[00:05:05] WELL, THANK YOU FOR COMING. CONGRATULATIONS. THANK YOU FOR REPRESENTING OUR DISTRICT WITH SUCH AMAZING SKILLS. WOW. YEAH, AND BEST OF LUCK AT THE NEXT LEVEL AS WELL. SO. ALL THAT SCHOLARSHIP MONEY TOO, YES. ALL RIGHT. THAT'S FANTASTIC. ALL RIGHT. KEEPING THE STUDENT CENTERED PORTION OF OUR MEETING GOING, WE HAVE OUR STUDENT REPORTS. [4. STUDENT/COMMITTEE REPORTS] LOOKS LIKE OUR FIRST REPORT IS FROM SIMONE COWAN AND DISCOVERY HIGH SCHOOL. COME ON UP TO THE MIC. I THINK YOU KNOW THE DRILL BY NOW. YEAH. OKAY. OKAY. HI. AS YOU PROBABLY KNOW BY NOW, I'M SIMONE COWAN. I'M A SENIOR AT DISCOVERY HIGH SCHOOL. I JUST WANT TO GIVE A QUICK UPDATE ON DISCOVERY'S ASB PROJECTS LATELY. PRETTY MUCH ALL OF OUR ATTENTION HAS BEEN FOCUSED ON OUR PROM. IT'S COMING UP. IT'S MAY 4TH AT THE GARVER THEATER, AND THEN WE HAVE A COUPLE FUNDRAISERS COMING UP. PANERA BREAD ON MONDAY, NOT TODAY, NEXT MONDAY. AND THEN COMING UP IN MAY, WE HAVE A DINE AROUND AT MOD PIZZA AND PANDA EXPRESS. AND THEN AFTER THAT IS GRADUATION, WHICH IS COMING UP INCREDIBLY SOON. AND I'M A LITTLE BIT TERRIFIED, BUT THAT'S OKAY. AND THAT'S ABOUT IT FOR US. WE'VE BEEN LIKE I SAID, MOST OF OUR ATTENTION HAS GONE TO PROM BECAUSE IT'S COMING UP SO QUICK. SO ANY QUESTIONS? I JUST THINK THAT'S REALLY COOL THAT WE'RE DOING PROM AT GARVER. THAT'S A GREAT THAT'S A GREAT VENUE. HOW MANY HOW MANY PEOPLE DO YOU EXPECT ABOUT AT YOUR PROM? PROBABLY ABOUT 100. ABOUT 100. OH THAT. YEAH. SO THAT LOBBY AREA WORKS REALLY COOL THERE. THAT'S A GREAT IDEA I LOVE THAT. SO ANOTHER QUICK QUESTION IS THE WESTERN WASHINGTON SWEATSHIRT ANY INDICATION OF THE FUTURE. YES I'M GOING TO GO TO WESTERN. WOO WOO.. VIKINGS. GOOD CHOICE. WHAT DO YOU PLAN TO STUDY I WANT TO BE A KINDERGARTEN TEACHER. WONDERFUL. COME ON BACK. SIGN HER UP. SIGN HER UP. YO, WAY TO GO SIMONE. WE'LL TAKE YOUR INFORMATION AT THE DOOR. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS FOR SIMONE? ALL RIGHT. WE APPRECIATE YOU, AS ALWAYS. THANK YOU. NEXT FROM CAMAS HIGH SCHOOL, WE HAVE A REPORT FROM ETHAN NYGAARD, OH, AND, FRIENDS, I'M SORRY. WE. HIS NAME IS BLAKE. OKAY. I'M BLAKE, I'M A SOPHOMORE. ALL RIGHT. WELCOME. GOOD EVENING BOARD. I HOPE YOU ALL HAD A WONDERFUL WEEKEND. I KNOW I AND ALMOST 900 STUDENTS HAD A GREAT WEEKEND AT PROM. WE HAD THE HIGHEST EVER PROM ATTENDANCE, AND THERE WERE GREAT REVIEWS FROM STUDENTS AS WE HEADED OUT TOWARDS THE LEFT BANK ANNEX. IN THE PAST KNOWLEDGEABLE TOOK FOURTH AT STATE SAME AS WELL AS SCIENCE OLYMPIAD TOOK SECOND AT STATE. RECENTLY, OUR GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM WAS HONORED WITH THE PROCLAMATION THAT THE WEEK OF APRIL 15TH THROUGH THE 22ND IS GIRLS BASKETBALL WEEK IN THE CITY OF CAMAS. ALSO TO KICK OFF SPRING BREAK, WE HAD LUNCHTIME GAMES DURING THE TESTING WEEK, WHICH HELPED THE KIDS A LOT WITH LIKE STRESSES THEY MIGHT BE DEALING WITH AND JUST LIKE RELAXATION TIME DURING LUNCH. THIS YEAR, OUR FIRST ANNUAL SENIOR AWARDS NIGHT WILL BE HELD AT GARVER. TUESDAY OF GRAD WEEK. IT'S A MORE FORMAL EVENT THAN PREVIOUSLY, WHERE WE WOULD JUST DO IT AT GRADUATION. SO IT'S GOING TO BE EXCITING. SOME CURRENT SPORTS UPDATES WERE THAT THE GIRLS GOLF WON THE PASCO INVITE. JACINDA SET A COURSE RECORD WITH A 65. BOYS AND GIRLS TRACK WON THE MAC INVITE, AND CURRENT CHS STUDENT CHASE MCGEE SET A NEW SCHOOL RECORD IN POLE VAULT WHILE WINNING IT ALL AT THE OREGON RELAYS, AND OUR GIRLS SPRINT MEDLEY TEAM SET A SCHOOL RECORD AND WON IT ALL AT THE OREGON RELAYS. OUR RUNNERS WERE ALYSSA MARSHALL, AUTUMN DOBBS, SAVANNAH GARDEN AND AMARA HARRIS, AND ALSO BOYS SOCCER BEAT TOP RANKED DAVIS. RECENTLY WE HAD OUR RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS WEEK. SOME FUN THINGS WE DID WERE A BOUNCE AND BATTLE OBSTACLE COURSES DURING LUNCH TIME IN THE GYM. WE ALSO HAD A GROUP OF BOYS PUT ON COOKIE MONSTER ONESIES AND HAND OUT COOKIES AT LUNCH. THAT WAS PRETTY FUN. WE GAVE OUT ICE CREAM, HANDWRITTEN NOTES LEFT ON CAR WINDOWS IN THE SCHOOL PARKING LOT, AND SHOUT OUTS VIA INSTAGRAM. IN THE FORM OF VERBAL COMPLIMENTS OR VIDEO. AND COMING UP IN CAMAS HIGH SCHOOL, THERE'S GOING TO BE AP TESTING COMING UP REAL FAST FOR ALL AP STUDENTS. I'M NOT TAKING AP TESTING, BUT I WOULD BE SCARED IF I WAS. ALSO, THERE'S ASB ELECTIONS FOR OFFICERS. [00:10:01] THE FORMS GET TURNED IN YESTERDAY OR TOMORROW. THAT'S THE DUE DATE. ALSO, THE CONSTITUTION THAT WE GAVE YOU GUYS EARLIER GOT PASSED WITH AN 83%. AND ALSO ICDC IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA IS GETTING HELD THIS THURSDAY. LAST BUT NOT LEAST, ICDC FOR DECA INTERNATIONALS. YEAH. YESTERDAY AFTERNOON WE HAD A FEW LEADERSHIP STUDENTS COME JOIN IN ON THE SPRING CLEANUP. IT WAS PRETTY GOOD. WE GOT A LOT DONE. ANY QUESTIONS? GREAT, VERY THOROUGH REPORT. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. ONE QUESTION. GO AHEAD. WHEN YOU GUYS TAKE AN AP EXAM, DO YOU GET THE WHOLE DAY OFF? I MEAN, DO YOU ONLY HAVE TO COME TO SCHOOL FOR YOUR AP EXAM? OR DO YOU HAVE TO COME? I'M NOT SURE, BUT BECAUSE THIS IS MY FIRST YEAR TAKING AP. OH, OKAY. THERE IS A SCHEDULE THAT WAS JUST RELEASED TO THE STUDENTS BY TOM MORRIS. YEAH. WHICH IS WHEN THE AP EXAMS ARE. I JUST DIDN'T KNOW IF WE HAD THAT POLICY THAT WHEN YOU HAVE AN AP EXAM, YOU JUST COME FOR YOUR EXAM. TEACHER. YEAH. THEY ARE TYPICALLY EITHER GONE FOR THE FIRST FOUR PERIODS OR THE LAST THREE PERIODS, DEPENDING ON WHETHER THEY DO THEIR TESTS, THEY GO TO LUNCH.. AND THEY STILL HAVE TO GO TO CLASS. OKAY. SO THEY DO HAVE TO GET EXCUSED, BUT IT'S NOT A SCHOOL. GOTCHA. AND THEN IF THEY'RE DOING THE AFTERNOON ONE. YEAH. IN THE MORNING, THEY GO TO THE FIRST THREE CLASSES AND THEY GO TO LUNCH AND THEN. NOON. YEAH. THANK YOU. THANK YOU BOTH. APPRECIATE IT. ALL RIGHT. MOVING ON TO ITEM FIVE A, BOARD COMMUNICATION. [5. BOARD COMMUNICATION] JUST WANT TO SEE IF ANYBODY HAS ANYTHING THEY WANT TO SHARE OR ANYTHING THAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO IN THE LAST MONTH OR SO SINCE OUR MARCH BOARD MEETING. I JUST WANT TO RECOGNIZE THAT THIS IS OUR LAST BOARD MEETING BEFORE OUR 2024 GRADUATES GRADUATE. WE HAVE ONE IN MAY. WE HAVE ONE IN MAY. IS IT ONLY APRIL? I'M GOING TO SAVE THIS SPEECH. HOLD THAT THOUGHT. SORRY, SIMONE. DON'T MAKE DON'T MEAN TO FREAK YOU OUT. I WAS MOVING FORWARD. I'M LIKE, OH MY GOSH. NO, I'LL SEE YOU IN MAY OKAY. NO FOR ACTIVITIES. GOSH, IT'S GONE BY FAST. I THINK WE HAD ANOTHER LEGISLATIVE LAC LEGISLATIVE ACTIVE ADVOCACY COMMITTEE AND WE HAVE ANOTHER ONE COMING UP THIS WEEK. SO WE'LL HAVE MORE TO REPORT ON THIS WEEK. OTHER THAN THAT, I'M GOOD. WE THERE HAVE BEEN A LOT OF ACTION AND MEETINGS FOR THE CAPITAL FACILITIES PROGRAM. MEETING WITH OUR PARTNERS, AND THERE'S A LOT OF ACTION GOING ON AND A LOT ABOUT TO GO OUT TO THE PUBLIC AND HAVE FORUMS AND THINGS TO GET INPUT. SO DEALING WITH THE LEDBETTER PROPERTY THAT UL LEDBETTER, SO THERE'S A LOT GOING ON THERE. IT'S VERY EXCITING. SO MORE TO COME ON THAT. YEAH. AND I THINK IN MAY, IT RAMPS UP EVEN MORE WITH LOTS OF SURVEYS GOING OUT AND MEETINGS AND ALL KINDS OF WAYS FOR COMMUNITY TO BE INVOLVED AND WHATNOT. SO WE'LL BE REALLY BUSY IN THE MONTH OF MAY. GREAT. WELL, I HAD THE PRIVILEGE OF REPRESENTING THE BOARD AT THE THE INAUGURAL CAMAS MUSIC BOOSTER GALA THIS WEEKEND. THAT OUR BRAND NEW MUSIC BOOSTERS PUT ON AT THE THE CAMAS COMMUNITY CENTER. AND IT WAS YOU'VE BEEN TO THE CAMAS COMMUNITY CENTER BEFORE AT THE OLD OAK PARK SCHOOL. WHAT THEY'RE ABLE TO DO TO TRANSFORM THAT PLACE INTO A I MEAN, IT WAS A VERY, A VERY NICE TONS OF WORK. I HAD TO GO DOWN A LITTLE BIT IN THE MORNING ON SATURDAY AND HELP WITH SOME SETUP AND STUFF, AND AND THEN THE ACTUAL EVENT WAS JUST WAS FANTASTIC. I WAS ASKING, I WAS ASKING AROUND. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN SAY YET ABOUT TOTALS? I DIDN'T I DON'T HAVE TOTALS YET, BUT I KNOW THEY FEEL REALLY GOOD THAT THEY WERE THEY WERE PLANTING THE SEEDS THERE AS THE THEME WAS SO JUST WANT TO GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO THE MUSIC BOOSTERS WHO HAVE REALLY THEY'VE ONLY BEEN AROUND ABOUT A YEAR AND JUST GETTING THINGS OFF THE GROUND. ESPECIALLY WHITNEY HENION AND DON WORKMAN, WHO WERE THE CO-CHAIRS FOR THE EVENT. I KNOW THEY THEY PUT A TON OF WORK INTO THAT. I'M SURE WHITNEY HAS A LOT MORE ROOM IN HER LIVING ROOM NOW BECAUSE OF ALL THE THE SILENT AUCTION ITEMS THAT GET PILED UP IN THERE. IT WAS ALSO FUN TO GET TO SEE OUR OLD FRIEND DOUG QUINN WHO WAS THE AUCTIONEER FOR THE EVENT. AND OF COURSE, YOU KNOW, HIS, HIS PERSONALITY AND, AND EVERYTHING JUST FILLED UP THE ROOM. AND IT WAS IT WAS IT WAS JUST A REALLY FUN EVENT. GREAT TESTIMONIALS FROM LOTS OF THE MUSIC TEACHERS THERE ABOUT THE VALUE OF MUSIC EDUCATION AND WHY IT'S SO IMPORTANT TO, TO SUPPORT TO SUPPORT OUR STUDENTS IN THAT. [00:15:02] AND SO JUST REALLY EXCITED FOR HOW QUICKLY THIS GROUP HAS GOT OFF THE GROUND. AND, AND JUST, YOU KNOW, BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THEM ON A ON A REALLY SUCCESSFUL EVENT. I CAN'T WAIT FOR NEXT YEAR. THEY DID SAY MAKE SURE TO WATCH OUT IN THE FALL. THEIR TALENT SHOW IS COMING BACK THE STAFF TALENT SHOW. SO WE'LL WATCH OUT FOR THAT. YEAH. CAN I ASK YOU QUESTIONS ABOUT IT? SO THEY HAVE TWO EVENTS EVERY YEAR, THE STAFF TALENT SHOW IN THE FALL. AND THEN ARE THEY GOING TO CONTINUE HAVING LIKE A.. I THINK SO I THINK THAT'S I THINK THAT'S KIND OF THE PLAN. I MEAN LIKE I SAID THEY'RE THEY'RE PRETTY THEY'RE JUST STARTING OUT AND AND THE THE GALA WAS KIND OF AN IDEA TO TRY. AND I THINK THAT THEY'RE FEELING, FEELING GOOD ABOUT IT. YEAH I KNOW THERE'LL BE THEY'LL BE REPORTING OUT ON SOCIAL MEDIA SOON AND ALL THAT KIND OF STUFF. BUT YOU KNOW, IT HAPPENED ON SATURDAY NIGHT AND BELIEVE ME, SUNDAY IS A DAY OF REST AFTER THESE THINGS. SO THAT'S FINE. I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING THAT INFORMATION. IF YOU KNOW THEM, LIKE, WOULD LOVE TO HAVE THEM COME TO A BOARD MEETING AND SHARE. MAYBE BEFORE NEXT FALL, THAT'D BE GREAT. YEAH, YEAH. MORE AWARENESS. YEAH. A LOT OF GREAT WORK. THANK YOU. YEAH. ANYTHING ELSE FOR BOARD COMMUNICATION? ALL RIGHT. OKAY. [6. PUBLIC COMMENTS] MOVING ON TO ITEM SIX A, PUBLIC COMMENTS. WE DO HAVE A COUPLE OF PUBLIC COMMENTS HERE. SO FIRST OUR OUR LITTLE SCRIPT THE BOARD VALUES PUBLIC INPUT. THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE BOARD IS TO LISTEN AND REFLECT ON PUBLIC COMMENTS ACTIVELY. THE BOARD MAY ONLY DISCUSS AND ACT UPON ITEMS INCLUDED IN THE WRITTEN AGENDA. FOR THAT REASON, BOARD MEMBERS CANNOT RESPOND TO ANY COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS DURING PUBLIC COMMENT, BUT CAN ASK THE SUPERINTENDENT TO FOLLOW UP ON ISSUES RAISED DURING PUBLIC TESTIMONY. GUIDELINES FOR PUBLIC INPUT EMPHASIZE THE RESPECT AND CONSIDERATION OF OTHERS. BOISTEROUS CONDUCT WILL NOT BE PERMITTED AT ANY MEETING OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS, NOR WILL ANY HARASSING OR THREATENING REMARKS BE TOLERATED. COMPLAINTS ABOUT INDIVIDUAL EMPLOYEES SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO THE SUPERINTENDENT'S OFFICE AS A PERSONNEL MATTER. THE BOARD REQUESTS THAT ANYONE WHO HAS SUBMITTED WRITTEN PUBLIC COMMENTS REFRAIN FROM READING THEM DURING THIS PORTION OF OUR MEETING TO ALLOW OTHER COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO SHARE THEIR COMMENTS. AND I DON'T BELIEVE WE HAD ANY WRITTEN PUBLIC COMMENTS FOR THIS. EACH PERSON PROVIDING PUBLIC COMMENT WILL HAVE A TOTAL OF THREE MINUTES. ONCE CALLED UPON, PLEASE STEP UP TO THE MICROPHONE, FACE THE BOARD AND STATE YOUR NAME FOR THE RECORD. THE BELL WILL RING AT THREE MINUTES TO REMIND YOU THAT YOUR TIME IS UP. OUR FIRST PUBLIC COMMENT WE HAVE IS FROM COREY MARSHALL. ALL RIGHT. HI, MY NAME IS COREY MARSHALL. I'M HERE AS BOTH A PARENT AND AN EMPLOYER OF THE DISTRICT, AND I'M HERE TO PRAISE THE PAPER MAKER PRESCHOOL AND TO POTENTIALLY ASK YOU FOR A POLICY CONSIDERATION. FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS, MY TWO SONS HAVE BEEN FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO BE ALLOWED INTO PAPER MAKER AT CAMAS HIGH SCHOOL. AND AS I'M SURE YOU KNOW, IN ADDITION TO THAT PRESCHOOL PROGRAM, CHS ALSO HAS A CHILD DEVELOPMENT CLASS IN WHICH TWICE A WEEK, THE STUDENTS IN THE CLASS GET TO GO INTO THE PRESCHOOL AND PLAY WITH AND BE THE LITTLE MINI EDUCATORS WITH THE PRESCHOOL STUDENTS. NOW, THREE YEARS AGO, WHEN WE SIGNED UP FOR PAPER MAKER, I THOUGHT THE BEST PART OF IT WAS GOING TO BE I WAS IN THE BUILDING WITH THEM. I COULD TAKE THEM HOME. TRANSPORTATION IS A PIECE OF CAKE. BUT I'M HERE TO TELL YOU SOMETHING I'VE LEARNED, AND I DID NOT REALIZE THIS WHEN WE FIRST STARTED. BUT IT IS A PROFOUND CHANGE IN WHAT I THINK ABOUT THIS PROGRAM, AND I HOPE IT LEADS TO YOU TO MAKE SOME CHANGES AS WELL FOR THE GOOD. I TEACH MAINLY SOPHOMORES, AND MANY OF THESE STUDENTS EITHER ARE CURRENTLY IN CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND WORKING WITH PRESCHOOL KIDS, OR THEY WERE LAST YEAR. AND THEN THEY COME INTO MY CLASS A YEAR LATER. IN A TYPICAL YEAR, IT TAKES ABOUT TWO MONTHS OR SO FOR SOPHOMORE STUDENTS TO REALLY BE WILLING TO TRUST YOU, GET TO KNOW YOU, COME TOGETHER AND SAY, ALL RIGHT, I'M WILLING TO SHARE SOME THOUGHTS, SHARE SOME JOKES, SHARE SOME STORIES, AND THAT'S PRETTY NORMAL, THAT'S UNDERSTANDABLE. I MAY YOU KNOW, I'M A GRUMPY FACED MALE, AND A LOT OF THESE SOPHOMORES JUST TAKE A LITTLE TIME TO GET TO TRUST YOU RIGHT? BUT AT THE END OF THE YEAR, I ALWAYS HAVE A REALLY STRONG RAPPORT. AND I'M REALLY HAPPY WITH THAT RAPPORT. AND I JUST WISH I WOULDN'T MISS THOSE FIRST TWO MONTHS, WHICH IS JUST SOMETHING THAT COMES WITH THE TERRITORY. BUT THESE PAST THREE YEARS HAVE NOT BEEN THE SAME THING. EACH CLASS THAT I HAVE HAS AT LEAST ONE STUDENT THAT'S IN THE CHILD DEVELOPMENT CLASS, AND RIGHT AWAY THEY'RE MEETING WITH MY KID. THEY'RE PLAYING WITH THEM, THEY'RE INTERACTING WITH THEM. AND AT SOME POINT, IT DOESN'T TAKE VERY LONG FOR ONE OF MY TWO BOYS SAYS, DID YOU KNOW MY DAD WORKS HERE? AND THEY SAID, WHO'S YOUR DAD? OH, IT'S MARSHALL. THE SAME MR. MARSHALL, THAT I HAVE HERE. LIKE, OH, I DIDN'T KNOW THAT WAS THE SAME MARSHALL. AND THIS LEADS TO STUDENTS COMING TO ME AND SAY, ARE YOU HENRY'S DAD, ARE YOU JACK'S DAD? AND THEN THEY SAY, I WORK HIM IN PRESCHOOL. CAN YOU BELIEVE WHAT HE DID TODAY? AND THEY START TALKING TO ME RIGHT AWAY AND THEY START INTERACTING WITH ME. AND SO SOMETHING AMAZING I'VE NOTICED THESE PAST THREE YEARS IS THAT I DON'T BUILD A RAPPORT IN MONTH TWO, I REALLY I START BUILDING A RAPPORT BY WEEK THREE BECAUSE EVEN WHEN THESE STUDENTS, IF THEY'RE NOT IN CHILD DEVELOPMENT, THEY HEAR, WHAT WERE YOU TALKING TO MARSHALL ABOUT? HE'S WHAT HIS KIDS WEAR. AND THEN THEY HEAR THAT STORY AND IT SPREADS. AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I'M I'VE GOT THIS DIFFERENT RAPPORT WITH THEM. I'VE GOT THIS DIFFERENT REPUTATION WHERE I'M NOT JUST AUTHORITARIAN GUY, I'M A DAD, I'M A GOOFBALL. I HAVE WEIRD STORIES. I THEY SEE MY KID COME INTO THE CLASSROOM AFTER SCHOOL. WHEN THEY COME IN WITH HELP WITH ME, THEY SEE ME INTERACT WITH HIM. [00:20:04] AND IT'S JUST IT IT OPENS UP A DIFFERENT SIDE THAT THEY DON'T NORMALLY GET TO SEE WITH THE TEACHERS. SO CURRENTLY THERE IS NO POLICY THAT SAYS CAMAS STAFF HAVE AUTOMATIC ACCESS TO PAPERMAKER PRESCHOOL. BUT I'M HERE TO ASK YOU TO WRITE ONE. THREE YEARS AGO, I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THIS REQUEST WAS NOTHING MORE THAN SPECIAL TREATMENT, BUT NOW I REALIZE IT MAKES OUR SCHOOL BETTER. IT SPEEDS UP AND INCREASES THE LIKELIHOOD THAT WE FORM A POSITIVE RELATIONSHIP WITH STUDENTS. IT HELPS STAFF, OUR STUDENTS SEE STAFF IN A DIFFERENT LIGHT, AND IT BASICALLY JUST HELPS THEM TO LOWER THEIR SHIELDS AND BE OPEN WITH US AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE HERE. AND SO I'M ASKING YOU TO CONSIDER THAT POLICY. I SEE MY TIME IS UP HERE. BUT I HOPE YOU WILL. I HOPE YOU'LL RECOGNIZE THAT THIS PROGRAM OVERALL IS VERY BENEFICIAL, AND I HOPE YOU'LL GET A CHANCE TO COME VISIT THE PRESCHOOL AT SCHOOL SOMETIME. THANK YOU. THANK YOU, MR. MARSHALL. NEXT WE HAVE SARAH LOGAN. HELLO, I'M SARAH LOGAN. I AM THE TEACHER LIBRARIAN AT DOROTHY FOX, AND I JUST WANTED TO COME AND ACKNOWLEDGE THAT APRIL IS SCHOOL LIBRARY MONTH AND THAT FORTUNATELY, IN CAMAS, WE HAVE TEACHER LIBRARIANS IN NEARLY ALL OF OUR BUILDINGS DOING AMAZING THINGS EVERY DAY. HOPEFULLY YOU GOT MY LATEST NOTES FROM THE LIBRARY. I HAD TO DO SOME CREATIVE FONT REDUCTIONS AND EXPANSIONS ON AREAS OF THIS TO FIT EVERYTHING IN THAT'S HAPPENED BETWEEN FEBRUARY AND NOW, BECAUSE SO MANY COOL THINGS ARE HAPPENING IN OUR SCHOOL LIBRARY. AND THAT IS POSSIBLE PARTIALLY BECAUSE YOU ALL FUND MY POSITION AND BECAUSE YOU FUND LAURA SHEPHERD'S POSITION. THERE'S NO WAY I COULD DO THE THINGS THAT I CAN DO, IF I ALSO HAD TO CIRCULATE ALL THE BOOKS, REPAIR ALL OF THE BOOKS. THE WHAT SHE'S ABLE TO GET DONE IN TWO HOURS IS AMAZING AND REALLY ALLOWS ME TO BE BETTER AT MY JOB. SO I'M MAINLY HERE TO SAY THANK YOU AND TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE GREAT WORK THAT TEACHER LIBRARIANS IN OUR DISTRICT DO EVERY DAY. THANK YOU, MISS LOGAN. ALL RIGHT THAT BRINGS US TO THE END OF PUBLIC COMMENTS. MOVING ON, ITEM SEVEN. [7. ITEMS ADDED TO THE AGENDA] YOU'LL SEE, WE DID HAVE ONE ITEM THAT WAS ADDED TO THE AGENDA. WITH THAT, I WOULD ENTERTAIN A MOTION AND A SECOND TO APPROVE THE CONSENT AGENDA. [8. CONSENT AGENDA] I'LL MAKE A MOTION TO APPROVE THE CONSENT AGENDA. I WILL SECOND THAT. MOVED BY ERIKA. SECONDED BY TRACEY. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR? AYE. MOTION CARRIES. THAT MOVES US DOWN TO NINE A, OUR SUPERINTENDENTS REPORT AND DOCTOR ANZALONE. [9. REPORTS] ALL RIGHT. WELL, THANK YOU SO MUCH AGAIN AND GREAT, GREAT TO SEE ALL THE KIDS HERE AGAIN AT THE BEGINNING. LET'S GET THE SUPERINTENDENT REPORT UP. AND THEN A COUPLE OF THINGS YOU'VE ALREADY HEARD FROM THE STUDENTS, BUT I HAVE A COUPLE SNAPSHOTS FOR YOU THROUGHOUT THE REPORT TO CELEBRATE THOSE AS WELL. IT'S BEEN REALLY, REALLY BUSY THIS LAST MONTH OR SO. AND I THINK WE STILL HAVE A LOT MORE TO GO, SO. JUST JUST TRYING TO THROW THAT IDEA OUT THERE. HANG TIGHT. ALL RIGHT. WELL, I ALWAYS LIKE TO START OFF, IF WE CAN, WITH ENROLLMENT. LIKE THE OLD NINTENDO. THERE WE GO. STUDENTS DON'T GET THAT ONE. ALL RIGHT. SO RIGHT NOW WE'RE AT 6935 FTE. REMEMBER, THIS IS FULL TIME ENROLLMENT. THIS IS NOT OUR FULL HEADCOUNT. WE'RE STILL HEADCOUNT IS STILL OVER SEVEN, WELL OVER 7000. DID LOSE NINE STUDENTS TO DIFFERENT WITHDRAWALS OVER THE LAST MONTH. THIS WAS FROM APRIL 15TH. SO THIS IS ABOUT A WEEK OLD, BUT IT'S PRETTY UP TO DATE. ABOUT 4057 SECONDARY STUDENTS. AND THEN YOU SEE JUST UNDER 2900 ELEMENTARY STUDENTS. CCA CONTINUES TO GROW. THIS IS AGAIN VERY MUCH LIKE LAST MONTH, VERY MUCH THE TIME WHERE WE SEE STUDENTS MOVING FROM ONE OF OUR MORE COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOLS INTO A CCA PROGRAM. AND TYPICALLY THOSE STUDENTS WILL COME FROM CHS. SO VERY, VERY NORMAL, MINUS SEVEN FROM CHS, MOST LIKELY MOVING INTO CCA OR OTHER PROGRAMS. DISCOVERY HAS STAYED VERY, VERY STAGNANT OVER THE LAST MONTH. 170 STUDENTS AND HAYS FREEDOM ALSO VERY, VERY STAGNANT. SO THAT'S GOOD. THOSE ARE GOOD. THOSE ARE GOOD THINGS. IN THE MIDDLE SCHOOL AGAIN, VERY SIMILAR TO HIGH SCHOOL, WE SEE STUDENTS THAT NEED A DIFFERENT FORMAT, DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE. SO THEY'RE MOVING INTO OUR CCA MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAM. FOR THE MOST PART, OUR MIDDLE SCHOOLS HAVE STAYED PRETTY ON TRACK. SKYRIDGE HAD A BIT OF AN ANOMALY THIS LAST MONTH WITH LOSING FIVE STUDENTS. [00:25:02] MOST LIKELY THOSE STUDENTS DID MOVE TO CCA FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER. MIDDLE SCHOOL, IT TENDS TO BE MORE ABOUT EITHER ATHLETICS OR SOME OTHER PROGRAM THAT THE STUDENTS IN OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL WHERE IT'S CAUSING A BARRIER TO BE IN A, IN A, YOU KNOW, A TYPICAL SCHOOL DAY WHERE HIGH SCHOOL IT'S GOING TO BE, OF COURSE, MORE ABOUT CREDIT RECOVERY. ELEMENTARY, RATHER STILL, FOR THE MOST PART A REALLY WAS HAPPY TO SEE MORE STABILITY AT WOODBURN THIS MONTH. WE'VE SEEN A LITTLE BIT OF A DROP OFF OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS WITH FAMILIES MOVING ON TO OTHER JOBS, HAVING TO MOVE OUT OF STATE. THE OTHER THING THAT'S POPPING UP A LOT, AND YOU'RE PROBABLY NOT GOING TO BE SURPRISED, IS FAMILIES HAVING THE NEED TO JOIN WITH OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS, MORE LIKE SHARED HOUSING OPPORTUNITIES WHERE BECAUSE OF RENTS BEING SO HIGH OR OTHER FACTORS, FAMILIES ARE MOVING IN TOGETHER. AND THIS IS A NATIONWIDE ISSUE, BUT WE'RE SEEING IT HERE IN SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON AS WELL. SO I'M NOT THAT SURPRISED ABOUT SOME OF THE DROP OFF WE SAW AT HELEN BALLARD AND ALSO AT GRASS VALLEY. BUT I WAS PLEASED TO SEE WOODBURN WAS ABLE TO STAY PRETTY STEADY THIS MONTH. QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS? ONE THING I'LL ADD IS OUR PRINCIPALS ARE NOW STARTING TO SEND US SOME OF THAT DATA FROM EXIT SURVEYS. SO WE'RE COMPILING THAT FOR YOU AS WELL. SO AT SOME POINT WHEN WE HAVE A GOOD AMOUNT OF DATA, I'LL BRING THAT FORWARD WHETHER IN A WORKSHOP OR HERE TO THE BOARD. BUT I'M REALLY PLEASED THAT OUR PRINCIPALS ARE VERY CONSISTENT WHEN THEY MEET WITH FAMILIES OR REGISTRARS MEET WITH FAMILIES WHEN THEY'RE WITHDRAWING. OF COURSE, WE DON'T WANT TO PRY, BUT WE'D LOVE TO HEAR, YOU KNOW, WHAT IS THE REASON? AND WE ARE NOT HEARING ANYTHING ABOUT DISSATISFACTION WITH THE DISTRICT. THOSE ARE NOT THE COMPLAINTS WE'RE HEARING. IT'S MOSTLY FINANCIAL AND ECONOMIC CONCERNS. SO HOPEFULLY THAT WILL TURN AROUND AT SOME POINT SOON. OKAY. I'D LIKE TO RECOGNIZE OUR SOPHOMORE OF THE MONTH. EVERY MONTH, THE ROTARY RECOGNIZES A SOPHOMORE FROM WASHOUGAL AND FROM CAMAS. THIS MONTH, OUR STUDENT CAME FROM DISCOVERY HIGH SCHOOL. IT'S MAYA ERRICO, AMAZING STUDENT, SO WELL SPOKEN. KNEW EXACTLY WHAT SHE WANTED IN LIFE AND WILL PROBABLY CHANGE 100 TIMES FROM NOW, BUT AWESOME AWESOME SPEAKER DOCTOR DAN WAS WAS ABLE TO BE THERE BRIGHT AND EARLY. AND OUR INCOMING HR DIRECTOR, WHO WAS REPRESENTING WASHOUGAL, ALSO STOOD FOR OUR CAMAS STUDENTS. SO I THOUGHT THAT WAS PRETTY NEAT. SO CONGRATULATIONS TO MAYA AND SHE'LL BE IN THE FINAL TALLY FOR A POTENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP. IT'S $500. SO THEY JOKE THAT IT WOULD MAYBE BUY ONE TEXTBOOK FOR COLLEGE, BUT IT'S STILL 500 BUCKS IS 500 BUCKS RIGHT? ALL RIGHT. REALLY, REALLY NEAT PROJECT THAT CAME TO A CONCLUSION THIS MONTH AT DOROTHY FOX, THE JEDI MASTER PROGRAM. AND THESE STUDENTS READ 14,000 BOOKS, NOT JUST THESE STUDENTS, THE ENTIRE SCHOOL, BUT THEY HIT THE 14,000 BOOK MARK. THESE WERE READ BY STUDENTS IN THE READING CHALLENGE. STUDENTS HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO EARN THEIR WAY TO BECOME A JEDI, AND MANY ACCOMPLISHED THIS FEAT. SO REALLY, REALLY NEAT FOR THESE ADULTS TO JOIN IN. AND WHERE I MEAN, THOSE COSTUMES ARE PRETTY AUTHENTIC, RIGHT? AND SO AWESOME EVENT. THANK YOU, DOCTOR SALK AND RYAN SCOTT FOR YOUR LEADERSHIP OVER AT DOROTHY FOX. VERY COOL STUFF. AND OF COURSE, ALL THE OTHER STAFF THAT WERE INVOLVED. SARAH LOGAN? ABSOLUTELY. WHAT ISN'T SHE INVOLVED IN? SARAH. THANK YOU. OKAY. ALL RIGHT. I DIDN'T WANT TO MAKE AN ASSUMPTION, BUT SO, YES, THANK YOU, SARAH, AS WELL. ALL THE WORK YOU DO. HOW COULD WE NOT HAVE A HUMAN SUNDAY PICTURE? THIS SEEMS TO BE ONE OF THE THEMES OF THE YEAR. THERE'S MR. PARMAN COVERED IN ALL KINDS OF CHOCOLATE SAUCE AND EVERYTHING ELSE. THIS WAS FOR A GREAT CAUSE. THIS WAS TO CELEBRATE KINDNESS SHOWN DURING WHAT THEY CALL SPRAAK WEEK. IT'S THE SPECIAL PEOPLE PERFORMING RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS. WE HEARD ABOUT THAT FROM OUR STUDENTS TODAY AS WELL. KINDNESS WAS REALLY A THEME OVER THIS LAST MONTH. WHAT A GREAT SPORT! MR. PARMAN. AND AGAIN, THE KIDS HAD A BLAST WITH THAT. SO THE PICTURES ARE GREAT. I MEAN, GEEZ LOUISE, AWESOME PIC. ALL RIGHT. SO ERIKA, THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THIS UP. REALLY PROUD OF THE WORK THAT'S HAPPENING WITH LAC, LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY COMMITTEE. THIS IS AN AMAZING, PASSIONATE AND COMPASSIONATE GROUP OF FAMILIES, PARENTS, STAFF MEMBERS WHO HAVE JOINED THIS WORK. HERE'S A COUPLE OF THINGS THAT'S HAPPENING THERE. OBVIOUSLY WE'RE OUT OF SESSION, BUT WE DON'T WANT TO STOP THE PROGRESS. WE KNOW THAT THE 2025 SESSION IS GOING TO BE VERY CRUCIAL FOR ALL OF WASHINGTON AND SPECIFICALLY SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON AND CAMAS. SO THE WORK IS CONTINUING EVEN THOUGH WE'RE NOT IN SESSION. MOST OF THE CANDIDATES HAVE NOW DECLARED OR ALL THE CANDIDATES HAVE NOW DECLARED. WE'RE MOVING INTO PRIMARY IN AUGUST, AND SO I'M EXCITED ABOUT WHAT'S TO COME, AND CAMAS IS DEFINITELY GOING TO BE AT THE TABLE IN MORE WAYS THAN [00:30:08] ONE, THERE'S GOING TO BE A FOCUS FROM THE COMMITTEE ON INCREASING EDUCATION AS A STATE PRIORITY. WE'VE TALKED ABOUT THIS QUITE A BIT, THAT EDUCATION HAS REALLY DROPPED IN THE PRIORITY NEEDS OF THE STATE, AND THAT'S NOT OUT OF MALICIOUSNESS OR ANYBODY THAT'S ANTI-EDUCATION. IT'S JUST SO MANY OTHER ISSUES ARE REALLY COMING TO THE SURFACE. THE COMMITTEE AND I AGREE, WE FEEL THAT EDUCATION IS REALLY THE FOUNDATION OF SO MANY OF THE ISSUES THAT OUR STATE AND OUR COUNTRY ARE FACING. AND SO OUR PLEA TO OUR LEGISLATORS ARE, YOU KNOW, WE CAN HANDLE AND WE CAN EDUCATE OUR STUDENTS ON SO MANY OF THE FACTORS THAT YOU'RE DEALING WITH, WHETHER IT'S OPIOID ADDICTION OR HOMELESSNESS OR SUICIDE IDEATION. ALL OF THESE THINGS REALLY STEM FROM THE WORK THAT OUR EDUCATORS ARE DOING EVERY DAY WITH KIDS. SO PLEASE FUND US ADEQUATELY AND SATISFACTORILY. THE ONE OF THE THINGS THAT THE COMMITTEE WANTS TO DO IS EXPAND OUR TEAM. AND SO WE'RE DEFINITELY GOING TO LOOK WITHIN CAMAS. WE'LL PROBABLY BE PUTTING A CALL TO ACTION OUT AGAIN TO SEE IF MORE STAFF, COMMUNITY MEMBERS, PARENTS WANT TO JUMP ON BOARD, BECAUSE SOME OF THE AMBITION THAT THE COMMITTEE WANTS TO DO AND REALLY PUTTING TOGETHER FORUMS AND RECEPTIONS FOR OUR LEGISLATORS, IT'S GOING TO TAKE MORE THAN 10 OR 12 PEOPLE THAT ARE REALLY ON THE COMMITTEE. SO WE'RE HOPING ON GETTING THIS COMMITTEE A LITTLE BIT MORE ROBUST. WE ALSO ARE LOOKING AT MAKING SOME SUBCOMMITTEES TO SHARE THAT WORK, AND I'LL GET MORE INTO THAT AS THE WORK UNFOLDS THERE. BUT ULTIMATELY, THE GOAL IS FOR OUR VOICES TO BE HEARD IN OLYMPIA. BUT THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER INTO THE FALL, WELL BEFORE OUR LEGISLATORS EVEN GO UP TO OLYMPIA AGAIN, WE WANT TO WELCOME THE CANDIDATES AND REPRESENTATIVES TO CAMAS. THEY'RE EVEN INTERESTED IN DOING A GUBERNATORIAL OUTREACH WHERE WE HAVE THE GENERAL ELECTION CANDIDATES COME TO CAMAS MEET WITH US BECAUSE WE FEEL THAT IT'S NOT JUST THE LEGISLATORS, BUT ALSO THE PERSON WHO'S GOING TO BE SIGNING THE BILLS INTO LAW. SO I'M EXCITED FOR THAT AS WELL. HOPEFULLY THEY'LL THEY'LL WANT TO COME OUT FOR THAT. AND OUR AND REALLY OUR MANTRA IS ONE COLLECTIVE VOICE, ONE COLLECTIVE MESSAGE. AND I THINK ONCE OUR BOARD SETS THE PRIORITIES, WHICH I'M HOPING THAT WE'LL GET TO SOON THAT'S GOING TO REALLY GREEN LIGHT US INTO MAKING SURE THAT WE'RE TALKING WITH THAT ONE COLLECTIVE VOICE. SO, ERIKA, THANKS AGAIN FOR THE TO BRINGING THAT UP. AND HOPEFULLY THAT CLEARS IT UP A LITTLE BIT MORE. SO ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS THERE? ALL RIGHT. I REALLY WANT TO RECOGNIZE KATIE AND SHERRY. BOTH WERE PRESENTERS AT THE URBAN COLLABORATIVE IN PORTLAND, AND THEIR PRESENTATION WAS AROUND INTEGRATING MTS AND EQUITY PRINCIPLES INTO THE WORK THAT WE DO. THERE'S A LITTLE BIT OF A BIO THERE ON KATIE AND SHERRY, BUT YOU KNOW THEM WELL. THEY'RE REALLY TRYING TO SHARE OUR VISION AND CAMAS OF TRANSFORMATIVE CHANGE IN THE AREAS OF CREATIVITY AND A COMMITMENT TO BREAKING DOWN BARRIERS WHEN IT COMES TO STUDENT OUTCOMES, AND THEY'RE JUST REALLY LEADING THE WAY. I'M VERY PROUD OF BOTH OF THEM AND THE WORK THEY'RE DOING. GREAT FEEDBACK FROM PORTLAND AND THE WORK THEY'RE DOING, ALLAN AND REBECCA WERE ALSO ABLE TO JOIN THEM AND AND PARTICIPATE AS WELL. JUST AT THE BOTTOM THERE, YOU SEE PARTICIPANTS, THE GOAL OF THEIR PRESENTATION WAS FOR THEM TO ENGAGE, SHARE THEIR OWN EXPERIENCE AS WALK AWAY WITH AT LEAST ONE STRATEGY THAT THEY CAN IMPLEMENT IN THEIR DISTRICT. SO THE WORK THAT YOUR SUPPORTING AND THAT WE'RE DOING AS A COMMUNITY IS STARTING TO SHARE OUT. AND SO SO AGAIN, I THINK WE'RE LEADING THE WAY IN THIS AREA. THIS WAS ANOTHER AWESOME EVENT. OUR ETHAN CHESSON SET THIS UP. AND I KNOW THIS HAS BEEN A BIT OF A TRADITION, BUT I WAS ABLE TO BE THERE. PACKED HOUSE AT REVOLUTION HALL IF YOU HAVEN'T BEEN THERE YET IT'S AN INCREDIBLE VENUE. I FELT LIKE I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF PHILADELPHIA OR CHICAGO. IT WAS JUST SUCH A COOL URBAN PLACE TO BE. WHAT WAS NEAT ABOUT THIS, AND YOU CAN SEE THE CHOIR IN THE BACKGROUND, THEY WERE ACTUALLY ABLE TO PERFORM WITH PROFESSIONAL MUSICIAN NICK DELFS, WHO NOW WE'RE FRIENDS ON TWITTER, AND HE'S A SUPER PUMPED ABOUT ABOUT THIS TOO. HE WAS PROMOTING A NEW ALBUM, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, THE STUDENTS ACTUALLY HAD AN IMPACT IN HIS FINAL RECORDINGS. THEY THEY KIND OF TWEAK THINGS A LITTLE BIT FOR HIM AND GAVE HIM SOME INPUT, AND SOME OF THE WORK THAT THE KIDS DID ENDED UP ON HIS ALBUM. SO AWESOME EXPERIENCE. BIG KUDOS TO ETHAN FOR PUTTING THIS ON AND AND GETTING THAT HUGE GROUP OUT TO PORTLAND AND BACK HOME SAFELY. SO VERY, VERY NEAT EVENT AND I WAS PLEASED TO BE THERE. ALSO AN OPPORTUNITY I HAD OVER AT ODYSSEY MIDDLE SCHOOL THIS MONTH WAS WORKING WITH THE HUMANITIES TEACHER AND HER PROGRAM. JUST AN AMAZING TIME. THERE WE TALKED ABOUT DIVERSITY AND EDUCATION. THE KIDS WERE SUPER PARTICIPATORY. [00:35:01] THEY WERE ENGAGED IN THE WORK. YOU SEE ALL THE HANDS UP REALLY TALKING ABOUT THE HISTORY AND THE EVOLUTION OF DIVERSITY AND EDUCATION. AND WE WENT THROUGH A LITTLE BIT OF BROWN VERSUS BOARD OF EDUCATION. WE TALKED ABOUT CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT, BUT ULTIMATELY THE KIDS WERE REALLY ABLE TO SEE HOW JUST BEING KIND AND RESPECTFUL AND TOLERANT AND ACCEPTING REALLY CAN CHANGE THE FACE OF HISTORY. SO IT WASN'T ANYTHING I DID AT ALL. IT WAS REALLY THE WORK OF THE KIDS. THEY REALLY WERE AMAZING. SO THANK YOU TO THIS WHOLE STAFF AT OMS FOR THE INVITE AND LOVE TO GO BACK. YEAH, I HAD TO DO A LITTLE HOMEWORK WITH THAT NIGHT BEFORE MY WIFE'S LIKE, WHAT ARE YOU DOING? TAKING UP SOME MORE CLASSES? NO, WE'RE TEACHING. THIS IS AGAIN, ONE OF OUR STUDENTS EARLIER MENTIONED THIS. THIS WAS IN ANOTHER, A GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENT FOR CAMAS. YOU SEE, OUR GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM WAS ABLE TO MEET WITH CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR TOOK A PICTURE IN CHAMBERS AND MAYOR HOGAN PROCLAIMED THAT THIS WEEK WILL FOREVER BE GIRLS BASKETBALL WEEK HERE IN CAMAS. SO GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR THE GIRLS THERE AND THE COACHES COACHING STAFF. AND YOU ALSO, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT THE STUDENTS KIND OF WENT THROUGH PRETTY QUICKLY, I WAS HOPING THEY'D SPEND A LITTLE MORE TIME ON THIS, BUT THIS WAS THE MORNING AFTER PROM. I MEAN, THAT'S PRETTY AWESOME. THAT'S PRETTY AWESOME. 900 KIDS WENT TO PROM, AND THEN A BUNCH OF THE STUDENTS ENDED UP WAKING UP EARLY ON SUNDAY MORNING, GOING OUT TO DOWNTOWN CAMAS, CLEANING UP, JUST PICKING UP AND YOU SEE THE PRINCIPAL THERE. SHE HAS HER SUNGLASSES ON WITH DOCTOR DAN. THEY WERE PROBABLY PRETTY TIRED TOO FROM CHAPERONING, BUT THEY ALL SHOWED UP AND IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL MORNING. AND THAT'S PRETTY, THAT TELLS A LOT ABOUT THIS COMMUNITY THAT THESE THESE TEENAGERS WOULD GET UP THAT EARLY ON A SUNDAY AFTER PROM AND BE THERE. SO PRETTY AWESOME. AND THAT'S ALL I HAD. ANY QUESTIONS? COMMENTS? LOT GOING ON. GREAT STUFF. YOU GOT IT. STILL TWO MORE MONTHS TO GO. YEAH. YEAH. EIGHT WEEKS. EIGHT WEEKS. EIGHT WEEKS ISH. YEAH. ALL RIGHT. OKAY. NEXT UP, WE HAVE OUR MONTHLY BUDGET REPORT WITH JASON MCEATHROM. THERE WE GO. WHOA! ALL RIGHT. OKAY. PUT THAT BACK THERE. OKAY. WELL GOOD EVENING. FOR TONIGHT'S BUDGET STATUS REPORT, I'VE ACTUALLY ASKED A FEW SPECIAL GUESTS. WE'RE GOING TO START WITH THE NUTRITION SERVICES PROGRAM UPDATE. AND I BROUGHT SOME FRIENDS WITH ME THIS EVENING, SO I'VE GOT I'D LIKE TO ASK HUSSEIN KHAVARI COME TO, PLEASE COME UP AS WELL AS TAMMY WESTMORELAND AND THEN I WANT YOU TO TO INTRODUCE THE OTHER KITCHEN LEADS THAT ARE HERE, TOO. BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO MISS ANYBODY WHO'S COME HERE. SO AS YOU, AS YOU MAY RECALL THIS WAS A PIVOTAL YEAR. WE DECIDED TO CHANGE PROVIDERS AND GO WITH CHARTWELLS TO MANAGE OUR FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM. AND IT'S BEEN A REAL POSITIVE CHANGE, NOT ONLY JUST FOR THE PROGRAM AS A WHOLE, BUT WE'RE SEEING THINGS AT THESE INDIVIDUAL SCHOOLS THAT WE HADN'T SEEN BEFORE. WE'RE HEARING FEEDBACK WE HAVEN'T HEARD BEFORE. SO I WANTED I WANTED THEM TO KIND OF SHARE WITH YOU SOME OF THE A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE PROGRAM AND ENOUGH OF ME TALKING. SO THANK YOU. THANK YOU. CAREFUL THAT THE FIRST THING I WANT TO SAY IS I'M HONORED TO BE HERE FOR TWO REASONS, ONE IS TO BE A PARTNER WITH THE SCHOOL DISTRICT WORKING FOR CHARTWELLS, BUT ALSO TO BE A PARENT TO A STUDENT, THE STUDENTS HERE. SO TWO OF MY DAUGHTERS GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL HERE. I HAVE ONE AT [INAUDIBLE]. SHE IS DEFINITELY MY WORST CRITIC. SHE'S EVERYDAY TELL ME WHAT WE SHOULD DO AT THE MENU, HOW WE CAN IMPROVE IT. NOTHING COULD BE, I CAN'T TAKE ANY CREDIT FOR THIS. AS YOU ALL KNOW, I'M THE REGIONAL DIRECTOR FOR THE AREA. BUT I WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE TAMMY AND THE TEAM. SO I'LL LET TAMMY INTRODUCE THE TEAM. AND EVERYBODY MAY KNOW TAMMY, BUT TAMMY. THANK YOU. WE HAVE FIVE GUESTS TONIGHT. FIRST OF ALL, WE HAVE CLAY BLAKEMAN FROM CAMAS HIGH SCHOOL. HE'S THE LEAD. AND WE HAVE BECKY PERMON FROM HELEN ELEMENTARY. EXCUSE ME. [00:40:01] THEN WE HAVE BRIAN ELAINE, WHO IS THE LEAD AT SKYRIDGE MIDDLE SCHOOL, WHICH IS OUR BASE KITCHEN, WHICH SENDS FOOD OUT TO ALL THE ELEMENTARIES. AND WE HAVE LISA SAMPLE FROM WOODBURN ELEMENTARY AND THEN ALSO [INAUDIBLE] FROM LACAMAS LAKE ELEMENTARY. SO I ALSO WANTED TO TELL YOU THAT PICTURE WAS NOT MY CHOICE. SO CHARITY, THE DIRECTOR HERE UNFORTUNATELY CANNOT BE HERE. SHE HAS A FAMILY SITUATION THAT SHE HAD TO TAKE A FEW DAYS OFF TO KIND OF HANDLE. SO SHE PUT TOGETHER THIS PRESENTATION WITH WITH JASON AND TAMMY, AND I CAN SEE THEY PICKED THE WORST PICTURE THAT I COULD BE IN TO BE ON THE PRESENTATION, BUT I REMEMBER THIS ONE VERY WELL. IT WAS A WOODBURN ELEMENTARY, AND I WAS ARM WRESTLING WITH THE KIDS THAT I'VE EATEN THEIR FRUIT AND VEGETABLES TO SHOW THEM THAT, YOU KNOW, THE MORE FRUIT AND VEGETABLES YOU EAT, THE BETTER YOU KNOW YOU'LL DO. SO I WANTED TO SPEAK TO YOU. YOU KNOW, OUR BUSINESS IS REALLY SIMPLE. YOU FOCUS ON THE PEOPLE, YOU FOCUS ON GIVING PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT, GIVE THEM HEALTHY CHOICES, AND EVERYTHING WILL FALL INTO PLACE. AND THAT'S WHAT WE STARTED WITH. WE STARTED WITH OFFERING MORE CHOICES TO THE STUDENTS THIS YEAR. WE ALSO LISTENED. WE TRY TO BRING VARIETIES FROM DIFFERENT CULTURES FOOD THAT STUDENTS EAT. SO YOU'LL HAVE SOMETHING THAT THEY CAN GRAB REALLY QUICK SAY FOR EXAMPLE, LIKE A CHICKEN SANDWICH OR SOMETHING THAT IS HOME COOKED LIKE A SAY YOU KNOW, A PASTA BAKE OR SPAGHETTI AND MEATBALLS OR SOMETHING LIKE THIS. SO WE TRY TO OFFER THEM SOMETHING EVERY DAY, ESPECIALLY THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. THEY GET FOUR CHOICES. THEY GET LIKE I SAID, THEY QUIT, GRAB THEY GET A COMPOSED SALAD SO THEY COULD GET IT LIKE A CHICKEN SALAD OR POPCORN. CHICKEN SALAD. THEN THEY GET A SANDWICH. THEY COULD GET A SANDWICH, A TURKEY AND CHEESE SANDWICH, AND THEY CAN GET A HOME COOKED OR HOUSE COOKED MEAL WHERE IT'S MORE OF A SCRATCH COOKING, WHERE A LOT OF PARENTS ARE ASKING US TO DO MORE OF THOSE. SO WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE OFFER THESE I CHOSE TO USE THE, THE, THE CLICKERS TO THE BUTTON. SO WE LISTENED TO THE STUDENTS BASICALLY. AND WE DID IN NOVEMBER WHEN EVERYBODY WERE VOTING FOR THEIR FAVORITE REPRESENTATIVE, THE STUDENTS VOTED FOR THEIR FAVORITE FOOD. WE TOOK THAT INFORMATION, COLLECTED THAT DATA, AND MADE SURE WE OFFER THESE ITEMS IN THE MENU. SO THE KIDS HAD A LOT OF FUN VOTING. THEY GOT THE LITTLE STICKERS THAT THEY VOTED AND I, YOU KNOW, THEY WERE VERY ENGAGED. THERE WAS ANOTHER A STUDY GROUP WITH THE STUDENTS THAT WE WE DISCUSSED ABOUT WHAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO EAT, TOOK THAT INFORMATION AGAIN AND TRANSLATE IT INTO INTO WHAT'S BEEN GOING TO BE OFFERED IN THE MENU. LIKE JASON SAID, MORE IMPORTANTLY THAN ANYTHING ELSE, IT'S THE PEOPLE THAT MAKE THIS HAPPEN. AND I CAN TELL YOU, WE HAVE VERY HARD WORKING, VERY PASSIONATE STAFF THAT PUT THEIR HEART INTO WHAT THEY DO OR WHAT THEY NEEDED JUST SOME PRODUCT TO WORK WITH, KIND OF, YOU KNOW, SOMEBODY TO LISTEN TO. AND I CAN TELL YOU THAT I KNOW FROM TAMMY AND CHARITY AND JASON, THAT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US, THAT WE HEAR WHAT OUR STAFF ARE SAYING BECAUSE THEY WANT TO DO THE BEST FOR THE STUDENTS. SO THEY PARTICIPATED INTO YOU KNOW, SHARING THEIR THOUGHTS. ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE DO EVERY MONTH IS WE HAVE A PERSON THAT WE NOMINATE FOR TWO YEARS AND IT'S KIND OF LIKE THE EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH. SO WE THE INTENTION IS TO MAKE SURE WE RECOGNIZE PEOPLE FOR THE, FOR THE WORK THAT THEY DO. AND THEY LIKE I SAID, THEY PUT THEIR HEART OUT. THEY THEY COME IN, THEY WORK VERY HARD. I THINK THIS YEAR WE LAUGHED TOGETHER, WE CRIED TOGETHER RIGHT. SOME DAYS WE HAD SOME ROUGH DAYS, BUT WE MADE IT HAPPEN. SO I CAN'T BE MORE GRATEFUL TO TAMMY, THE STAFF, THE LEADS IN THE SCHOOL AND CHARITY, THE LEADER THAT'S NOT HERE. JUST A QUICK REVIEW. WE WERE LOOKING AT OUR MEAL PARTICIPATION. WE HAD A GOOD INCREASE. I THINK THAT IS STATISTICALLY AMAZING INCREASE, WHICH IS A 6% INCREASE OVER THE PREVIOUS YEAR. IF WE DO THAT EVERY YEAR, I THINK WE'LL BE DOING REALLY A GREAT JOB. BUT AGAIN, LIKE I SAID, I CAN'T TAKE ANY OF THAT CREDIT AT ALL. IT'S ALL THE TEAM MEMBERS. AGAIN, YOU KNOW, LOOKING FORWARD WE WANT TO CONTINUE TO SERVE AS OUR MOTTO IS SERVING HAPPY AND HEALTHY. WE WANT TO CONTINUE TO DO THAT. WE ALSO A COUPLE OF THE THINGS THAT WE'RE LOOKING AT IS MAYBE MORE NUTRITION EDUCATION AROUND THE AROUND THE SCHOOLS GIVING THE STUDENTS AN OPPORTUNITY TO TASTE SOMETHING NEW FIRST BEFORE THEY GO AND BUY IT. AND THAT'S HOW WE CAN GET FOLKS INVOLVED. ANYWAYS, ENOUGH OF ME SPEAKING. I WANT TO GIVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO ANY OF THE STAFF MEMBER THAT LIKES TO SHARE THEIR THOUGHT. I WAS VOLUNTEERED. [00:45:01] SO THERE YOU GO. THEY PICKED THE REPRESENTATIVE. THEY PICKED THE BIG ONE TOO, A GOOD ONE. SO I AM BECKY HERMAN, HELEN BALLARD. I'VE BEEN AROUND FOR A LITTLE BIT 21 YEARS. SO I HAVE A LITTLE FUN THAT I DO WITH THE KIDS. SO THIS IS MR. TACO, AND THIS IS CLOVER, THE FOUR LEGGED CLOVER, AND THIS IS BLOSSOM. SO I HIDE THESE LITTLE GUYS. I THINK A MONTH IS OBVIOUSLY MARCH, AND THIS WAS SPRING AND THIS WILL BE MAY FOR OR WHATEVER. ANYWAY, SO I HIDE THESE GUYS AND THE KIDS [INAUDIBLE] AND THEN THEY INTERACT WITH ME AND THEY WANT TO START. I WANT A HIGH FLOW ROPE AND GO HIGH FLOW. SO THAT'S WHAT I DO. SO THAT'S REALLY FUN. AND THEN AND THEN WE DO A JOKE OF THE DAY OR A JOKE OF THE MONTH BECAUSE I'M OLD AND I CAN'T REMEMBER ANY JOKES. BUT HERE'S THE JOKE. SO. WHAT SCHOOL DID THE ICE CREAM MAN GO TO? THIS IS THE KINDERGARTNER. SUNDAY SCHOOL. SO THAT'S OKAY. OKAY. SO THIS IS LIKE A REALLY SWEET, SWEET MOMENT. SO THIS HAPPENED. QUITE A FEW YEARS AGO. I'M WORKING WHATEVER. AND THE SENIORS THAT COME WALKING THROUGH THE SCHOOL, THEY COME BACK AND THEY CAN JUST PICK YOUR MARCH, WHATEVER AND THEY GOT THEIR CAP AND GOWN ON AND A SENIOR GIRL, SHE COMES UP TO ME, SHE'S LIKE, THANK YOU, MISS BECKY, YOU WERE AWESOME, AND I REMEMBER YOU AND I WAS GOING THROUGH A HARD TIME IN MY LIFE AND ALL THIS STUFF, AND I'M LIKE. IN MY HEAD, I'M LIKE, YOU ARE AND I'M OLD. YOU'VE CHANGE. MY LOOKS HAVE NOT CHANGED. I STILL HAVE THE GRAY HAIR WHICH I COLORED. BUT ANYWAY. SO THIS. SHE'S LIKE TELLING ME, YOU KNOW, YOU'RE AWESOME, YOU KNOW? THANK YOU FOR BEING THERE FOR ME. LET ME COME INTO THE KITCHEN AND I OPENED UP THE RAISINS AND I, YOU KNOW, DID WHATEVER, YOU KNOW, I HELPED OUT WHATEVER. THANK YOU. ANYWAY. SO THAT IS SUCH A BLESSING THAT. THEY REMEMBERED ME. AND ANYWAY, SO THE FOOD SERVICE. WE ROCK. DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? DOES THE BOARD HAVE ANY QUESTIONS AT ALL FOR. FIRST OF ALL, I JUST. YOU. SEEMS LIKE YOU GUYS HAVE A LOT OF FUN AT YOUR JOB, SO I'M LIKE, IT SEEMS LIKE A GREAT PLACE TO WORK, BUT JUST KUDOS TO ALL OF YOU. I KNOW IT WAS A BIG SWITCH FOR US TO SWITCH THIS YEAR. AND WHEN WE'RE IN THE I KNOW WE WENT TO PRUNE HILL, I MEAN LACAMAS LAKE AND THE KIDS WERE EATING LUNCH THAT DAY AND JUST ASKING THEM HOW THE FOOD WAS. AND SO WE HEAR A LOT OF FEEDBACK WHEN WE GO INTO THOSE SCHOOLS BECAUSE SPECIFICALLY WE SWITCHED. SO WE'VE BEEN ASKING WHEN WE GO INTO THE SCHOOLS AND IT'S ALWAYS POSITIVE COMMENTS THAT WE HEAR. AND I LOVE SEEING ALL THIS FUN STUFF THAT YOU GUYS DO AND MAKING YOU KNOW, MAKE IT EXCITING FOR THE KIDS. SO, SO GREAT JOB TO ALL OF YOU. THANK YOU. AGREED. YEAH, I KNOW THERE WAS I KNOW THERE WAS KIND OF SOME WHEN WE WERE GOING THROUGH THIS WHOLE PROCESS, THE BIDDING PROCESS AND ALL OF THAT, THERE WAS KIND OF SOME TREPIDATION ABOUT MAKING, YOU KNOW, A BIG CHANGE LIKE THIS. AND SO FAR, ALL THE ALL THE FEEDBACK HAS BEEN OVERWHELMINGLY POSITIVE THAT WE'VE HEARD. SO JUST THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU FOR, YOU KNOW, KEEPING EVERYTHING GOING. AND THANKS FOR EVERYONE'S LEADERSHIP. IT'S IT'S YEAH, IT'S ONE OF KUDOS TO THE 6% GROWTH. THAT'S AMAZING DATA. AND I THINK 12% GROWTH NEXT YEAR IS A HUGE GOAL. I LOVE YOUR ENTHUSIASM. I THINK I MEAN, JUST EVEN 6% IS GREAT. AND LIKE THEY'VE ALL SAID LIKE THE FEEDBACK COMES TO US WITHOUT EVEN BEING SOLICITED. SO IT'S BEEN OVERWHELMINGLY POSITIVE. SO THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU DO AND MAKING MOMENTS THAT YOU DON'T EVEN REALIZE YOU'RE MAKING, MAYBE MAKING UNTIL THEY COME BACK AND LET YOU KNOW. AND THAT'S ALWAYS SO KIND AND AND WONDERFUL AND AWESOME. SO THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU. THANK YOU, THANK YOU. THANK YOU FOR INDULGING ME ON THAT. I WAS IT HAS BEEN A VERY CHALLENGING YEAR. ANY TIME THERE'S A TRANSITION. BUT THIS IS THE SAME TEAM THAT YOU KNOW, DURING COVID WITH 24 HOURS NOTICE WAS DELIVERING MEALS VIA BUS. SO, YOU KNOW, IT WAS CERTAINLY WITHIN THEIR WHEELHOUSE TO, TO TO CHANGE FOOD SERVICE PROVIDERS. JUST AN INCREDIBLE CREW. AND WE'RE FOREVER BOUND TOGETHER FROM, FROM THE COVID DAYS. AND, AND THEN THROUGH THIS PROCESS AS WELL. SO THANK YOU ALL FOR COMING THIS EVENING. YOU DON'T HAVE TO STAY FOR MY BUDGET STATUS, BUT YOU'RE MORE THAN WELCOME TO THEY GET UP AWFULLY EARLY. THIS IS PROBABLY IMPINGING UPON BEDTIME. SO I WANTED TO THIS THIS REPORT HERE IS FOR MARCH 2024. [00:50:07] ONE OF THE THINGS THAT TENDS TO HAPPEN IN THE MONTH OF MARCH IS THAT WE START TO SEE SOME PROPERTY TAXES COME IN. NOW, THEY'RE OBVIOUSLY DUE IN APRIL, BUT THERE'S THERE'S SEVERAL FOLKS THAT PAY A LITTLE BIT EARLY. SO START TO SEE AN UPTICK IN LOCAL TAXES IN THREE FUNDS GENERAL FUND, DEBT SERVICE AND CAPITAL PROJECTS. AND SO INDEED WE SAW SOME OF THAT. WE ALSO ARE ANTICIPATING IN OUR PROJECTION THE LEGISLATIVE CHANGES THAT WE'VE GONE THROUGH, ALL THE MODELS NOW THAT WERE RELEASED FROM THE STATE AND THAT INCREASE OUR REVENUES ABOUT 350,000. SO SO THAT'S IT'S A LITTLE BIT MORE THAN WHAT WE ANTICIPATED, OBVIOUSLY DOESN'T NECESSARILY FIX ALL THE GAPS, BUT IT IS A, IT IS CERTAINLY IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION, IF YOU WILL. SO STILL LOOKING AHEAD, WE'RE STILL LOOKING AT A PROJECTED DEFICIT AROUND 3 MILLION. AND WE'LL KIND OF SEE HOW THAT GOES FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE YEAR. NO OTHER REAL ACTIVITY IN THOSE PARTICULAR IN IN MARCH. YOU'LL SEE OUR FUND BALANCE IS PROBABLY AT. PROBABLY ITS LOWEST POINT IN THE MONTH OF MARCH FOR THE YEAR. AND THEN WE'LL GET THIS INFLUX OF OF PROPERTY TAXES TO CURRENT MONTH AND ARE, ARE WE EXPECTING TO, TO LIKE SOME OF THESE, SOME OF THESE FUNDING INCREASES THAT WE I MEAN, THEY'RE FAIRLY NOMINAL 350,000 IS WHAT, LIKE A QUARTER OF A PERCENT OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. BUT ARE WE EXPECTING TO SEE THIS? IS THIS GOING TO END UP IN OUR BUDGET FOR THIS YEAR? THAT THEN WILL ADD TO THE BALANCE THAT WE'LL HAVE TO SPEND, THAT WILL REALLY WE'RE GOING TO USE FOR NEXT YEAR? YEAH, WE'VE ALREADY INTEGRATED IT INTO THIS YEAR'S THIS YEAR, THIS CURRENT FISCAL YEAR'S PROJECTION. AND AGAIN, IT'S JUST. REVENUES KIND OF GO UP, BUT WE'RE SEEING EXPENDITURES GO UP. OKAY. ON THAT SIDE YOU KNOW, WHEN WE START TO TAKE A LOOK AT SOME OF THE REVENUE SIDE, I THINK WE HAD SOME PD COSTS THAT KIND OF CAME IN A LITTLE BIT HIGHER THAN WHAT WE HAD INITIALLY. PROJECTED. SO THAT BUMPED UP THE EXPENDITURE SIDE. SO, JASON, JUST A QUICK QUESTION ON THIS. THE MARCH SLIDE WHEN IT SAYS PROJECTED ENDING FUND BALANCE -2.8 MILLION FOR MARCH. CORRECT. YEAH. SO THIS WAS CHANGED ACTUALLY I THINK PROJECTED DEFICIT OF 2.8. OH, GOTCHA GOTCHA, GOTCHA. THANK YOU. SO USED TO THAT LITTLE FANCY HIGHLIGHTER. SO THAT'S CORRECT. IT'S A DIFFERENT VERSION THAN WE HAVE. OF CONCERN, I GUESS. OR I'LL JUST SAY THAT WE'RE MONITORING. I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S CONCERN QUITE YET, BUT WE, YOU KNOW, OUR CURRENT PROJECTION HAS US COMING IN AT USING MORE OF OUR BUDGET CAPACITY. SO WE'RE DOWN TO ABOUT 800,000 BEFORE WE WOULD HIT THAT THAT LIMIT SET BY THE BOARD. SO WE'RE GOING TO BE CLOSELY MONITORING THAT. IF WE GET MUCH CLOSER, WE MAY DO A BUDGET EXTENSION JUST TO MAKE SURE THAT WE DON'T GO OVER AT THE END, AT THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR. BUT SO FAR, WE'RE WE'RE OKAY. WE'VE GOT WE'VE GOT A LONG ENOUGH RUNWAY THAT WE CAN PIVOT IF NEED BE. SO IT'S PRETTY CLOSE. WE KNEW IT WAS GOING TO BE CLOSE, SO. SO STAY TUNED ON THAT. AND I DON'T REALLY HAVE ANYTHING ELSE FOR THIS PARTICULAR MONTH. AGAIN, WE'LL START TO SEE LOCAL TAX REVENUES COME IN IN APRIL. AND WE'RE GETTING TOWARDS THE END OF. YOU KNOW, THE FISCAL YEAR, YOU KNOW, CERTAINLY THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR. SO OUR FOCUS IS STARTING TO SHIFT OVER TOWARDS BUILDING NEXT YEAR'S BUDGET. WE'VE MADE GOOD PROGRESS ON THAT AS WELL. SO JASON, THIS MIGHT BE A DUMB QUESTION, BUT I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE I'M. I'M CLARIFYING THIS WHEN YOU SAY WE HAVE A PROJECTED INCREASE OF 350,000, THAT'S 350,000 IN ADDITIONAL FUNDS ON TOP OF ANY, LIKE, INFLATIONARY FACTORS THAT WOULD ADJUST THOSE. RIGHT? LIKE, IT'S JUST THE NET DIFFERENCE. SO BASICALLY WHAT WE WERE ABLE TO DO IS AND THE LEGISLATIVE THE THIS PAST LEGISLATIVE SESSION, THEY MADE CHANGES TO THE FUNDING MODEL FOR M SACHS PARAEDUCATOR FUNDING AS WELL AS OFFICE SUPPORT FUNDING. SO WHEN WE WERE ABLE TO RUN THAT THROUGH THE MODEL, THE CHANGES THAT THEY IMPLEMENTED, WE FOUND THAT THE NET INCREASE IN THE REVENUE SIDE WAS 350,000. WE'RE STILL AT A DEFICIT POSITION, OBVIOUSLY, RIGHT. STILL USING FUND BALANCE TO COVER OUR OPERATIONAL COSTS. BUT IT IS HELPFUL. IT IS HELPFUL NOW BECAUSE THAT IS A FUNDING MODEL CHANGE THAT IS THEN BUILT INTO NEXT YEAR AS WELL, AND THE [00:55:07] YEAR, YOU KNOW, YEARS THEREAFTER. SO. DOES THAT MAKE SENSE? YEAH, IT WAS A LITTLE BIT UNUSUAL. TYPICALLY, FUNDING MODEL CHANGES DON'T GO INTO EFFECT UNTIL THE FOLLOWING YEAR. SO A LITTLE UNUSUAL, BUT SEEING THAT A LITTLE BIT MORE OUT OF THE LEGISLATURE LATELY PAST FEW SESSIONS. SO. GOOD QUESTION. ANY OTHER COMMENTS? OKAY. ALL RIGHT THAT'S IT FOR REPORTS. EXCUSE ME. WE'LL MOVE ON NOW TO ITEM TEN. [10. POLICY REVIEW - First Reading] THIS IS POLICY REVIEW. FIRST READING. SO THESE ARE THE POLICIES THAT WE WENT OVER AT OUR WORKSHOP A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO. AND I BELIEVE BASED ON THAT, WE DID GET SOME FEEDBACK FROM, FROM CABINET ON THE QUESTIONS WE HAD THERE, WHICH I THINK YOU ALL RECEIVED. SO OTHERWISE, IF THERE AREN'T ANY OTHER QUESTIONS, I WOULD MOVE. I WOULD ASK FOR A MOTION FOR APPROVING FIRST READING OF THE POLICIES A THRU J. I'LL MAKE A MOTION TO APPROVE THE FIRST READING OF POLICIES. WHAT WERE OUR NUMBERS? ONE MORE TIME? A THROUGH J. THANK YOU. AND I'LL SECOND THAT. OKAY, SO IT WAS MOVED BY ERIKA. SECONDED BY BAMINI. ANY FURTHER DISCUSSION? ALL THOSE IN FAVOR? ALL RIGHT. SO THAT APPROVES FIRST READING. WE'LL BRING THOSE BACK NEXT MONTH. [11. POLICY REVIEW - Second Reading and Adoption] ITEM 11. THESE ARE THE SLATE OF POLICIES WE APPROVED FOR FIRST READING AT LAST MONTH'S BOARD MEETING. SO THIS WE'RE LOOKING FOR SECOND READING AND ADOPTION. THERE HASN'T BEEN ANY CHANGES SINCE THE MARCH MEETING. I'D MOVE FOR ADOPTION OF. A POLICIES A THROUGH G LISTED IN THE AGENDA. I WILL SECOND THAT. OKAY, SO I WAS MOVED BY CONNIE, SECONDED BY TRACEY. FURTHER DISCUSSION. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR? AYE. MOTION CARRIES. OKAY, SO THOSE ONES ARE APPROVED FOR SECOND READING AND ADOPTION. [12. QUALITY FACILITIES AND RESOURCES] WE HAVE ITEM 12, A UNDER QUALITY FACILITIES AND RESOURCES. SORRY. I'M JUST GETTING MY NOTES UP HERE. THIS IS A DISTRICT WIDE FIRE ALARM INSPECTION CONTRACT WITH GB MANCHESTER. YOU HAVE THE PAPERWORK IN FRONT OF YOU IF THERE'S ANY QUESTIONS. I KNOW SHERMAN'S HERE TOO, IF THERE'S ANY QUESTIONS, I HAVE A QUESTION, SHERMAN, THIS IS A ONE YEAR CONTRACT. I THINK LAST YEAR WE DID A ONE YEAR CONTRACT. DO WE ALWAYS DO JUST ONE YEAR CONTRACTS? AND WHAT IS THE REASON FOR A ONE YEAR VERSUS A BUNDLED YEARLY, SINCE WE SEEM TO DO BUSINESS WITH THEM FOR THIS EVERY EVERY TIME. JUST CURIOUS. DELAY ON THE INSPECTIONS. THEY JUST ARE YEARLY. THAT'S JUST THE WAY.. THAT THEY LIKE TO DO IT. THEY LIKE TO DO A YEARLY GOT YOU UNDERSTOOD. THANK YOU. NO FURTHER QUESTIONS. SO I MOVE TO APPROVE A ONE YEAR CONTRACT WITH GB MANCHESTER FOR THE 2024 DISTRICT WIDE ANNUAL INSPECTIONS OF FIRE ALARM SYSTEMS IN THE AMOUNT OF 71,925 PLUS APPLICABLE SALES TAX. THESE FUNDS WILL COME FROM THE GENERAL FUND. I SECOND THAT. JUST MOVED BY ERIKA SECONDED BY BAMINI. ANY FURTHER DISCUSSION? ALL THOSE IN FAVOR? AYE. MOTION CARRIES. THANK YOU. SHERMAN. ALTHOUGH YOU MIGHT AS WELL WAIT RIGHT THERE. BECAUSE THERE'S ONE MORE FOR YOU TOO YEAH. ALL RIGHT. ITEM B IS A DISTRICT WIDE WIRELESS ACCESS POINT PURCHASE TO BE FUNDED BY OUR TECHNOLOGY LEVY. SO A PLANNED PROJECT OUT OF THERE. QUESTIONS FOR SHERMAN. SO ON THE THE STATE CONTRACT, WE WERE ABLE BECAUSE IT'S THE END OF THEIR QUARTER TO SAVE 120,000 FROM THE THE MINIMUM BID. LIKE ON THAT CONTRACT, WE SAVED OVER 50% BY NOW. AND THEN THEY GAVE US 0% FINANCING FOR FIVE YEARS. SO IT'S. ABOUT 90,000 FROM WHAT WE PAID FIVE YEARS AGO TO PUT IN THE SYSTEM. SO IT'S A REALLY GOOD DEAL. THAT'S GREAT. YEAH. HE'S ALWAYS GOOD AT BARGAIN HUNTING, YOU KNOW. OH, I MOVE TO APPROVE THE REPLACEMENT OF THE WIRELESS ACCESS ACCESS POINT WAP DEVICES, DISTRICT WIDE. THIS TOTAL COST WILL BE $688,453.80, INCLUDING SALES TAX. [01:00:06] AND FUNDS WILL BE PAID FOR BY THE TECHNOLOGY LEVY. THANK YOU. SECOND OKAY. MOVE BY ERIKA, SECONDED BY CONNIE. ANY FURTHER DISCUSSION? ALL THOSE IN FAVOR? ALL RIGHT. MOTION CARRIES. THAT BRINGS US TO THE END OF OUR AGENDA. [14. EXECUTIVE SESSION - Property - RCW 42.30.110 (c) - Approximately 60 minutes] WE DO HAVE A AN EXECUTIVE SESSION TO DISCUSS PROPERTY THAT WILL BE IN FOR ABOUT 60 MINUTES. IT'S 6:30 RIGHT NOW, SO I WILL BE BACK AT 730 TO ADJOURN THE MEETING. UNTIL THEN, WE ARE IN RECESS. ALL RIGHT. IT IS 7:33. OUR EXECUTIVE SESSION IS OVER AND OUR MEETING IS ADJOURNED. * This transcript was compiled from uncorrected Closed Captioning.
