THINGS CHANGE. ALSO THE PRICE OF OF THAT PROPERTY HAS CHANGED AS WELL.

SO WE DID RECEIVE AN APPRAISAL ON THAT PROPERTY.

SO WE TOOK CARE OF THAT. THE BOARD APPROVED THAT.

AND SO RIGHT NOW OUR DUCKS ARE ALL IN A ROW TO GET THAT PROPERTY UP FOR SALE.

THE HOLD UP COULD BE WAITING ON THE COUNTY TO REZONE THAT, WHICH COULD BE AS LATE AS JUNE OF 2026.

SO WE REALLY CAN'T FINALIZE ANYTHING WITH ANY POTENTIAL BUYERS UNTIL AFTER THAT ZONING CHANGES, AND THEN THERE'LL BE A CLOSING PERIOD AS WELL.

THROUGH THAT, WE WENT TO THREE DIFFERENT COMPETITIONS, ONE OF WHICH BEING DCNP, AND WE WERE JUST A FEW RANKING POINTS AWAY FROM GOING TO WORLDS, AND WE GOT THREE DIFFERENT AWARDS. WE GOT TWO OF WHICH WERE THE SAME, BUT WE GOT THEM AT TWO DIFFERENT COMPETITIONS AND THAT WAS INNOVATION AND CONTROL DUE TO OUR USE OF AN OCULUS, SO OUR VISION. AND THEN WE GOT A GRACIOUS PROFESSIONALISM AWARD WHICH IS PRETTY, THAT'S A PRETTY IMPORTANT HIGH ONE WHICH SHOWS THAT WE'RE GRACIOUS AND WE HELP OUT OTHER TEAMS EVEN THOUGH WE ARE IN A COMPETITION SETTING.

I THOUGHT I THINK WE MOSTLY AGREED THAT I FELT LIKE EVERY SESSION THAT I WENT TO, LIKE, I GOT SOMETHING OUT OF THAT WE CAN BRING BACK.

AND THAT FOR ME, THE BIG HITTERS WERE THE INFORMATION WE LEARNED ON, ON POST-GRADUATION DATA, YOU KNOW, LIKE WHERE, HOW MANY KIDS ENROLL IN FOUR-YEAR, TWO-YEARS, KNOW COLLEGE AND THEN WHERE THEY ARE LIKE EIGHT YEARS OUT. AND THAT'S JUST PUBLIC DATA THAT WE CAN ACCESS AND DIG INTO THAT I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT.

ALSO A LOT ABOUT AI THAT LIKE, WE GOT TO GET ON BOARD.

AND I HAD A PLAN ON WHAT I WAS ATTENDING, AND I LOVED THAT WE ALL WENT TO THE DIFFERENT ONES THAT WE COULD, AND THEN COMMUNICATE ABOUT WHAT WE LEARNED SO THAT WE WEREN'T ALL AT THE SAME THING.

SO AND THE OTHER THING THAT I ALSO WANTED TO DO, WHICH I THOUGHT I DID A PRETTY OKAY JOB WITH, IS BUILDING SOME CONNECTIONS WITH OUR NEIGHBORS.

THERE ARE NEIGHBOR DISTRICTS THAT, YOU KNOW I DIDN'T KNOW A WHOLE LOT OF PEOPLE.

AND I GOT TO SIT WITH THEM AT SOME OF THOSE SESSIONS THAT I WENT TO AND LEARN ABOUT WHAT'S HAPPENING AROUND US, NOT JUST ON THE EAST OR WEST OF US TWO. SO THAT WAS SUCCESSFUL.

I WAS SUCCESSFUL WITH, I THOUGHT. AND THEN THE CONFERENCE TOPICS THAT I THOUGHT THEY WERE VERY RELEVANT TO TODAY TO THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING IN THE WORLD THINGS THAT WE'VE SPOKEN ABOUT AND ESPECIALLY WITH THE LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY COMMITTEES RECEPTION THAT WE HAD THE OTHER DAY,

THINGS THAT WERE DISCUSSED, HAVING OUR LEGISLATORS, AND THERE WAS A SESSION THAT I WENT TO THAT HAD TO DO WITH THAT.

AND THEY WERE TEACHING PEOPLE TOOLS, HOW TO CONTACT YOUR LEGISLATOR AND HOW TO COMMUNICATE.

AND, AND THIS IS WHERE THE WHOLE SEASON PIECE OF IT CAME INTO PLAY.

I WAS LIKE, LET ME TELL YOU. AND I FELT REALLY PROUD THAT WE'VE DONE A LOT OF WORK AND THINGS THAT THAT WERE BEING TAUGHT WERE THINGS THAT WE WERE ALREADY DOING. SO IN THAT SENSE, I FELT LIKE WE WERE A LITTLE AHEAD OF THE GAME MAYBE.

BUT THERE WAS ANOTHER TOPIC THAT I WENT TO HAD TO DO WITH AI AND WHERE I FELT LIKE, OKAY EVEN PERSONALLY, I FEEL LIKE I STAY AWAY FROM AI A LOT. SO I FELT LIKE WE WERE KIND OF BEHIND ON THAT.

BUT THERE WAS A SCHOOL FROM I THINK THEY SAID RIVERSIDE AND THE KIDS HAVE ALREADY HAVE WORKED ON IT, AND THEY HAVE SOME, YOU KNOW, THEORIES BEHIND ETHICAL POLICIES THAT THEY'VE ALREADY DEVELOPED.

THEY'RE CONTINUOUSLY WORKING. AND THE ENTIRE SESSION WAS HELD RUN BY THE KIDS.

AND I THOUGHT THEY DID A GREAT JOB ON THAT. SO, LET'S SEE.

AND THERE WAS ANOTHER ONE THAT I WENT TO HAD TO DO WITH IMPORTANCE REINFORCING THE IMPORTANCE OF INCLUSION, ACCEPTANCE AND EQUITY. AND THEY RELATED THAT TO, I THINK THE TITLE WAS FROM BOARDROOM TO CLASSROOM.

ONE OF THE EXAMPLES THAT I KNOW CLINT USED WITH OUR LEGISLATORS WHEN THEY WERE HERE.

WE'RE TALKING ABOUT THE BOOK THAT WAS FROM LIKE 2000.

AND SO HOW WAS THAT FALL INTO THAT EQUITABLE OR BEING, YOU KNOW, THE TOPIC OF EQUITY.

AND THERE WERE KIDS THAT WERE IN THAT SESSION THAT SPOKE ABOUT TEACHERS WHO, YOU KNOW, A TEACHER WILL NOT LET ME TAKE THE TEST OVER, BUT MY FRIEND'S TEACHER IN HIS CLASS WILL LET ME LET THEM TAKE IT OVER.

SO, LIKE, YOU KNOW, THE TOPIC HAD A LOT TO DO WITH THAT, HAD INVOLVED KIDS IN THAT.

AND I THOUGHT THAT WAS REALLY INTERESTING. AND REALLY SO THE BIG TAKEAWAYS, I FELT LIKE THE FUTURE.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT CAME UP OVER AND OVER AGAIN IS THE FUTURE DOESN'T LOOK LIKE THE PAST, AND IT SHOULDN'T. WHICH I THOUGHT WAS A PRETTY INTERESTING LINE.

I KNOW WE ALWAYS SAY A LOT AS ADULTS BACK IN OUR DAY OR BACK IN THE DAY, AND IT FEELS LIKE BACK IN THE DAY DOESN'T REALLY APPLY THESE DAYS ANYMORE.

SO AND WE NEED TO VIEW EDUCATION THROUGH STUDENT SIZE.

AND THAT CAME OUT OF ONE OF THE STUDENTS AT ONE OF THE SESSIONS. THE GUY WAS, YOU KNOW, THE KID WAS LIKE, I APPRECIATE YOU ALL DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING, BUT YOU HAVE TO SEE IT FROM OUR EYES AND YOU'RE CREATING A FUTURE FOR US.

AND SO YOU NEED TO SORT OF BE OPEN AND GET ON BOARD WITH THAT.

SO IT WAS REALLY A LOT OF RELEVANCE TO THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING.

SO AS COREY AND MATTHEW SAID, MISSION AND VISION IS REALLY STARTING TO MOVE FORWARD WITH OUR ARTS COMMITTEE.

I LOVE THIS GROUP OF PEOPLE. THEY ARE. SERIOUSLY, I'M SO INTIMIDATED BY THIS GROUP BECAUSE ACROSS THE BOARD, THEY'RE SO TALENTED AND DEEPLY ENGAGED IN THIS WORK ACROSS THE MANY COMMUNITIES, NOT JUST CAMAS.

AS COREY SAID, THERE'S ALREADY SUBCOMMITTEES BEING ESTABLISHED.

AND WE HAVE A LEADER FOR EACH OF THOSE COMMITTEES SO THAT WORK WILL CONTINUE.

AS WELL AS WE'RE IDENTIFYING FIRST STEPS. I REALLY LIKE THE DIRECTION WE'RE GOING.

AND SOME OF THIS WAS COREY'S INSPIRATION ALONG WITH SARAH AND FAUNA IS REALLY DIGGING INTO WHERE WE ARE AS A DISTRICT AND REALLY BRINGING ARTS, FINE ARTS, AND ALL OF THE DIFFERENT ARTS BACK TO THE FOREFRONT AND REALLY PUTTING A SPOTLIGHT ON THAT WORK.

SO I'M REALLY HOPEFUL THAT OUR COMMITTEE AND OUR COMMUNITY WILL START TO SEE THAT OUR DISTRICT, OUR BOARD, IS JUST AS COMMITTED TO ARTS AS WE ARE TO TO ANY OTHER AREA.

BUDGET COMMITTEE IS MOVING FORWARD, AS YOU SAID, MATTHEW, MATT AND KIM KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK, REALLY SHOWING SOME NEW INFORMATION AS WELL AS SOME FORMER INFORMATION.

AND I'M REALLY EXCITED ABOUT SOME OF THE NEW BLOOD THERE.

AND WE'LL HAVE SOME, SOME CHAIRS COMING UP. FORECASTING FUTURE BUDGETS SOON.

WE'LL GET SOME CONSIDERATIONS FOR ME AND THE BOARD AS WE LOOK TO ADOPT A BUDGET FOR NEXT YEAR.

I THINK OUR GOAL REALLY THIS YEAR HAS TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR EDUCATORS AND OUR STUDENTS UNDERSTAND THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY ABOUT IT. WE DON'T WANT TO DIVE IN TOO QUICK TO WHERE WE'RE MAKING MISTAKES WITH IT, BUT WE ALSO DON'T WANT TO BE BEHIND THE EIGHT BALL, RIGHT? SO I DO AGREE WE'RE PROBABLY A LITTLE BIT BEHIND WHERE WE SHOULD BE, BUT GIVE US ABOUT SIX MONTHS AND OR LESS AND WE'LL BE RIGHT WHERE WE NEED TO BE.

WE HEARD THAT LOUD AND CLEAR AT WSSDA. FOR THE FIRST TIME IN PROBABLY A DECADE OR MORE THERE'S A LOT OF DIFFERENT PEOPLE AND PEOPLE WHO HAVE A HEAVY VOICE AT THE TABLE TALKING ABOUT JUST TURNING THIS MODEL ON ITS EAR AND GETTING SOMETHING NEW FOR OUR STATE.

AGAIN, I, MY HOPE WOULD BE IT'S 3 TO 5 YEARS AWAY, BUT.

SO WE'RE REALLY HITTING THIS FROM ALL ENDS. AND I THINK THE MOST IMPORTANT PART IS THAT REPRESENTATIVE SANTOS, WHO'S VERY, VERY INTEGRAL AND LEADS THE EDUCATION COMMITTEE, SHE'S LEADING ONE OF THOSE GROUPS.

SO I HOPE YOU GOT THE SAME FEELING I DID THAT THERE'S SOME MOVEMENT IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.

SECOND PRIORITY IS, OF COURSE, MSOC. SO THAT'S OUR BUILDING SUPPLIES AND OPERATING COSTS.

YOU KNOW, WE'VE BEEN VERY CONSERVATIVE OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS AND COST CONTAINMENT AROUND OUR MSOCS.

HOWEVER, WE DO REALLY NEED THE STATE TO CONTINUE TO ADD TO OUR MSOC.

IT'S PROBABLY THE ONLY TRUE ADD OUTSIDE OF SPECIAL EDUCATION THAT WE'RE ASKING.

I REALLY FEEL LIKE OUR HIT WITH THE LEGISLATORS THIS YEAR IS WE'RE NOT NECESSARILY ASKING FOR MORE AS MUCH AS WE ARE MAINTAINING AND SUSTAINING WHAT WE'RE ALREADY GETTING.

BUT KEEP IN MIND, IN 2027 AND BEYOND, WE DO NEED MORE.

AND THEN THE OVERALL MESSAGE AGAIN, SPECIAL ED BEING PRIORITY NUMBER THREE, STILL TRYING TO HIT SPECIAL ED AT THE AT THE POINT WHERE IT NEEDS TO BE FUNDED.

BUT THAT OVERALL MESSAGE IS PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, WHATEVER YOU DO OR DON'T DO, PROTECT THE RESOURCES THAT WE ALREADY HAVE.

WE'VE TALKED ABOUT BIAS AND RACE AND BIAS AND ABILITY AND BIAS AND GENDER IDENTITY, BUT WE HADN'T SPECIFICALLY SINGLED OUT LANGUAGE, SO WE TALKED, WE, THERE WAS A COMPONENT FOR THAT.

AND THEN WE LEARNED A LITTLE BIT MORE TECHNICAL INFORMATION AROUND LANGUAGE ACQUISITION, THE DIFFERENT PHASES AND TIMELINES, HOW LONG IT TAKES FOR A STUDENT TO DEVELOP SOCIAL LANGUAGE VERSUS ACADEMIC LANGUAGE, FOR EXAMPLE. SO WHAT SOME OF THE APPROPRIATE THINGS MIGHT BE TO EXPECT OF A STUDENT ON AN ASSESSMENT VERSUS A CONVERSATION IN CLASS.

AND WE WERE ABLE TO LEARN ABOUT THE WIDA, WHICH IS THE TEST THAT STUDENTS TAKE OR ASSESSMENT THAT STUDENTS TAKE TO DETERMINE THEIR LEVEL FOR LANGUAGE ACQUISITION SO WE CAN BETTER IDENTIFY HOW THEY MIGHT DO AND WHAT SUPPORTS THEY MIGHT NEED.

SO ALL STAFF RECEIVED THAT TRAINING WITH ALL THOSE COMPONENTS THIS FALL.

THESE WERE THE OUTCOMES FOR THAT DAY. WE TRY TO IDENTIFY OUR RATIONAL OUTCOMES AND OUR EXPERIENTIAL OUTCOMES.

THEY REVIEWED THEIR OWN DATA AND GOT TO KIND OF IDENTIFY AND SHAPE THEIR OWN GOALS.

BUT I WANTED TO RECOGNIZE THAT SOME OF OUR SCHOOLS ARE SPECIFICALLY TARGETING OUR MULTILINGUAL LEARNER POPULATION.

ALL RIGHT. AND OUR PANORAMA REVIEW. I DID HONE DOWN THE DATA THAT YOU SAW.

BUT I DID HONE IN ON WHAT IT IS WE'RE WE'RE LOOKING AT RIGHT NOW IN REGARDS TO MULTILINGUAL LEARNERS AND THE TOPICS I'VE ALREADY SHARED.

SO OUR PANORAMA SURVEY, THE STUDENTS TAKE THIS TWICE A YEAR, FALL AND SPRING.

SO WE HAVE ASSESSED OR SURVEYED STUDENTS AROUND SUPPORTIVE RELATIONSHIPS, WHICH IS TYPICALLY HIGH IN CAMAS.

WE'VE, WE ARE VERY SUCCESSFUL AT THAT. SOCIAL AWARENESS, EMOTION REGULATION, GROWTH MINDSET AND THEN TWO SUBSETS WHICH ARE THE VALUING OF MATH AND SENSE OF BELONGING. THE OTHER ONES WERE ALSO THINGS THAT WEREN'T BEING THE DATA WASN'T BEING USED IN IN ACTION BY OUR PRINCIPALS.

AND SO, WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT WHAT WE WERE GATHERING WOULD BE RELEVANT FOR THEM AND THE GOALS THAT THEY HAD FOR THEIR SCHOOLS.

SO, YOU'LL SEE THAT WE ADDED LEARNING STRATEGIES, WHICH I WOULD SAY HAS MORE TO DO WITH GROWTH MINDSET THAN THE QUESTIONS THAT WERE ASKED.

SO ASK THINGS LIKE YOU KNOW, WHEN YOU GET STUCK, HOW COMFORTABLE DO YOU FEEL IN TRYING A NEW STRATEGY OR ASKING FOR HELP OR GETTING ANOTHER RESOURCE? SOMETHING LIKE THAT. SO THOSE WERE THE FOUR.

SO 6-12, THIS IS OUR KIND OF OVERALL, YOU CAN SEE AGAIN SUPPORTIVE RELATIONSHIPS IS REALLY HIGH.

LEARNING STRATEGIES, SOCIAL AWARENESS AND SENSE OF BELONGING, WHICH IS FLAT FROM THE SPRING FOR GRADES 6 THROUGH 12.

THESE WERE OUR BASELINE DATA POINTS FOR THE 22-23 SCHOOL YEAR.

SO YOU CAN SEE MULTILINGUAL LEARNERS GRADES THREE THROUGH FIVE.

IT WAS 68%. SO THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN SPRING OF 2023 AND 6-12, IT WAS 50%.

THE GOALS THAT WE SET WHEN WE DEVELOPED THESE MEASURES OR WHEN WE DEVELOPED THESE GOALS, 71 AND 54%.

SO WHEN WE LOOK AT JUST SENSE OF BELONGING. I DON'T KNOW IF YOU REMEMBER, BUT THE SURVEY, PANORAMA CHANGED THE SURVEY QUESTIONS LIKE IN 2024, 23, 24.

AND SO WE WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO COMPARE OUR DATA.

BUT THEY'VE MADE OUR LINE A SOLID LINE NOW. AND WHAT, I DON'T KNOW WHY THE SCREENSHOT IS KIND OF BLURRY ON THERE, BUT YOU CAN SEE THAT FOR FALL 2025, IT'S AT 64% FOR ALL STUDENTS GRADES 3-5.

AND FOR OUR MULTILINGUAL LEARNERS, IT'S 69%. I BELIEVE THERE'S A LOT TO SAY ABOUT THE MULTILINGUAL SPECIALISTS THAT WE HAVE IN OUR SCHOOLS, AND THE CONNECTIONS AND SUPPORT THAT THEY OFFER STUDENTS AND FAMILIES.

THEY ARE INCREDIBLY AN INCREDIBLE PROFESSIONAL GROUP WITH A LOT OF SKILL IN SUPPORTING OUR MULTILINGUAL LEARNERS, SO I'M NOT TOTALLY SURPRISED TO SEE THAT THEIR SENSE OF BELONGING HAS GONE UP.

SO AGAIN, OUR FIVE YEAR TARGET BACK FROM 2022-23 WAS 71%, AND WE'RE AT 69.

WHEN YOU LOOK AT GRADES SIX THROUGH 12 ALL STUDENTS AGAIN THE SCREENSHOT WAS WEIRD.

WHEN YOU'RE AT SCHOOL, HOW MUCH DO YOU FEEL LIKE YOU BELONG? HOW MUCH SUPPORT DO THE ADULTS AT YOUR SCHOOL GIVE YOU? HOW WELL DO PEOPLE AT YOUR SCHOOL UNDERSTAND THE KIND OF PERSON YOU ARE? AND HOW MUCH RESPECT DO STUDENTS AT YOUR SCHOOL SHOW YOU? THE ONE THAT I THINK IS REALLY IMPORTANT, AND I UNDERSTAND THAT STUDENTS MIGHT INTERPRET RESPECT IN A LOT OF DIFFERENT WAYS.

BUT I THINK IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT THAT STUDENTS FEEL IN COMMUNITY WITH EACH OTHER.

I LOVE THAT WE HAVE THE SUPPORTIVE RELATIONSHIPS, WHICH IS THAT STUDENTS FEEL THEY HAVE A CONNECTION TO AN ADULT OUT AT SCHOOL OR OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL. BUT I THINK IN ORDER FOR A CULTURE TO BE VERY STRONG, STUDENTS SHOULD NEED TO BE ACCOUNTABLE TO EACH OTHER.

MY CONCERNS ARE WITH CALENDAR A AND B STARTING SO EARLY IN AUGUST.

AND THEN WHEN YOU SPAN IT OUT FOR DIFFERENT TIMES, WITH ONE OF THOSE HOLIDAYS BEING A TWO WEEK BREAK, IT IS JUST, IT IS REALLY HARD FOR MY STUDENTS AND THEN MY AT-RISK STUDENTS WHO NEED THAT ROUTINE, WHO NEED TO BE AT SCHOOL. I MEAN, COMING BACK FROM CONFERENCES, BEING HALF DAYS, BUT BEING THERE EVERY DAY WAS STILL A TRANSITION.

AND SO THAT'S JUST ONE OF MY CONCERNS AS A PRIMARY TEACHER IS THOSE FOUR REALLY LONG BREAKS SPREAD THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, IS JUST REALLY, REALLY HARD FOR PRIMARY TEACHERS TO COME BACK AND TEACH.

AND THEN THE OTHER CONCERN IS JUST THAT MY FAMILY'S FINDING CHILDCARE IN SPORADIC TIMES DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR VERSUS HAVING A SOLID PLAN FOR SUMMER. I KNOW SECONDARY, YOU HAVE OLDER STUDENTS WHO CAN BE HOME AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT FINDING CHILDCARE.

BUT FOR MY FAMILIES THEY DO HAVE TO FIND CHILDCARE AND THAT BECOMES A PROBLEM AS WELL.

FOR THOSE THAT CAN WORK FROM HOME, THEN I HAVE TECHNOLOGY BABYSITTING THE STUDENTS AT HOME.

NO FAULT OF THE PARENTS. WE WENT THROUGH THIS DURING COVID, BUT JUST STILL ONE OF THOSE OTHER CONCERNS, ESPECIALLY WITH THE BREAKS BEING IN THE MIDDLE OF FEBRUARY AND IN NOVEMBER WHEN THE WEATHER ISN'T GREAT AND THE KIDS AREN'T OUTSIDE PLAYING.

AND ALL THE CONCERNS THAT WE HAVE I DO HAVE TWO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS.

SO THAT WAS KIND OF A PROBLEM FOR US STARTING EARLY.

AND NOW WE'RE LOOKING AT STARTING TWO WEEKS BEFORE LABOR DAY, WHICH IS CONCERNING.

IN ADDITION, I ALSO WANTED TO TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ATTENDANCE.

WE PULLED THE ATTENDANCE DATA AT PRUNE HILL, AND WE HAD OVER TWICE THE NUMBER OF KIDS ABSENT THIS YEAR.

IN THE FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL WHEN WE STARTED THE WEEK BEFORE LABOR DAY, COMPARED TO LAST YEAR WHEN WE STARTED AFTER LABOR DAY.

I KNOW THAT SOME KIDS WERE IMPACTED THAT ARE INVOLVED IN SPORTS AS WELL, IN TERMS OF HAVING TO KIND OF JAM TRYOUTS INTO THE FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL. SO JUST TO REITERATE, WE'D LOVE TO ENCOURAGE YOU TO PAUSE AND JUST KIND OF LOOK AT SOME DATA AND GATHER SOME INFORMATION BEFORE WE KIND OF VOTE.
