAT GOING THROUGH THIS PROCESS.

IT REALLY FEELS LIKE EVERYBODY IS SETTING UP A PROCESS IN THEIR BUILDING WHERE IT'S OKAY FOR TEACHERS TO TAKE RISKS.

IT'S OKAY FOR YOU TO TRY AS MUCH OR AS LITTLE AS YOU'RE COMFORTABLE WITH, AND I THINK THAT JUST KIND OF OPENING IT UP TO LETTING PEOPLE TAKE THAT RISK AND TRY DIFFERENT THINGS.

I LOVE THE LITTLE LITERACY POP INS THAT WE HEARD ABOUT FOR FOR DOROTHY FOX JUST BEING ABLE TO JUST SEE A LITTLE BIT OF IT AND THE FACT THAT ALL OF YOU ARE WILLING TO COVER SOMEBODY'S CLASSROOM FOR 15 MINUTES OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, LIKE YOU'RE IN THE TRENCHES WITH THEM, AND SO I JUST I REALLY APPRECIATE THAT AS A TEACHER, I REALLY APPRECIATE THAT.

I FEEL LIKE I WOULD WANT TO I WOULD I WOULD BE MORE APT TO BUY INTO A LOT OF THIS AND TO TRY A LOT OF THAT BECAUSE OF THE ATMOSPHERE THAT YOU'RE CREATING.

SO I KIND OF WOULD AGREE WITH THAT TOO, AND I LOVED WHEN IT WAS THE TOOLKITS ARE NO PRESSURE TOOLKITS, BUT THEY'RE HERE WHEN YOU NEED THEM, RIGHT? SO YOU CAN TAKE IT.

WE WANT YOU TO TAKE A RISK, BUT YOU'RE NOT FORCING YOU TO TAKE A RISK.

RIGHT? SO I LOVE THAT.

GOSH, I LEARNED SO MUCH AT THESE THINGS ALWAYS, AND I LOVE--COREY, AND I TALKED A LITTLE BIT ABOUT HOW WE MAKE THAT CONNECTION.

LIKE WHEN WE DO OUR SITE VISITS, ALL THIS REALLY HELPS, HELPS WHEN WE DO THEM BECAUSE WE CAN MAKE THOSE CONNECTIONS OURSELVES AND SEE THE TOOL KITS IN ACTION AND SEE WHAT'S HAPPENING, AND SO IT'S REALLY VALUABLE FOR US AS A BOARD TO HEAR FROM YOU GUYS AND THEN TO GO INTO THE CLASSROOMS AND SEE THAT OURSELVES.

THAT'S SOMETHING I ALWAYS ENJOY.

I ALSO HEARD A LOT ABOUT THE PLCS AND THE PLANNING TIMES AND HOW APPRECIATIVE YOU ARE OF THE WEDNESDAYS AND HOW THAT AND ME REALIZING I'M NOT A TEACHER, BUT THAT 30 MINUTES THAT YOU GUYS HAVE IS SHORT, RIGHT? IT'S MORE THAN 30 MINUTES BY THE TIME YOU GET DOWN TO IT, RIGHT? THERE ISN'T A LOT OF TIME AND THERE'S SO MUCH THAT GOES ON IN THERE, AND SO JUST APPRECIATE THE PLANNING THAT GOES INTO THAT TO MAKE THOSE AS SUCCESSFUL AS THEY CAN FOR THE AMOUNT OF TIME YOU HAVE AND THE EXTRA THE WEDNESDAYS YOU GUYS TALKED ABOUT TOO, HOW IMPORTANT THOSE ARE.

SO I'M ALWAYS HAPPY TO HEAR HOW THOSE THINGS ARE GOING.

SO THANK YOU GUYS FOR BEING HERE.

YEAH, TO JUMP ON THAT AGAIN, I REALLY APPRECIATE WHEN WE GO BECAUSE WE HAVE SITE VISITS COMING UP HERE IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS, WE'RE GOING TO START GETTING BACK INTO THAT.

IT'S GREAT TO BE ABLE TO GO TO YOUR BUILDINGS AND BE ABLE TO SEE THAT IN ACTION AND KNOW THAT'S WHAT WE'RE GOING INTO AS OPPOSED TO IT.

WHAT DO YOU WHAT DO YOU WANT TO SEE? YOU KNOW, SO IT'S REALLY NICE TO AS BOARD MEMBERS, IT'S NICE TO BE ABLE TO GO IN THERE WITH THAT ACTION, THAT ACTION PLAN IN MIND.

HE CAN'T SEE EVERYONE, BUT I JUST WANTED TO SAY HOW MUCH I APPRECIATE ALL THE WORK THAT YOU ALL DO.

[00:30:03]

I CAN'T IMAGINE.

I MEAN, LISTENING TO ALL OF YOU, I'M LIKE, I KNOW HOW YOU ARE ABLE TO BALANCE SO MUCH AND GIVEN ONE DAY WISHING FOR MORE TIME FOR YOU. I WAS WISHING MORE FOR ME TO HAVE MORE ONE ON ONE TIME TO SEE WHAT YOU ALL DO.

I WAS ONE OF THOSE PARENTS THAT AUCTIONED PUT IN MONEY AT AN AUCTION AT PRUNE HILL.

FOR MY KID TO HAVE A DAY WITH THE PRINCIPAL, I WOULD DO ANYTHING TO DO THAT TODAY FOR MYSELF.

THERE YOU GO, AND, AND I THINK I MAY HAVE MISSED IT ON MY THIRD CHILD.

OH, NO, ACTUALLY, SHE DID. SHE SPENT THE DAY WITH MISS SWAN, SO I WILL DO ANYTHING TO HAVE THAT, JUST TO LEARN A BIT MORE AND MORE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVEN'T BEEN IN EDUCATION AT THE LEVEL YOU ARE ALL AT.

YOU DON'T KNOW.

I THINK BACK TO THE TIME I'VE GONE TO LISA AND ASKED HER, WHY CAN'T WE DO THIS? WHY CAN'T WE HAVE THAT? AND YOU KNOW, HER ANSWERS WERE ALWAYS GREAT, BUT THEN I WAS LIKE, OKAY, NOW I GET IT.

I GET IT.

SO THE CONNECTIONS THAT YOU GUYS HAVE WITH ALL YOUR TEACHERS, THE HONEST OPEN, THE CREATIVENESS AND I LOVE, I THINK, LEARNING LEADERS, I LOVE THAT TITLE. SO I'VE ENJOYED ALL OF THIS AND I THINK I DO PERSONALLY WANT TO BE MORE A PART OF THIS LITERACY PIECE BECAUSE IT KIND OF BRINGS BACK TO MY UPBRINGING AND WHAT I HAD EXPERIENCED AS A TEN YEAR OLD THAT KNEW NOTHING MORE THAN THE ABCS.

SO I'D WISH THAT I'D HAD ALL THAT YOU ARE ALL TRYING TO OFFER TODAY.

THAT'S WHY I ASKED IF THOSE KITS WERE AVAILABLE TO ALL, BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE, I DON'T KNOW, LIKE MY COUSINS HAD THINGS THAT I DIDN'T HAVE BECAUSE THEY WERE YOUNGER.

I WAS THE SUCKER WHO WAS TEN YEARS OLD.

EVERYBODY WAS ONE YEAR OLD.

SO I JUST WANT TO BE ABLE TO HAVE ALL THAT AVAILABLE TO EVERYONE AND NOT FOR ONE TO WISH THEY WERE AT ONE SCHOOL OR THE OTHER.

SO EVERYTHING.

THANK YOU. APPRECIATE IT.

DITTO. DITTO.

DITTO. DITTO. I AM IMPRESSED WITH JUST THE EXCITEMENT THAT YOU GUYS.

IT'S CONTAGIOUS AND THAT YOU'RE YOU'RE EXCITED BECAUSE YOU SEE YOU'RE SEEING THE RESULTS RIGHT AND IT'S MAKING A DIFFERENCE, AND YOU KNOW, WHAT WE'RE ALL WORKING ON IS GOOD FOR KIDS.

RIGHT? AND I WISH SOME OF THE THINGS THAT I WROTE DOWN.

SO TIME TIME IS SO PRECIOUS WE DON'T HAVE MUCH OF IT.

DO WE NEED TO RELOOK AT HOW WE SPEND OUR TIME IN A SCHOOL SYSTEM? RIGHT. I MEAN, THIS IS LIKE FOR NOT FOR TOMORROW, BUT LIKE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TIME AND HOW MUCH TIME LEADERSHIP TEAMS HAVE TO MEET AND HOW THAT IS SO VALUABLE AND IMPORTANT AND WILL DRIVE BETTER TEACHING AND BETTER EXPERIENCES FOR KIDS, AND SO THAT'S JUST SOMETHING.

PUT THAT IN THE PARKING LOT.

LET ME WRITE THAT DOWN. NO, I WAS SORRY TO JUST KEEP JUMPING IN ON EVERYBODY'S HERE, BUT IT KIND OF MADE ME THINK A LOT.

WE WERE TALKING ABOUT ATTENDANCE AND HOW IMPORTANT ATTENDANCE IS AND THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF FAMILIES WHO THEY'LL BE OUT ON VACATION DURING THE YEAR AND STUFF LIKE THAT, AND IT MADE ME THINK A LOT MORE ABOUT OUR BALANCED CALENDAR THAT MAYBE MAYBE GOING MORE SO THAT WE BUILD IN MORE OF THOSE VACATIONS, MORE OF THOSE THOSE TIME OFF THAT MAYBE THAT WOULD BE SOMETHING THAT WOULD HELP WITH WITH OUR ATTENDANCE OVERALL.

SO AND ALSO, I'M STRUGGLING IN MY MIND TO THINK, OKAY, THERE'S RTFI AND THAT'S 1.6. A B MAP AND PROCESS AND SYSTEM.

AND THEN MTSS IS HOW DO THE PUZZLE PIECES FIT TOGETHER? WHAT IS THAT PICTURE OR THAT GRAPHIC THAT HAS WHAT RTFI IS WHAT MTSS IS IN THERE, HOW THE LETTERS IS THE LETTERS, THE SCIENCE OF READING THAT YOU'RE LEARNING TO TEACH YOUR KIDS AND JUST KIND OF UNDERSTANDING HOW THAT ALL WORKS TOGETHER I MEAN IT'S VERY COMPLICATED, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU DON'T WORK IN IT EVER, BUT IT WOULD BE NICE TO BE ABLE TO PUT TO SEE THAT PICTURE AND HOW EVERYTHING FITS TOGETHER AND WHAT THAT MAP IS JUST SO I CAN BETTER UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENT PIECES, AND WE NEED TO INVEST MORE IN LETTERS TRAINING. OKAY? THAT'S THIS PIECE OF IT.

WE NEED THIS SO WE CAN DO THIS, SO WE CAN DO THIS TYPE OF THING.

SO LIKE YOU SAID, LIKE WE HEAR ALL THESE WE SEE THE SPARKS HAPPENING BETWEEN YOU GUYS AND PLANT SEEDS IN OUR MIND AND JUST M AKING SURE THAT WE KNOW WHAT WE'RE DOING HERE.

OUR STRATEGIC PLAN, WHAT WE'RE DOING HERE, FEEDS RIGHT IN SO THAT WE KNOW WHAT TO FUND BASED ON THESE IMPORTANT THINGS THAT THE DIRECTIONS THAT WE'RE GOING.

[00:35:04]

THAT WAS ALL OVER THE BOARD, BUT THAT'S IT.

[CHUCKLING] I ALSO KIND OF THINK LIKE WHAT WE HEARD THERE WERE SIMILARITIES IN NEEDS OR HAVEN'T HIT THIS ONE QUITE YET.

WE HAVEN'T FIGURED THAT ONE OUT, BUT BUT THERE WERE ALSO DISSIMILARITIES IN THE SAME WAY OF MAYBE YOU KNOW, IT'S NOT ALWAYS SUCH ALWAYS A BUILDING PROBLEM OF ASKING HOW AT THE DISTRICT LEVEL OR ESD LEVEL LIKE WHAT HELPS AND WHAT STRUCTURE SUPPORT CAN YOU RECEIVE TO TACKLE THAT 1.2 THAT HASN'T QUITE HAPPENED OR I MEAN WE TALKED ABOUT IN OUR LAST GROUP LIKE FAMILY ENGAGEMENT THE COMMUNICATION PIECE, IT DOESN'T HAVE TO FALL TO EACH BUILDING. IT COULD COME BACK AND A UNIVERSAL COMMUNICATION BECAUSE WE'RE DOING SIMILAR THINGS OR ALL THE SAME THING AT EACH BUILDING HOW DO YOU ENGAGE THE DISTRICT, RIGHT? I MEAN, JUST LIKE WHEN YOU SERVE ON CAC AND YOU CAN LEARN ABOUT DIFFERENT LEVELS, DIFFERENT YOU KNOW, I MIGHT HAVE AN ELEMENTARY STUDENT, BUT I'M LEARNING ABOUT WHAT IS HAPPENING AT THE SECONDARY. I THINK IT BEHOOVES THE COMMUNITY TO UNDERSTAND WHAT ELEMENTARY KIDS ARE LEARNING AND HEAR WHAT WE HEARD TONIGHT ABOUT OUR FIFTH GRADERS AND HOW OUR FIRST GRADERS ARE ROCKING IT LIKE AND WHAT WE PLAN TO SEE, WHAT WE THINK WE MIGHT SEE AND WHAT ALL OF THOSE STRUCTURES LOOK LIKE.

SO IT'S BRAINSTORMING, AND I THINK WE NEED TO FIGURE OUT LIKE HOW WE CAN HELP WIDER EVERY SCHOOL, AND THEN I THINK BASED ON WHAT YOU JUST SAID, THEN, WHAT ABOUT WHEN OUR FIFTH GRADERS GO TO SIXTH GRADE? YEAH. IT'S A TOTALLY DIFFERENT WORLD, AND THEN THOSE EIGHTH GRADERS GO INTO HIGH SCHOOL AND I'M LIKE, WHAT? WHAT? WHAT HAPPENED TO THE STRUCTURES AND THE VOCABULARY AND STUFF AND LIKE, FIGURING OUT HOW THIS MOVES THROUGH OUR SYSTEM WITH OUR KIDS AND HOW THAT INFORMS WHAT WE DO AT THE DIFFERENT LEVELS.

BECAUSE I DO. SORRY.

WE'RE GOING TO BE HERE ALL NIGHT.

[CHUCKLING] BECAUSE I DO FEEL LIKE SOMETIMES I SIT HERE WHEN WE SIT.

WE DID THIS LAST YEAR WITH THIS POPTOA.

I KIND OF FELT LIKE, DUH, WHY DIDN'T WE ALL GET ON? AND SO NOW THE SECONDARY LEVEL IS LIKE, WELL, WHY AREN'T WE ALL LIKE, WHY IS IT SO DISMEMBERED? RIGHT? LIKE, BECAUSE YOU GUYS ALL JUST LEARN SO MUCH FROM EACH OTHER, AND AS, AS LEADERSHIP TOO, IT JUST MAKES YOU GO.

I WAS GOING TO ADD THE UDL.

THEN WHERE DOES UDL FALL INTO THIS TOO? EACH ONE OF THESE ARE, BUT HOW THEY FIT TOGETHER.

I MEAN, IF YOU'RE JUST YOU'RE THINKING OF THESE THINGS AND YOU'RE LIKE, OH, MY GOD, AND THEN HERE'S THIS THING AND THIS THING, AND BUT WHEN WE CAN HAVE THIS LITTLE PUZZLE IN MY OFFICE ALL THE LITTLE PIECES AND WHEN YOU PUT IT ALL TOGETHER, IT'S A BALL, AND IT'S LIKE SOMETIMES IT'S LIKE THERE'S NO WAY THESE GO TOGETHER.

THAT GRAPHIC MIGHT BE IN OUR STRATEGIC PLAN.

YES, BUT ONCE YOU CAN SEE IT.

[INAUDIBLE] YEAH THE SPECIFIC EXAMPLES.

I EVEN MENTIONED IN OUR FIRST GROUP LIKE, HEY, CAN WE JUST, I JUST NEED AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT A TIER ONE INTERVENTION IS, YOU KNOW? SO SOMETIMES I THINK THAT BECAUSE WE ALL I MEAN, I'M GUILTY OF IT, TOO.

WE'RE GUILTY OF IT BEING IN THE EDUCATION.

WE JUST GET ALL OF THESE ACRONYMS. THAT'S WHY BRINGING BAMINI ON BOARD HAS BEEN SO NICE BECAUSE WE LIKE STOP AND HAVE TO EXPLAIN LIKE, OH, THAT'S WHAT THIS ACRONYM MEANS.

YEAH, AND SO YEAH, I THINK REALLY JUST STOPPING AND FIGURING OUT WAYS THAT WE CAN EXPLAIN THAT AND SHARE THAT OUT MORE, BUT AS ALWAYS, WALK AWAY TOTALLY HUMBLED AND IMPRESSED WITH THE QUALITY THAT YOU GUYS ALL BRING TO THE DISTRICT AND THE GREAT WORK THAT YOU'RE DOING AND THE LEADERS THAT YOU ARE. WE'RE REALLY LUCKY.

OUR COMMUNITY IS REALLY LUCKY TO HAVE YOU GUYS AND ALL YOUR STAFF.

SO COREY, IF I CAN JUST WRAP UP BECAUSE I KNOW MR. PARMAN NEEDS TO GET TO THE PACKERS GAME.

WOW. [CHUCKLING] LOOKING OUT FOR YOU.

JUST A COUPLE OF THINGS.

FIRST OF ALL, AGAIN, THANK YOU TO OUR BUILDING LEADERS.

SO I'M PART OF A NATIONAL SUPERINTENDENT NETWORK AND SHARING SOME OF THIS WORK WITH THEM LAST WEEK OR TWO WEEKS AGO, AND THEY'RE BLOWN AWAY BY

[00:40:01]

THIS ALIGNMENT BETWEEN OUR BUILDINGS AND OUR BOARD AND YOUR INTEREST AND YOUR PASSION IN LEARNING THIS.

THIS IS NOT THE NORM.

I'LL TELL YOU THAT. IT'S NOT THE NORM NATIONWIDE FOR YOU TO BE SO HONED IN ON THE INSTRUCTIONAL MODEL AND THE LEARNING THAT'S HAPPENING IN OUR SCHOOLS.

SO THANK YOU FOR THAT, AND I KNOW THAT'S BEEN A TRADITION THAT WE NEED TO KEEP BUILDING UPON.

ALSO, TO LISA AND JEN AND THE TEAM ALLISON, EVERYONE THAT'S HERE WHO HAS HELPED PUT THIS TOGETHER, BUT I WANT TO THANK DOUG ALSO BECAUSE MENTIONED MULTIPLE TIMES AS THE TIME THAT WAS BUILT IN THROUGH THE CONTRACT.

DOUG, THANK YOU FOR THE TIME YOU PUT IN WITH MARCI AND THE TEAM LISTENING TO THE BUILDING LEADERS ON NEEDING THAT.

YOU PUT IN A TON OF HOURS DURING BARGAINING TO GET THAT IN THERE, AND A LOT OF THAT WAS YOUR LEADERSHIP.

SO THANK YOU.

I THINK I THINK IT'S BEING HEARD LOUD AND CLEAR HOW IMPORTANT THAT WAS ALSO AT THE SECONDARY LEVEL, BUT FOR TONIGHT'S SAKE, THE ELEMENTARY LEVEL, I ALSO HEARD A COUPLE OF THINGS A LOT TONIGHT.

TIER ONE, THE IMPORTANCE OF JUST GOOD, SOLID TIER ONE TEACHING AND INTERVENTIONS, TO YOUR POINT, COREY AND ALSO THE WORK AROUND PLCS.

SO THANK YOU AGAIN THAT'S NOT EASY WORK.

ALIGNING THAT AT EACH GRADE LEVEL, AT EACH SCHOOL IS A CHALLENGE FROM A PRINCIPAL STANDPOINT.

KUDOS TO YOU FOR THE WORK YOU'RE PUTTING INTO THAT, AND THEN ERIKA, YOU MENTIONED THIS A LITTLE BIT IS THE CONSISTENCY AMONGST THE BUILDINGS.

I THINK THAT THE WORK WE'RE DOING WITH THE ITK PROGRAM, BUT ALSO OVER AT HLC AND PAPERMAKER, WE'RE REALLY TRYING TO REACH BACK INTO EARLY LEARNING AND GETTING THOSE INSTRUCTORS AND THOSE LEADERS ON BOARD WITH WHAT WE'RE DOING, BUT I THINK, CONNIE, YOU MENTIONED SECONDARY LEVEL AND HOW WE NEED TO CONTINUE TO REACH FORWARD AND MAKE SURE THAT OUR STUDENTS DON'T DROP OFF ONCE THEY GET INTO SECONDARY.

SO I TOOK NOTE TO THAT.

SO THANK YOU AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR TIME AND LISTENING AND LEARNING WITH THIS GROUP.

THEY'RE AMAZING.

ALL RIGHT. SO IF THERE'S NOTHING ELSE FOR THAT, THEN WE'LL.

WE GOT ONE MORE ITEM ON THE AGENDA, AND THEN WE'LL, AND THEN WE'LL GO, BUT NOT YOU GUYS.

YOU GUYS ARE FREE TO GO.

I'M KEEPING EVERYONE ELSE HERE.

THANK YOU.

YEAH SO

[B. Logistics]

OUR LAST ITEM ON THE AGENDA.

ACTUALLY, WE'RE STARTING TO COORDINATE SOME SCHEDULES HERE, AND THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT WE WANT TO TALK ABOUT.

SO GAIL IS NOT HERE TONIGHT, BUT SHE DID PASS ON A COUPLE OF THINGS THAT SHE WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT WE GET HAMMERED OUT, AND I'M SURE SHE'S WATCHING AT HOME OR RECORDING THIS SO SHE CAN WATCH LATER.

SO BUT, JOHN, WHY DON'T YOU, SINCE YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT SOME SCHEDULE STUFF, LET'S GO AHEAD AND TALK ABOUT THAT REAL QUICK.

FIRST OFF, I DIDN'T MENTION THIS YET, BUT THIS WEEK IS WHEN I START OUR FALL PRESENTATIONS AT OUR SCHOOLS DURING STAFF MEETINGS.

SO I'M EXCITED ABOUT THAT TO GET OUT IN FRONT OF OUR TEACHING STAFF AND OUR PRINCIPALS TO REALLY NOT REALLY START, BUT TO CONTINUE OUR HEALING PROCESS.

WE'RE GOING TO BE TALKING A LOT ABOUT COMING TOGETHER FOR THE SAKE OF OUR COMMUNITY, BUT ALSO FOR THE TWO LARGE EVENTS COMING UP, MEANING OUR LEGISLATIVE SESSION IN JANUARY AND THEN COMING RIGHT BACK WITH OUR LEVY IN FEBRUARY.

SO REALLY TRYING TO PULL OUR BUILDINGS TOGETHER FOR THE BETTER, FOR THE INTEREST OF OUR KIDS AND OUR FAMILIES.

IN ADDITION, COREY, WE HAVE A FEW LEARNING NIGHTS COMING UP THAT I'D LIKE TO LET YOU KNOW ABOUT ON THURSDAY OR ON FIRST ON

[00:45:07]

WEDNESDAY. DID YOU SAY THAT WAS 5:00 OR? 5:00 AT WOODBURN.

IT'S REALLY AN OPEN HOUSE, BUT THEY'LL BE HONING IN ON LITERACY LITERACY PRIMARILY AS YOU VISIT CLASSROOMS. THURSDAY IS A BUSY NIGHT.

4:30 WE START OFF AT LACAMAS LAKE FOR THEIR FALL FAMILY LEARNING NIGHT.

WE GO RIGHT OVER TO DOROTHY FOX, 5:00 FOR THEIR LEARNING NIGHT, ALSO CONSIDERED AN OPEN HOUSE AND THEN 6:00 OVER AT SKY RIDGE FOR THEIR WHAT THEY CALL HAWK TOBERFEST, WHICH I THINK WAS CANCELED LAST YEAR FOR I DON'T REMEMBER EXACTLY WHY, BUT THEY'RE COMING BACK STRONG HERE FOR THEIRS. FRIDAY I'LL BE AT SKY RIDGE FOR THE FALL PRESENTATION IN THE MORNING, BUT THEN WE HAVE AT 1:30 A MISSION AND VISION WORKSHOP AROUND OUR STRATEGIC PLAN, AND THAT'S AT HERE AT ZACH.

SO BUSY, BUSY, BUSY.

LISA LEADS THAT WORKSHOP, BUT ALL OF US AT ZACH, I ALSO HAVE A FEW OTHERS.

WE'LL HAVE DEREK.

KATIE SEIDEL.

MARILYN DOREEN.

JEN SCOTT.

CHERIE ALLEN, AND LIKE 1:30 WE HAVE LET'S SEE HOW MUCH TIME WE HAVE. WE HAVE ONE HOUR BLOCKED OFF.

OH, ONE HOUR. 1:30 TO 2:30 HOUR.

YEAH. HOPING WE'LL HAVE A PRODUCT TO YOU ALL VERY, VERY SOON.

ARE YOU GUYS ARE ANY OF YOU PLANNING ON ATTENDING ANY OF THOSE? YEAH. OKAY.

YEAH. OKAY.

THE MISSION VISION ONE, I AM OUT THURSDAY AND FRIDAY AND SATURDAY.

I HAVE AN EVENT, SO I DON'T THINK I'LL BE ABLE TO MAKE THE MISSION VISION AT 1:30.

I DON'T HAVE MY WORK CALENDAR IN FRONT OF ME, BUT I FOR SURE WANT TO HEAD TO WOODBURN AFTER AN APPOINTMENT I HAVE, SO I'LL ALREADY BE OUT AND ABOUT AND THERE'S THREE OPPORTUNITIES ON THURSDAY.

I'D LIKE TO MAKE SOMETHING. YEAH, I WON'T BE ABLE TO DO ANY OF THE THURSDAY OR FRIDAY EVENTS.

I MIGHT BE ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE WOODBURN ONE ON WEDNESDAY.

OKAY. WEDNESDAY.

WOODBURN. OKAY. YEAH.

YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO MAKE THE FRIDAY.

[INAUDIBLE] YEAH, AND THEN ALSO COREY MOVING INTO LATER IN THE MONTH, SATURDAY THE 28TH WE'LL BE HAVING A COFFEE TALK WITH COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN CONFERENCE ROOM G AT 9:00 IN THE MORNING.

IT'S OCTOBER 28TH.

OH, YEAH. OH, WE'RE GOING INTO COFFEE AND CONVERSATION.

OKAY. YEAH. 9:00 CONFERENCE ROOM G THAT'S WITH COMMUNITY MEMBERS, AND THEN AFTERNOON, WE'LL COME BACK WITH STAFF MEMBERS AT 1:00.

GOT IT. THEY'RE BOTH ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 28TH, DOING A 9:00 AND A 1:00.

THAT'S WHAT I HAVE. THAT'S WHAT I HAVE, TOO.

SO GAIL, I'M SURE IS GOING TO SEND OUT.

GOT IT. YEAH.

SEND THAT STUFF OUT.

YEP. SO JUST FOR THE FOLKS WATCHING AT HOME, THESE ARE OUR COFFEE AND CONVERSATION THINGS THAT WE DO MULTIPLE TIMES A YEAR, AND SO FOR TALKING TO THE BOARD, THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO DO THAT BECAUSE WE CAN ACTUALLY ENGAGE IN SOME CONVERSATION AS OPPOSED TO BOARD MEETINGS AND PUBLIC COMMENT WHERE WE JUST HAVE TO LISTEN AND TAKE THAT IN AND WE AREN'T ALLOWED TO RESPOND.

SO IT'S GREAT THAT WE'VE BEEN DOING THESE.

WE DO ABOUT 3 OR 4 OF THESE A YEAR.

SO IS THERE ANYTHING THAT WAS ACTUALLY SOMETHING THAT WE WERE GOING TO THAT WAS ONE OF GAIL'S NOTES? IS THERE ANYTHING THAT WE WANT TO WE WANT TO CHANGE FROM THE FORMAT OF LAST YEAR OF THOSE AT ALL? I THINK THERE WAS SOME TALK ABOUT MAYBE TRYING TO MAKE THEM NOT AS FREE FLOWING OR MAKE THEM NOT FREE FLOWING, BUT LIKE OKAY. OH, THERE I'M BACK.

OKAY, SO WE WERE TALKING ABOUT MAYBE IF WE WANTED TO, LIKE, MAKE IT AROUND AROUND A TOPIC OR IF WE DO ANYTHING TO MAKE IT SO THAT EVERYBODY FEELS LIKE IT WAS WORTH THEIR TIME AND THEY'RE BEING HEARD.

SOMETIMES WE SOMETIMES HAVE THE SHEET, THOUGH, THAT WAS LIKE THINGS THAT ARE GOING GOOD OR THINGS THAT YOU HAD.

SO KIND OF SOME PROMPTS, I GUESS MAYBE NOT A SPECIFIC TOPIC BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO HOLD PEOPLE TO ONE TOPIC IF THEY DON'T WANT TO COME FOR THAT ONE TOPIC, BUT MORE OF LIKE SOME LEADING QUESTIONS WHERE THEY CAN.

SO AT LEAST EVERYONE HAS A CHANCE TO TALK RIGHT AND SAY SOMETHING THAT'S GOING WELL, AND AFTER WE GIVE SOME UPDATES, LIKE MAYBE HERE'S WHAT IS HAPPENING OR WHAT WILL BE

[00:50:02]

GOING. SO THAT IS KIND OF A PROMPT WITHIN ITSELF, RIGHT.

JOHN, WILL YOU BE AT THOSE? I WILL. OKAY. IT MIGHT BE A GOOD IDEA TO AT THE BEGINNING OF IT, LIKE MAYBE SOLICIT WHAT ARE SOME TOPICS THAT YOU ALL WANT TO TALK ABOUT? AND THEN WE CAN GET TO THEM, GROUP THEM TOGETHER AND LIKE MAYBE LIKE WE CAN HAVE A GROUP OVER HERE WITH A COUPLE PEOPLE AND A GROUP OVER HERE ON THIS TOPIC OR JUST MAKE SURE THAT, OKAY, LET'S TRY TO GET THROUGH THESE DIVIDE THE TIME.

YEAH, WE'VE HAD SOME WHERE WHERE THE INTENT WAS TO DO EXACTLY THAT WHERE WE KIND OF BREAK OFF INTO MAYBE TWO BOARD MEMBERS AT A PLACE OR WHATEVER AND HAVE THOSE TALKS AND THEN SOMETIMES THE GROUPS WEREN'T BIG ENOUGH TO FACILITATE THAT.

[INAUDIBLE] SIPHON PEOPLE IF THEY JUST WANT TO COME LISTEN.

YEAH, LIKE THEY'RE NOT PUT ON THE SPOT.

YEAH, BUT AT LEAST IF WE CAN AT FIRST SOLICIT FOR WHAT, WHAT ARE SOME TOPICS THAT PEOPLE WANT TO TALK ABOUT HERE SO THAT WE CAN MAKE SURE THAT WE GET TO THEM ALL? YEAH, I DO LIKE THAT.

I'D ALSO LIKE TO HAVE SOMETHING TO I THINK WE'VE HAD THESE WHERE WE'VE HAD THE CARDS FOR PEOPLE TO BE ABLE TO WRITE THINGS DOWN AND THEN MAKE SURE THAT ON THE CARDS THAT IF THEY WANT SOMETHING TO BE FOLLOWED UP WITH, THAT THERE'S AN OPTION FOR THEM TO ACTUALLY SAY, LIKE, I'D LIKE SOMEBODY TO GET BACK TO ME SO THAT ONE OF US OR JOHN OR SOMEBODY FROM SOMEBODY FROM CABINET OR STAFF CAN DO THAT.

JUST TRYING TO KEEP I MEAN, WE'VE BEEN DOING THESE FOR A FEW YEARS NOW, UP FOR ABOUT 5 OR 6 YEARS AND JUST TRYING TO HONE THEM EACH TIME TO MAKE THEM WORTH EVERYBODY'S TIME.

I THINK IT'S TOO EARLY.

I KNOW IN YEARS PAST WE'VE HAD OR PAST ONES, WE'VE HAD OUR LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES BECAUSE THOSE ARE ALWAYS A BIG AND I DON'T THINK WE'RE QUITE TO THAT YET BUT MAYBE AT THE NEXT ONE WE CAN HAVE THAT BECAUSE I KNOW IT'S A HOT TOPIC PEOPLE ALWAYS ASK FOR TOO.

OKAY IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE ON THE COFFEE AND CONVERSATION? BECAUSE THAT WAS DEFINITELY ONE THING I WAS SUPPOSED TO I'M SUPPOSED TO TALK ABOUT I HAVE MY LIST FROM I HAVE MY LIST FROM GAIL.

THAT WAS ONE THING DEFINITELY TO TALK ABOUT.

GAIL ALSO WANTED TO TALK ABOUT THE LEGISLATIVE ADVISORY COMMITTEE, SO APPLICATIONS ARE OUT FOR THAT.

DID YOU HAVE ANYTHING YOU WANTED TO ADD TO THAT? SORRY. YEAH, PERFECT TIMING TO YOUR POINT, TRACEY.

SO WE HAVE OUR INFORMATIONAL MEETING ON MONDAY NIGHT AT 5:30 FOR A LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY COMMITTEE MEETING.

IT STARTS. SO IF ANYONE CAN MAKE IT TO THAT MONDAY, THE 16TH, MONDAY THE 16TH AT 5:30, WHAT WE'RE PLANNING TO DO AT THAT MEETING IS JUST GO OVER WHAT OSPI AND SOME REGIONAL PLATFORMS ARE SO WE CAN BRING THAT INFORMATION BACK TO THE BOARD TO START KIND OF ALIGNING TO WHAT OUR LOCAL PLATFORM MAY BE.

WE ALSO WILL.

AT THAT KIND OF LIKE WHAT WE DO AT CAC WILL.

IT'S KIND OF AN OPEN INVITATION, AND THEN WE'LL NARROW DOWN PEOPLE TO BE ON THAT COMMITTEE THAT AGAIN, THAT IS THE 16TH MONDAY, THE 16TH AT 5:30 HERE IN THE BOARD ROOM, AND WE'VE BEEN ADVERTISING THAT, RIGHT? I THINK I SAW SOMETHING. SO PEOPLE KNOW ANYONE CAN SHOW UP TO THAT.

ANYBODY CAN SHOW UP? WE HAVE TWO MEMBERS--IT'S NOT OUR CALENDAR.

SO DO WE HAVE TWO BOARD MEMBERS ON THAT? WELL, WE DON'T WANT TO HAVE MORE THAN TWO BOARD MEMBERS AT IT, THOUGH, AND I CAN MAKE THAT ONE, BUT WE GUYS CAN.

WE CAN COORDINATE THAT, AND I'M SORRY, I WAS GOING.

THIS IS THE LEGISLATIVE ADVISORY ONE.

YEAH. LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY.

ADVOCACY, ADVOCACY, ADVOCACY.

I'M SORRY. I KEEP. YES, WE'RE STILL CALLING IT.

YEAH, WE HAVE AN ACRONYM.

YEAH. LET'S HOPE WE'RE NOT LACKING.

YEAH, BUT ACTUALLY, I'M REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THIS BECAUSE WE'RE.

WE'RE HAVING A LOT OF INTEREST.

IT'S GOING TO BE A GREAT WAY FOR PEOPLE TO VOICE THEIR AND WORK TOGETHER AND ACTUALLY HAVE A DIRECTION, AND I FEEL LIKE, YES, WE'RE EARLY, BUT IN SOME WAYS I THINK WE'RE RIGHT ON TIME, TOO, AND THEN THE SECOND MEETING WILL BE WILL NARROW DOWN TO SOME MORE COMMITTEE MEMBERS WILL ACTUALLY TRY TO NARROW DOWN OUR PLATFORM.

THE THIRD ONE WILL BE PROBABLY MOST IMPORTANT.

WE'LL HAVE OUR LEGISLATORS THERE.

THAT'S ON NOVEMBER 20TH.

YES, AND WE'RE PLANNING TO DO KIND OF A RECEPTION, ALMOST LIKE A A SEND OFF TO OUR LEGISLATORS JUST BECAUSE AS WE GET INTO THE HOLIDAYS AND THEN JANUARY, THEY'RE STARTING EARLY.

SO NOVEMBER IS REALLY GOING TO BE THE TIME WHERE WE GET TOGETHER.

SO EXCITING STUFF, AND HOPEFULLY TWO OF YOU CAN BE THERE AND COREY IF I CAN JUST ADD ONE THING, SAC OUR STUDENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE, THE KIDS HAVE ACTUALLY ASKED SAC, OUR KIDS HAVE ACTUALLY ASKED IF TWO BOARD MEMBERS CAN COME TO SOME OF IF NOT ALL OF THEIR MEETINGS, NOT THEIR LEADERSHIP MEETINGS, BUT THE LARGER GROUP.

SO I'LL GET THOSE OUT TO YOU THERE AND THE AFTERNOON TYPICALLY AT 4:00 BUT I'LL GET THOSE TIMES IN

[00:55:02]

PERSON. OR ARE THEY ON ZOOM? OKAY, THEY'RE IN PERSON.

THEY'RE OVER IN G AS WELL.

THE FIRST MEETING WAS AWESOME AND THEY ARE REALLY EXCITED TO SHARE WITH YOU A COUPLE OF THEIR PROJECTS, BUT THE OTHER PIECE IS THEY WOULD LIKE TO AND WE CAN MAYBE TALK ABOUT THIS MORE LATER. THEY WOULD ACTUALLY LIKE TO BE A PART OF A WORKSHOP IN THE SPRING.

YES, PLEASE. WHERE? BECAUSE THEY FEEL LIKE THEY WANT TO GET TO KNOW YOU BETTER AND REALLY HAVE SOME DIALOG.

WE'RE AT BOARD MEETINGS SOMETIMES IT'S NOT NECESSARILY JUST ONE WAY, AND I THINK FORMAL.

I THINK THAT BY HAVING A COUPLE BOARD MEMBERS MAYBE WE CAN ROTATE THROUGH THOSE.

YEAH SO A LOT OF ASKS BUT BUT IF WE CAN WE CAN DIVIDE THE WORK UP THOUGH AND EVEN IF MAYBE SOMETIMES IT'S JUST ONE BOARD MEMBER INSTEAD OF TWO, AT LEAST SOMEBODY IS THERE SO WE CAN REPORT BACK.

SO LET'S IF YOU DON'T MIND, JUST BECAUSE I KNOW WE'VE BEEN BOUNCING AROUND A LOT AND I WANT TO MAKE SURE WE NAIL SOME OF THESE DOWN.

SO ON THE 16TH OF OCTOBER FOR THE COMMITTEE MEETING, WHO IS ABLE TO GO TO THAT? TRACEY IS. TRACEY AND BAMINI.

ONLY TWO OF US SHOULD GO TO THESE BECAUSE.

YEAH, OTHERWISE IT'S A QUORUM.

YEAH. SO IT'S JUST LIKE ALL OF OUR OTHER STANDING COMMITTEES.

SO DO YOU TWO WANT TO TAKE THIS FIRST ONE THEN? OKAY AND THEN DID YOU SAY THERE'S ONE I'M NOT SEEING? IS THERE ONE IN BETWEEN THE 16TH AND NOVEMBER 20TH.

NOVEMBER 20TH IS THE LEDGE.

IS THE LEDGE RECEPTION.

THAT'S WHAT I HAVE ON MY CALENDAR AT 5:30.

YES, I WOULD SAY YES.

WE CAN ALL GO TO YES.

WE? YEAH, WE JUST.

YEAH, WE JUST NEED TO. WE JUST PUBLICIZE IT AS A YEAH, WE NEED TO ALL BE THERE.

OKAY. YES, I HAVE.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 30TH AT 5:30.

OH, THAT WAS THE ONE. OKAY.

YEAH, I'M OUT FOR THAT.

I CANNOT DO THE 30TH, AND THAT'S FOR THE LAC AT ZACH.

YEAH THAT'S GOING TO, THAT'S GOING TO BE OUR ACTUAL MEMBERS.

SO THE FIRST OFFICIAL MEETING WITH THE MEMBERS.

16TH IS THE INTRODUCTORY.

YEAH, THE 30TH.

THE FIRST MEETING CONSISTENT.

IF YOU TWO CAN GO, I THINK THAT'D BE GREAT BECAUSE YOU WENT TO THE FIRST MEETING.

30TH [INAUDIBLE] YEAH, I CAN DO 30TH TOO.

IF YOU CAN.

YEAH. SO TRACEY AND BAMINI AT THOSE ONES AS WELL.

OKAY, AND THEN ON THE 20TH, WE'LL DO ALL OF US.

SO WE'LL JUST NEED TO PUBLICIZE THAT ONE THAT WE'LL ALL BE HERE.

OKAY, AND THAT'LL BE AT 5:30 IN THE BOARDROOM.

OKAY AND THEN I GUESS WITH THE OTHER THE THINGS THAT WE MENTIONED THIS WEEK, I THINK WE'RE ALL GOOD THERE.

MISSION VISION DID YOU SAY YOU WERE GOING TO TRY AND GO TO THAT ON FRIDAY? OKAY. OKAY.

SO I GUESS JUST AND THEN FOR THE COFFEE AND CONVERSATIONS ON THE 28TH.

SO THE 9:00 AND THE 1:00.

ARE WE ABLE OR UNABLE TO GO? I AM ABLE. UNABLE.

YOU'RE OUT THE WHOLE WEEK.

THE WHOLE DAY. OKAY.

WELL, I'M DRIVING HOME.

YOU'RE ABLE. ARE YOU HERE AT THE [INAUDIBLE].

OKAY. SO, EVERYBODY. OKAY, SO THE FOUR OF US CAN MAKE BOTH OF THOSE THEN.

OKAY. SURPRISE YOU AT 1:00.

LOOK SURPRISED. OKAY.

OKAY, I'M GOING THROUGH THOSE RIGHT NOW.

YEAH. MAYBE HAVE GAIL SEND THE CALENDAR.

SHE CAN. WELL, THAT'S WHY WE'RE DOING THIS NOW SO THAT SHE CAN HAVE OUR TWO JUST SO WE CAN COORDINATE CALENDARS RIGHT NOW [INAUDIBLE] WHEN THE FIRST STUDENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE IS.

YEAH, AND THEN WE CAN GO FROM THERE.

YEAH, I'LL GET BACK TO YOU ON THAT BECAUSE I WANT TO MAKE SURE WE DO MULTIPLE MEETINGS.

WE HAVE SOME WITH JUST LIKE ME, KATIE, SHAUNA, WE HAVE SOME WITH JUST THE LEADERSHIP KIDS AND THEN WE HAVE THE WHOLE GROUP.

SO I'D RATHER NOT GIVE YOU THE WRONG DATES.

I MEAN, JUST I'D RATHER YOU COME TO THE ONES WITH THE WHOLE GROUP.

THAT'S FAIR, AND THEN DO WE NEED TO DO ANYTHING FOR SO CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE? WE'VE GOT OUR TWO FOR THAT.

RIGHT? WHAT? OH, YEAH. OKAY, SO YOU GUYS ARE GOOD WITH THAT, AND THEN BUDGET COMMITTEE WILL BE ROTATING THROUGH, I THINK, BUT WHEN IS THE FIRST? DID YOU SEE GAIL SENT WHERE YOU CHECKED THE BOXES? DID YOU GUYS DO THAT? OKAY. OKAY. YEAH.

DID EVERYBODY DO THAT? OKAY. IT WAS IN THE MAYBE JOHN'S THAT WAS ALSO IN MY NOTES YOU GO TO THE PLACE AND YOU CHECK WHETHER YOU CAN GO, AND I STRUGGLE MAKING THE BUDGET COMMITTEES BECAUSE THEY'RE WEDNESDAY NIGHTS. SO IT'S HARDER FOR ME THAN THE LEGISLATIVE WEDNESDAYS ARE OPEN FOR ME.

SO I'LL TAKE CARE OF.

OKAY. [INAUDIBLE] I THINK IT WAS IN YOUR WEEKLY UPDATE AND IF YOU CLICK.

YEAH, IT'S IN THE WEEKLY UPDATE, AND THAT WAS ALSO THERE FOR TWO BY ONES AND SITE VISITS.

[01:00:03]

WE HAVE SITE VISITS COMING UP.

SO OCTOBER 31ST IS THE FIRST ONE AND DECEMBER, NOVEMBER 7TH AND THEN THE FOLLOWING WEEK, THE SEVENTH.

YEAH SO WE'RE DOING MORNING SITE VISITS ON THE 31ST AT GRASS VALLEY, SKY RIDGE AND HAYES, AND THEN ON NOVEMBER 7TH THEY ARE AFTERNOONS AT PRUNE HILL ODYSSEY DISCOVERY.

SO I SHOULD BE ABLE TO MAKE BOTH OF THOSE BUT AND I APOLOGIZE.

I MISREAD AN EMAIL FROM WSSDA.

I THOUGHT THAT THEY SENT IT TO ALL OF YOU AND THEY JUST SENT IT TO ME AS BOARD PRESIDENT.

SO I'M GOING TO FORWARD YOU AN EMAIL ABOUT IT'S THE ANNUAL ONE WHERE WSSDA ASKS US AS A BOARD TO RANK WHAT OUR TEN LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES ARE. SO I THOUGHT THEY SENT IT TO ALL OF YOU AND I WAS GOING TO TALK ABOUT IT TODAY, AND NOW AS I'M LOOKING AT IT, I'M LIKE, OH NO, THEY ACTUALLY JUST SENT IT TO ME, SO I NEED TO SEND THAT TO YOU, AND THEN WE'LL LOOK IT OVER AND I JUST HAVE TO ANSWER THEM BACK BY THE 16TH.

SO NEXT MONDAY WITH WHAT OUR PRIORITIES ARE.

SO I'LL SEND THOSE. ARE YOU OUR LEG' REP OR BECAUSE I WAS READING WE HAD ANOTHER EMAIL TODAY AND SO THEN I WONDERED WHO IS OUR LEG' REP? I DIDN'T KNOW IF IT WAS YOU OR YOU, SO I WONDERED IF THAT'S WHY IT WENT TO.

I THINK THAT FOR WSSDA THEY HAVE ME DOWN AS BOARD PRESIDENT AND LEG' REP, SO WE'LL CLEAR THAT UP ESPECIALLY.

YEAH. WELL, IF ERIKA BE THE LEG'.

OKAY. SO DID YOU GET.

YOU DIDN'T GET THAT EMAIL THEN.

OKAY. SO I DON'T THINK THAT IT'S BEEN I DON'T THINK THAT'S BEEN RELAYED TO WSSDA.

SO I WILL SEND THAT. SO I DON'T KNOW IF YOU GUYS REMEMBER THAT, BUT THAT'S ALL THE LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES THAT THEY ADOPTED AT GENERAL ASSEMBLY AND THEN WE GO IN AND WE JUST SAY AS A BOARD WHAT OUR TOP TEN ARE.

SO I'LL FORWARD THAT OUT TO YOU, AND IF YOU CAN JUST I'VE GOT A LITTLE SPREADSHEET TOGETHER WHERE YOU CAN JUST SAY WHICH ONES YOU THINK ARE YOUR PRIORITIES, AND THEN WE'LL THEN YOU'LL SUBMIT.

YEAH, BECAUSE ONE PERSON HAS TO SUBMIT ON BEHALF OF THE DISTRICT.

SO I'LL DO THAT AND IT JUST HAS TO BE DONE BY THE 16TH.

SO I'LL GIVE YOU ANOTHER GOOD DATE, NOVEMBER 6TH AT 4:00.

THIS IS THE STUDENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE IN CONFERENCE ROOM WHERE THEY'LL BE PRESENTING TO THE PRINCIPALS, BASICALLY GOING THROUGH HOW THEY'LL DO THEIR WINDOWS AND MIRRORS PROJECT WITH THE FIRST AND FIFTH GRADERS.

THAT WOULD BE A GREAT ONE TO ATTEND.

SO AGAIN, THAT'S 4:00 NOVEMBER 6TH IN CONFERENCE ROOM G, AND THEN WE ROLL RIGHT INTO CAC AT 5:30.

OH, WAIT, IS THAT ON MY CALENDAR? CAC IS [INAUDIBLE].

SO YOU'RE RIGHT, CONNIE AND I WANT TO DO THAT ONE.

WE COULD JUST DO STUDENT ADVISORY RIGHT INTO CAC.

UNLESS ANYONE ELSE ON THAT DAY.

DOES THAT WORK THEN? FOR NOW. OKAY.

IS THAT WHEN STUDENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE TYPICALLY MEETS IS RIGHT BEFORE CAC.

IT IS. SO THAT MIGHT BE A WE DON'T HAVE TO ALWAYS DO DOUBLE DUTY BUT WE COULD FOR.

YEAH AND THE PROBLEM WITH THREE OF US GOING IS? IT'S A QUORUM AND THEN IT'S AN OPEN PUBLIC MEETING.

EVEN IF ONE DOESN'T TALK, WE'RE THERE.

YEAH. IF WE'RE THERE, WE HAVE.

WE CAN ROTATE LIKE IF YOU WANT.

JUST LIKE WITH ALL OTHER STANDING COMMITTEES.

WE JUST HAVE TO HAVE KIND OF LIKE ON THE.

YES, RIGHT. LIKE IF ONE OF US CAN'T MAKE CAC, WE JUST HAVE TO TELL YOU GUYS, I CAN'T MAKE IT AND THEN SOMEONE ELSE CAN JUMP IN AND DO THOSE, RIGHT? SO YEAH.

OKAY. THE CALENDAR TOGETHER.

WE JUST CHECK OFF. I JUST.

WELL, AND I'M GOING TO.

I'LL SEND ALL OF THESE I'LL SEND ALL THESE DATES HERE BECAUSE THAT WAS WHAT SHE WANTED TO DO TONIGHT, AND THEN OBVIOUSLY SHE'S UNDER THE WEATHER AND CAN'T MAKE IT.

SO I WROTE SOME OF THESE DOWN AND IT'S BEING RECORDED.

SO SHE'S GOT THAT INFORMATION, TOO.

SO YEAH MY LAST THING, AND THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WE TALKED ABOUT AT OUR PLANNING SESSION OVER THE SUMMER, AND THEN ERIKA AND I JUST DID A, OUR QUARTERLY POLICY REVIEW COMMITTEE A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO WHERE WE GOT A NEW SET OF POLICIES, AND AS WE WERE DIGGING INTO THOSE, WE WERE REALIZING THAT WE AS A DISTRICT ARE BEHIND ON SOME OF OUR POLICY UPDATES, AND SO WE WOULD LIKE TO START BRINGING SOME POLICIES TO WORKSHOPS TO LOOK AT JUST NOT A HUGE NUMBER, BUT JUST SO THAT WE CAN BE CATCHING UP ON THEM, MAYBE, I DON'T KNOW, 5 OR 6 POLICY UPDATES AND A LOT OF THESE I KNOW LIKE BAMINI, YOU HAVEN'T DONE POLICY REVIEW COMMITTEE BEFORE.

A LOT OF THESE ARE PRETTY SIMPLE CHANGES, LIKE JUST UPDATING THE LAW OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

OTHERS, OTHERS WE HAVE TO DIG INTO A LITTLE BIT MORE, BUT TYPICALLY WE REVIEW THEM AS A POLICY REVIEW COMMITTEE AND THEN WE BRING THEM TO THE BOARD, BUT AT OUR AT OUR SUMMER PLANNING SESSION, THERE WAS A LITTLE BIT MORE OF AN APPETITE FOR EVERYBODY TO KIND OF DIG INTO THOSE A LITTLE BIT.

SO IF THAT'S OKAY WITH YOU, I'D LIKE TO WORK WITH GAIL ON GETTING A FEW MORE OF THOSE AND MAKING SURE THAT THE CABINET MEMBERS THAT ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR REVIEWING THOSE KNOW

[01:05:04]

THAT, OKAY, NOW WE'RE GOING TO WE'RE GOING TO START RAMPING THE PEED OF THESE UP A LITTLE BIT MORE BECAUSE WE HAVE SOME IN OUR QUEUE THAT ARE ARE YEARS PAST THE RECOMMENDED UPDATE TIME, AND WE JUST NEED TO WE NEED TO WE NEED TO MOVE ON THOSE.

SO AS LONG AS YOU GUYS ARE OKAY WITH THAT, I'M GOING TO START PUTTING THAT ON THE ON THE WORKSHOP TIMES.

WE'LL STILL HAVE TO DO FIRST AND SECOND READINGS AT BOARD MEETINGS, BUT AT LEAST THEN WE CAN DIG INTO THEM A LITTLE BIT MORE AND BE ABLE TO HAVE A LITTLE MORE CONVERSATION ABOUT THEM. OKAY.

ALL RIGHT. I THINK I GOT EVERYTHING THERE.

SO IT IS 6:33 UNLESS YOU HAD ANYTHING ELSE.

ALL RIGHT, THEN WE ARE ADJOURNED FOR THE EVENING.
